  1. We loved Villefranche-sur-Mer, a short train ride or taxi from Nice. Great, laidback scene at the beach (pebbles, not white sand, but beautiful). We enjoyed the restaurants along the water, near Welcome Hotel. Fun to walk around the hillside town. Lunch at Le Grill, at the top of Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo isn’t cheap, but food and views were great.
  2. I took the advice upthread and skipped the corn. Winter squash, cucumbers, pole beans. okra, peppers, and blackeyed peas are coming along ok.
  3. Is 77-0 in 2003 considered this generation? If so, seems like it might want to have a word with Doug.
  4. Caminito is touristy, but colorful and artsy. Also fairly close to the Boca stadium mentioned above.
  5. Disgruntled Horn Fan: "Did you call those Tunnel Screen plays?" Brown: "I did my job!" DHF: "Did you call those Tunnel Screen plays?!" Brown: "YOU'RE GODDAMMED RIGHT I DID!"
  6. Who knows if it's true, but when I was a kid, I heard the story about Shelby finding out one of his players got 4 F's and a D on his report card. Shelby's response: Son, you're spending too much time on one subject.
  7. Which one is Poultry Pimp?
  8. Cannon Beach is great. Massive beach. Cool little town, easily walkable. Seems crazy you can fly into Portland in late July, 95 degree heat wave going on there, then drive a little over an hour and it's 67 in Cannon Beach. Hook 'em!
  9. Here's a dumb/rookie question: If I am only able to get out to my garden once per week, will it just be too overrun with weeds, etc. to even bother with planting stuff? I'll have a sprinkler on a timer so water shouldn't be an issue, but I'm guessing that real gardeners are out weeding and checking on stuff just about every day. P.S. I found this growing on its own in the area I was tilling Sunday. Given how neglected this area was and these are still shooting up, maybe I should be planting some asparagus? Hook 'em!
  10. Thanks!
  11. I'm gonna try some gardenin' this spring. I am sure I will screw it up like the rest of my life but what the heck. Starting small (that's what she said). About 200 sq.ft. I weedeated the crap out of an area that has been neglected forever, then did a little hoeing. Added some compost today. Planning to plant some corn, beans, and squash in a few weeks.
  12. Ever consider a different area of New England, since you have already been to Maine? We did a family trip up there a few years ago, and loved Maine, of course. But Burlington, Vermont, is a pretty cool college town on Lake Champlain, with a good trail for walking and biking along the lake. Only about a 3.5 hour drive from Boston, I think, through some beautiful country, and you could knock out a couple more states if your kids haven't already been there (VT and NH). I certainly love the Maine coast, though, if that's the vibe you are after. Hook 'em!
  13. the folks over on the hobbies/2025 golf thread might have some thoughts as well. If i weren't an old, I could prolly figure out how to link it to here. sorry. Hook 'em!
