Bobby is teasing something big coming on the Coffee & Football stream this morning

The return of Gerry Hamilton? CTJ has mentioned a few times that it should happen any day now.

To me the analogy that comes to mind is China vs the western world. China (aggy) was downtrodden for a long time and went on an all out mission to rise to what they think their rightful place in the world should be. What do they do? They look at more successful countries (Texas, OU, Bama, LSU etc) and try to copy what they did (capitalism) while still maintaining their oddity of form of government which still operates as though capitalism was never introduced. (aggy turditions) In other words aggy (China) thinks that by becoming wealthy and building a massive military they can become #1...but without a good understanding of what it means to be #1 and that it didn't happen overnight for the west, it was a process over generations.

So yeah, thats how I see it. Little bro thinks if they dress and talk like big bro they can not only be equals, but actually surpass big bro.

China has been infinitely more successful than aggy at anything - regardless of economic/political systems. I'm obviously no fan of China, but recall China is an ancient civilization that once upon made positive contributions to mankind. Has aggy ever offered mankind anything worthwhile in the entirety of its shitty existence?

    Lol, Nahlin backtracking

    Big edit.

Edit: Whoa, IT just heard this one might be at an impasse. There’s a good chance Texas will look to go in a different direction due to a sticking point.

I’ll have more as I gather increased clarity.

Sorry to put you on the roller coaster, just sharing info as I get and vet it.

Exactly.  If TAMU would just accept their place in the world, the entire collective mindset and mood would be much better.  They're a mediocre state college with mediocre sports teams.  If they would just accept and enjoy that, in particular with football, they would be much happier.  They could enjoy the occasional upset of a top-5 team and the occasional 10-win season.

Instead, they think they ARE that top-5 program, and that 10+ plus win seasons are the norm.

    They're not.

To that end, what makes the most sense for them to do is rejoin the Big 12. Of course, they will never do that.

Akina got promoted to Defensive Coordinator to stay at Arizona per Footballscoop.

Sources tell FootballScoop new Arizona head coach Brent Brennan has opted to make Duane Akina the defensive coordinator for his Wildcats.

Akina guided the defensive backs for Arizona under Jedd Fisch. Prior to Brennan's hire, Akina had accepted a position with Steve Sarkisian at Texas; but was quickly pulled back to Arizona by Brennan.

One of the most accomplished defensive backs coaches in the game, Akina has coached three Thorpe Award winners, six finalists, 12 All-Americans, 41 NFL defensive backs, and seven Pro Bowlers.

The 67-year-old has spent most of his career at Arizona and Texas. His first U of A stint came from 1987-2000 in a variety of important roles -- as defensive backs coach for the famed "Desert Swarm" defense, as defensive coordinator, as offensive coordinator, and then as defensive coordinator again.

Akina left Arizona for Texas in 2001. In 13 years there, he developed a number of future pros and helped the Longhorns win one national championship and play for another.

Akina then spent 2014-22 coaching defensive backs at Stanford before his return to Tucson.

Akina at DC was a disastrous experiment on the 40 Acres. Glad to see them folks in Tucson willing to make the same error.

Collins is pretty good against the run now and plays at 320.  He could be the nose/anchor if necessary.  I think he's more like that than he is an explosive 3 technique disruptor, actually.  Everyone expected him to be a pass rusher when he was recruited and even talked about playing him at DE his first year or two, but he makes a lot more plays fighting off blocks against the run than he does by just causing pure havoc shooting gaps.

If Collins can become the NT, that would make life on the DL a whole lot easier because finding a serviceable NT in the portal is far from guaranteed. Sydir Mitchell would back up Collins at NT and a combination of Savea and Broughton would play DT.

Word on the street is Gerry will come back when the platform for OTF is up and running. OTF created their own board, and it's bare bones but works for now. It's all free content but I expect it to get monetized in the long run, $9.95 and whatnot.

The OTF board, in conjunction with Gerry Hamilton's possible return, bring up an interesting question.

Right now IT has the On3 affiliation and IIRC, Bobby Burton is an investor in on3.

Does OTF end up bumping IT and become the official University of Texas affiliate for on3?

I, for one, would like to see that happen.

He was pretty good in the NFL. Not shitting on the hire, just wondering about the gap in his resume. Was he coaching somewhere in 21, 22, 23? He was a coaching intern for the Steelers in 2019 and the DB coach for Missouri State in 2020, but what has he been doing in the meantime?

But since you're asking, maybe peep his instagram page? https://www.instagram.com/southcity22/?hl=en
