  1. Two things can be true. Getting bruised by UGA doesn't equate to not having acquired SEC intensity on the line. Not when you're 8-1 in that SEC
  2. 49-17. These MF's just say anything.
  3. I don't know if Howe got his first sentence on Sark's talent acquisition strategy from someone inside the program, or from just watching recruiting unfold that way like the rest of us. However it went, I think that plan makes a ton of sense from a roster building perspective. We've been told that WR under Sark requires tons of mental bandwidth, but I've watched transfers come in and immediately kill it the last couple seasons. Running backs are everywhere during portal season. I want Texas to win every big recruitment like I'm sure we all do, but I really like the LOS wins and having the QB nailed down two years out.
  4. All while landing Top 3 classes. It’s a message board, so folks have to complain, but this is rarified air.
  5. That last part is where it's at. The retention of the two-deep talent right now is insane. Shit, roster retention as a whole from All-Americans down to the developmental guys is competing to be the gold standard right now in college football. I have zero idea on the staff's strategy when it comes to raising the floor for OOS recruitments, etc. - but I think they're involved in most of these because they genuinely want the kid and feel they have a chance to win them. LB recruiting OOS has been laser focused on the very best guys in the country with no wavering or flinching. When Atkinson and Griffin recruitments seemed to cool, Thomas Davis Jr. was hoping for/expecting/lobbying for an offer (especially as Texas staffers began heavily recruiting Greater Charlotte). The staff kept their powder dry. They are going to get guys they truly want, and they aren't good with "settling".
  6. Washington is owed some ass whoopings as well. Husky Stadium is a great environment, and they got good weed. Make it happen.
  7. I'm at the age where lots of my friends/teammates/frat brothers have kids that are being recruited. There was a great deal of excitement around the House settlement in the past few months, but now most of them are just confused. This means that folks (even those who are formally educated), are becoming more reliant on intermediaries to help decipher what promises are realizable in this landscape. I'm trying to find the right words to say that this year, there is even more of an opportunity for schools or go betweens to overpromise. The positive is that some of that will come out in the wash prior to "signing day", or whatever will be in its place this year. Sucks as a fan of recruiting, but there will be plenty of decommits this year as people figure this stuff out. We were talking about this at a track meet last weekend, and it was like fifth graders trying to explain the federal reserve.
  8. Really cool with the staff taking a hard pass on this one. As it stands, retention is tough as shit in this landscape. Imagine having to re-recruit this guy every year until 2029-2030. Kids are notoriously mercurial and selfish - some kids (and their uncles) more than others. Too much squeeze for TBD juice.
  9. That’s it. That’s the fucking comp! They list him at 275 in high school, but he ate himself into a Heze comp that freshman year playing DT. I’d take a Jason Peters
  10. 11th grade Heze Kent has Pro Bowl Eric Green by about 30 pounds of bad weight. I hope it works though. Shaping up to be a really good recruiting weekend
  11. I would be out of my depth arguing with anyone on this staff about a take. I created a Tight End that looked like him one season on NCAA 2005 or so. Worked like a charm.
  12. He’s an athlete. That’s for sure. I just can’t find a TE comp in my mental Rolodex. I pulled up a pic of Keith Jackson, and he looked like Jack Lalane compared to Heze. I love the idea of getting him on campus, but TE seems like a super stretch
  13. I wanna be on board with this recruitment, but unless they add another number after that 7, I just don’t see this kid ever playing a snap. That Agbo role possibly, but ain’t no way otherwise. Prove me wrong Heze, I want all the kids to win big.
  14. I hate that the numbers are probably gonna send this kid East on I-10. Don’t know much about him as a player, but really would’ve liked a big nasty with a closed cage facemask. Shit is nostalgic 🤷🏿‍♂️
  15. That kid looks genuinely happy. Like he just cracked the code to life. Calculator.
  16. PFF telling the idiot OP to STFU in the kindest terms possible.
  17. This is so refreshing. A coach close to the apex of the profession with a willingness to seek and implement new ideas around his program. I remember the Herman hire and early years where the program was an echo chamber. The guy put up a wall around the program, extending to former players and anyone with a voice other than his own. There are so many great minds and ideas around football and team development in general - gruntling to see Sark be agnostic to where/who they come from.
  18. Agree overwhelmingly with the Ant Hill take. He can do it all as it stands. I'm talking about those heavier packages when you'll need Ant Hill and another ILB in tandem that can diagnose the fit and stuff a lead block or clean up the tackle (Aaron Harris and Bobino vs Lendale White) or Ant Hill and Gbenda on several occasions last year. I did watch Brad Spence's highlights, and there was tape of him doing this thing well. To be clear, this is a Championship defense. Probably better than last year's. Not calling the baby ugly in the least.
  19. Tough to find a weakness at any spot. I would've loved a thumper type ILB to backfill the role Gbenda played last year. Lefau is the better football player, and will make splashier plays but Gbenda made some very solid plays in late down/short yardage situations. There was a 4th and 1 stop against A&M on their second or third drive that changed the complexion of that game pretty early. Never desirable to count on a freshman, but Bo Barnes may be able to provide some snaps in those situations akin to freshman Bobino on the 05' team. However it shakes, I'm picking at nits here and really searching for any potential holes.
  20. The one degree of separation turn we've taken here makes this a fine time to admit that I've actually known Johntay Cook since he was born. My brother ran track with his aunt at Tech and decided to marry her. This past year with Tay isn't a blip on the radar of shit we've gone through with them since 2003 or so. Hoping a change of scenery does him well. https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/crime/crime-reporters-notebook/family-of-dallas-woman-deanna-cook-murder-was-recorded-911-call-reflects-fight-for-justice/287-9ee149ca-4609-45dc-b01c-a530eadb26a7
  21. Damnit Johntay, look what you started.
  22. That's a wild take. While geography may not move the needle like a big ole bag of money, the school's location is definitely included in the calculus for most of these kids. It's also helpful to the program when kids enjoy the area enough to stay put during the summer months prior to Fall Camp. The continuity built during pass shell and summer S&C can be the difference in a championship season. The city of Austin is a feather in the cap of Texas recruiting.
  23. Sark is holding his nuts on these bitches. In my community, this is equivalent to swinging one’s dick. The more you know.
