  1. Haven't attended regularly since the 80s when OU was usually kicking the ever living shit out of us by halftime. Back then you could park in somebody's grandma's yard reasonably close to the Cotton Bowl for $5. Then you'd be accused of running over some kid's foot. They'd settle out of court for $20

anything by ken burns. i’ve been planning on doing a rewatch of his country music doc, and this is reminding me that i need to do that.

also anything narrated by david attenborough, especially if you like to smoke weed.

I've watched his country music documentary probably a half dozen times and then Apple decided I couldn't access my movie and music collection that I bought from them and last time I checked paid a few hundred dollars for and yet they say tough shit if you don't have your old cellphone number and email address. I'll buy it elsewhere but fuck Apple and I'm a fanboy

there's no trailer yet, but for those who haven't heard, seinfeld wrote and directed a film about the creation of the pop-tart, centering around the rivalry between post and kellogg's that took place in michigan in the 1960's.

it's a netflix film, but not sure if it will come out in theaters as well.  there doesn't seem to be a release date announced yet.

anyhow, i saw a screening of this last night.  it has a monster cast and it's everything you want/expect it to be.

I like to toast the ever living hell out of a couple of strawberry pop tarts and pile some Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream on top. No Blue Bell mind you because fuck aggy

I don't understand the Florida State love anymore. Used to pull for them when they played Miami back in the day but I thought last season proved what  a paper tiger they or any other ACC team is/are. Granted USC has underperformed in recent years but they got that whole Big 10 trajectory working for them

The whole I don’t have the right wardrobe bit sounds like a conversation between LD and Jerry in my head. Making excuses for not doing it is a lot funnier than actually doing it.

Perhaps related I get a kick out of LD opposing every check, bar tab or bill he's handed in Curb. It's like he's not a multibillionaire

  6. I know he's been married, had kids etc. but one thing I carry away from this series besides the hilarity is the character Jerry being a heavily closeted gay person. I mean refusing to participate in a menage a trois because you claim you don't have the "wardrobe" and turning down all manner of hot ass because she yada yada'd, ate her peas one at a time or was Tawny Kitaen. Hell I'm so hard up I'd even fuck man hands. NTTAWWT

I've heard of Banshee from "The Boys" thread.  Is it worth a watch?

Banshee was on Skinemax what a decade ago? Watching it on Max now. The lead from The Boys looks like he perpetually has a dip of snuff but maybe he does.

I always enjoy the warnings before this and any other enjoyable show. Graphic language, sex and violence, nudity and drug use. Yes please

My time in Austin was from autumn of 1979 through summer 1983.  Vulcan Gas Company was long gone by then, but was still one of those places you heard about from "the good ol' days".  The Armadillo was still open when I arrived, but closed while I was still there, and I am still kicking myself for never going to see a show there.  I did have tickets once to see Johnny Winter in spring of 1980, but the show was cancelled due to some "injury" to Johnny, which I took to mean he had OD'd or something.  I did see him later that summer in Houston, so all was well, but back to the Armadillo.  Although I never went there myself, I do miss it, as it was one of those places that perfectly embodied Austin at its peak.  There was no other venue in any other city that could host the likes of Willie and Waylon, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Johnny Winter and Frank Zappa, and have pretty much the same crowd every night...and everyone got along, just there having a good time to good vibes.  Austin used to be like that.  Differences in opinion didn't make one an enemy who must be avoided and/or silenced.  Dammit, I'm old, and I miss my youth.

I enrolled in '82 and graduated in '86. I'm from a small town in Southeast TX so I told myself I'd soak up everything Austin had to offer. Missed shows by the Clash, REM and the Pixies, et al, all or most at Liberty Lunch but at the Erwin Center caught the Van Halen 1984 show, U2 on the Unforgettable Fire Tour (not the biggest U2 fan but the Unforgettable Fire slams hard) and Blind Melon and the Smashing Pumpkins in '91 at Southpark Meadows
