I can see that.  Regardless, I'm very happy with vanilla.

Most coaches want to do it the vanilla way. Accumulate the best possible talent through recruiting, develop your talent to its' full potential, create a winning process and make sure you can win in many ways. Few can execute the formula. Leach on the other hand said I never call run plays the QB audibles into run plays, I can win with lesser talent because I will teach them to execute at a high level, defense what is that? I will ruffle everyone's feathers because I believe my way wins and in doing so he changed college football offenses in so many ways.

I don't doubt that at all.  What I found amusing was the take that hiring Sarkisian rather than Leach would have been a significant downgrade.  Lucky for us, Sarkisian stayed put at 'Bama until we called.

I didn't take it that way. I thought of the grenade launcher in a different context - more along the lines of, if asked, which coach is a bull in a china shop? or who is going to come in and shake things up and do it in a way that is not the standard way (i.e. vanilla)?

    a) Steve Sarkisian

    b) Mike Leach

This didn't age well.  I wasn't receipt hunting.  This is just where I apparently stopped following this thread.

Sarkisian did say he was approached before Texas by a few programs and turned them down and then jumped on the Texas opportunity when it came up.

Poor aggy, they so badly want to win this category, but they can't even win at being a loud cult because their team sucks most years. On the other hand, I don't care if you can hear crickets at our stadium as long as we're winning all the games we play at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium. Although it's fun when it's loud, but we all know that only happens from time to time. The fact that we have to talk about a game that happened in 1990, when there was a track around the field and an open end zone, as the loudest says it all.

Now that this has been shown we are not like the other Texas school it is time for Texas to start pushing for the SEC championship game to be moved to New Orleans or go the BIG XII way and have it go back and forth between Dallas and Atlanta.

Halfway between Austin, TX and Gainesville, FL

The best city between Austin, TX and Gainesville, FL to meet is New Orleans, Louisiana which is about 29 miles from the exact midpoint.

Uncle DeLoitte thinks they can regulate college football?

Maybe DeLoitte saw an opportunity to fleece College Football. They will just approve most everything and charge a ton doing it.

So delusional.  Just because they return most of their shitty OL, it doesn’t mean they’re going to be opening holes for their running game.

    Hook’em!!!

Billy says they would have done it last year if our RBs didn't get hurt and assures us they will do it this year you stupid sip.

I learned from South Park that an old fashion is a hand job. Not sure where that fits into the gay spectrum.

    From urban dictionary

    Spoiler

Old Fashion. Share definition. An unlubricated and painful handjob, usually performed instead of sexual intercourse, much to the dismay of the male involved.

As a fan of a school in the Big 12, I'm don't know that I even care all that much about which method (between these two) ends up getting selected.  I know that my school (and the other schools in this league) isn't going to win a natty.  I don't see a massive difference in outcome from one method to the other.  I just want to know that my school is allowed to objectively play it's way in, and the game stops getting farther away from the sport I fell in love with.  I'm fine with the allocation of the 4-4-2-2 model (I think it's fair), I just don't like the idea of an invitational (the codifying different strata doesn't bother me as much as it does the decision makers).

I think 5/11 because I think it makes for a better product (I enjoy conference championship games) and I think a pure invitational kinda sucks as a sports fan.  I'll watch regardless as long as my school is allowed to participate.

This just doesn't seem like a situation with an obvious best choice from my perspective.  There are existential risks in either path.  We don't have much control anyhow, and what's going to happen in this support for good or bad will happen regardless of the Big 12 or ACC.

You are so wrong with your non competitive argument. The World Cup has automatic qualifiers and folks have to play their way in. Italy was knocked out of the last World Cup after winning the Euro. No committee would have ever left them out but they were knocked out by playing the games based on the group they were put into. No committee would have selected UTSA but when you play the games shit happens. In this case the automatic qualifiers are awarded by the games played within your conference.

Sankey got what he wanted when he entrapped the BIG XII by saying I want ideas and not people that complain about the good of the game. So Yormark takes the contrarian stance to seem independent and Sankey jumps on it.

If being in the SEC has taught me anything at all, it’s that people who root for conferences are even weirder than I thought. I could not possibly give less of a fuck about any of these teams.

I wish I could be that way today but I am enjoying watching them lose.
