  1. your example he borrowed 5% and then he shifted to 10% of his total holdings. sure bankruptcy, but come on... walmart, amazon, apple, microsoft... that's black swan shit. the only way you get fucked on pledging stock as a billionnaire is you don't. yeah he might sell out of choice or he might pledge more for the bank's requirements, but he's not getting bent over for lifestyle borrowings and worse case he sells $25B of stock and pays if off. he still has 90% of his wealth even if it was cut in half. even then when the company turns around, buy back more stock to further increase your wealth back to where it was. rinse and repeat. you and I lose our shirts pledging brokerage accounts, billionaires do not.
  2. then he pledges more and doesn't sell. or he sells voluntarily because he chose to. the guy isn't getting backed into a corner on his personal liquidity.
  3. hardly doubt the lender makes him sell much of his stock. your math was 5% LTV and now it's 10% LTV, no issue.
  4. not when you borrow $25B on $500B in stock value. we can all get our faces ripped off at 50-75% LTV on a stock portfolio for sure. It's very hard to fathom how easy it with the leverage of extreme wealth. it's almost incomprehensible.
  5. okie-dokie... btw, if you had any imagination and clarity of thought other than to attack posters like rabid hyenas you'd long ago figured out who I am and why I changed my handle.
  6. fuck off I didn't say my thoughts were a mess, I've stated the premise clearly more than once. your boy CTJ just decided to rail on two words. I said conversations about Arky can devolve because most of us hate Arky so saying anything remotely positive is met with how do you assholes describe it? sandy fucking vaginas. jesus, stop taking yourself so internet seriously, you can have the crown no one here give a rats ass.
  7. and you can have runner up my man! always second to CTJ but good trying.
  8. not really "moving the goalposts" I wrote short hand, you played a gotcha game and wouldn't let me explain for the betterment of the conversation. and your buddy syndney jumped on. look the premise has been stated MULTIPLE times, if you disagree great, if you don't I don't care, if you want to argue over lazy internet message board typing then rock on my man. you win the internet for today! congrats. fuck it, i'll grant you all time GOAT status too!
  9. I wasn't raising the wealth tax issue. although I could see taxable debt as a thing.
  10. it got garbled up i'll admit. this topic about UA always does because most of us hate them to some degree and others are sending their kids there and love it. happens like clockwork when you mention UA being a shitty place to be. my premise remains this: UA has the school, the natural beauty, the coeds, the SEC experience, the game day experience, the rabid fan base, and enough wealth around it to be better than the bottom half or in the cellar of the conference. That's the "top notch" I'm referring to. I think they could easily be on par with or better than Ole Miss. I really think it's not even debatable that the Pigs are wallowing in their own misery because of a fatal cultural flaw that is no one's fault but theirs. They whine and bitch about it, but they haven't done a damn thing about it to make their football program better and they have way more resources than many. that's it. and if that's confusing, well, I don't know what else to fucking tell you.
  11. once off the football board, your views are in line with the majority. I for one prefer larger mountains and the ocean for opting out of the rat race. but you are talking about UA the way I meant for a kid who is considering playing football. cute coeds, beautiful country, SEC, rabid fan base, cool gameday experience, and oddly more than a few billionaires to fund their program. their failure is 100% on them and no one else.
  12. once you hit the kind of income and wealth that I mentioned it's the exact opposite and it's extremely regressive. employment taxes are regressive as well taxing only the first $175,000. I agree at the very, very bottom it's progressive, but it isn't for the middle 50% compared to the benefits at the very tip top.
  13. we are talking about football players on this thread. not a student's experience, however, putting my extreme bias against UA aside, see below. I 100% acknowledged UA is on the rise. my "I don't give a fuck" about their academics was in relation to talking about football players experience. My kids are avoiding SEC all together so it's not something I will start caring about, but suffice it to say, a lot of UT Exes who have sent their kids to UA have a very similar view as you do.
  14. To be clear, I ain’t roaming around here actively trying to solve their problem. I’m saying fuck them, they have enough wealth circling around and enough going for them that Arkansas does not have to wallow in the mud of the SEC cellar, it may be who they are, but that’s on them. They have what is needed to have reasonable success in this era and I have no sympathy for them holding on to their loser mentality so they can have a built in excuse for losing and be able to point the finger at others and laugh when they have fleeting moments of glory. It’s a personality flaw, fuck them.
  15. You have to start with major tax reform making taxes progressive not regressive. That does mean the billionaires and hundred millionaires and probably even the $50+ millionaires are going to scream bloody murder. then you add tax policies to further assist the bottom 50%, credits, refunds, etc related to things that matter - childcare, college, home buying, etc. then you have to do what every other civilized country does and provide health care for all. Having a healthcare system that leaves a family one illness from bankruptcy is shameful. SS will probably have to suffer significant reforms, increase retirement ages, decrease benefits and means test it but that will cause millions to scream bloody murder too. tariffs are dumb, they are a hideously regressive tax. Those need to go immediately, but there is one massive problem for all of us. The debt. Truth be told, there’s no way the US is paying its way out of this mess, so expect inflation just below the pain threshold for upper incomes. But hopefully with tax increases and better support for the working class, we can raise more revenue, spend more yes but at a slower clip than increased revenue and then inflate our way out of the debt (and pay it off with future dollars worth 3-4x the current dollar). the debt piece tbqh is the most controversial but it’s just a reality we are going to have to confront.
  16. For a student experience yeah Arkansas is a top notch choice. Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of three “fuck no” schools for my kids. But just look at all the Texas exes parents sending their kids there, and some are regular posters here. Academics? No one gives a fuck. But they have a solid fan base, nice undergrad experience, there’s no reason Arky can’t be as successful as Ole Miss, at least. didn’t realize JJ was per se excluded because of NFL ownerhip. That’s good info. Thanks.
  17. I enjoyed billionaire bunker anyone else? Frustrated no titties even though plenty of sex and romantic tension. I’m a sucker for post apocalyptic shows tho so I’ll readily admit my love for the genre made forgiving some of the silliness easy. definitely thought provoking when it comes to AI scams that are headed our way.
  18. 1. Get off the rancid platform known as fb. 2. watch the show it’s unbelievable.
  19. I dunno, call me old fashion, but if I’m going down hard it’s gonna be with bourbon not gin and vermouth.
  20. Their problem to solve but it’s on them, they have the resources.
  21. We haven’t won shit, strictly based on prove it to me on the field Texas isn’t shit. Now do I think Texas finishes 12th? Hahaha, no fucking way. But right now who cares.
  22. Honestly, Arkansas has no one to blame but themselves, they have the Walmart fortune and the JJ fortune to recruit but haven’t. $20M from those two families combined is nothing and would buy a helluva roster. The school and area are top notch. Losers gonna lose I guess. But if Phil knight can make Oregon, arky can gets is billionaires to step up. This is entirely on them.
  23. Tighter love holes for the win.
  24. Forgot about that one.
