454 Casull Ruger Alaskan is my bear gun of choice. Shoots a 45 colt when not in bear land. Took it fishing last year on the Kenai Penninsula.
Seems like it checks all the boxes

Had several over 25 and a 22" flounder down there a few weeks ago. Caught a bunch of trout between 18-25 , went and got a very quick 4 man limit of reds, and went back to look for big trout. Tournament didnt allow anything over slot on trout, but we ended up with a really nice 24-3/4" type late in the day. Everything over 25 went back of course. I dont think we traveled more than 5 miles or so all day. Ended up with 4 man limit of trout, reds, and that nice founder. Pretty epic fishing but my god it was crowded. 1st week of June.
Talk to me about location if you don't mind, I'm headed back down soon

Abbott is shutting down bars again. Is Laguna Bob’s a restaurant or bar? Fuck I’m going down there for the 4th and it’s my favorite place to chill and drink in the evenings. They do serve food but I think they might be 51%
Laguna Bob’s is closed.
but Wanna Wanna is open for take out, including alcohol. Walk down the beach, get a turbo pina to go
and one of my favorite hidden gems is also on the beach, the Palms Cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner and drinks.

Very subjective but what is y’all’s recommendation for fried seafood down on spi or isabel?
Catch your own, take to Capn Roy for 3 ways, blackened fried and grilled, 2 sides = 8 bucks

It’s good fishing, we routinely slay them. Troll for kings at the jetties, tarpon are possible, so are snook. It’s the best place on the Texas coast.

That sure is a pretty set up you have there. I need to get an XL with optic to go with my usual every day carry P365.
Somedays it stays home and I go old school though. Today was one of those days.

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly defrauding the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of more than $2 million.
Federal authorities said Michael George McQuarn, 51, of Austin, submitted fraudulent applications in April 2020 for two fictitious companies he created – Vantastic Voyages, LLC and Happy Days Movers, LLC – to secure SBA-backed PPP loans.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McQuarn claimed the funds were for legitimate business purposes, when in fact the money was used for his own personal use, including purchasing a 26-foot Pavati Wake Boat and a Rolls Royce. It is alleged McQuarn fraudulently received an excess of $2 million in PPP funds.someone want to get the edit here??

On the bright side I'm hearing about projects opening back up and we're getting new business to quote now. I hope this "second wave" doesn't bring things to a grinding halt. It's just beginning to look like there might be a light at the end of the tunnel for us.
That's exactly what's going to happen.
Thanks, Greg.

SPI is safer than here. Come on down. There's nothing to worry about.
Rent a place on the beach, or near a beach access point. They've all been heavily improved with walkways that reach the beach and showers.
Get your groceries. Bring what you need but the Marlin has ample supplies. Buy some shrimp at the Quick Stop. Grill your food.
Go fishing. Take a nap. Go to the beach, get zapped, hop in the pool, cook out, rinse, repeat.

Heading down ahora. Eating everything except one meal in. Any recommendations for said meal out?
Cap’n Roy’s is good and cheap. Damn good cheese enchiladas and fried seafood. Gabriella’s is always a good choice. Yummies for breakfast.
But we usually eat in with fresh caught fish or get shrimp from the Quick Stop.

Hot damn! As posed, that's one elapid-looking colubrid.
This indigo stuff is awesome. Thanks to all for the vids, pics, and commentary.
They really do look like a cobra, with their nose and black, empty eyes with brow, don't they? They got some pretty swole necks too.
Amazing that a snake that is not venomous, not a constrictor and is not entirely immune to venom is the top dog....but it is, based on sheer size, aggression and agility, the strength of its bite, and its propensity to smash it's prey into the ground or nearby objects!

Ha. McMullen Co. that’s where I used to hunt. What ranch were you on? We were on the old Wenzt place where Highway 99 dead ended at a pipe gate south of Choke Canyon.
Miles place, just south of the Nueces

That's a Great Plains Ratsnake, a/k/a Emory's Ratsnake (Pantherophis emoryi)

Yes they are. Not clear on a pound per pound basis vs. kingsnake but the biggest indigo would take the biggest king 9.5 times out of 10

that's cool, I'd love to see that in person
only time I've see a man levitate right out of a chair and run thru the air was when a big Indigo came from behind him and between the legs of his folding chair while dove hunting down in the free state of McMullen County

That mouth breather waited outside for four days when she could’ve shown up 10 minutes before it started and walked right in.

Agreed. After I watched it, I think I'd rather have a big Glock 40 or 10mm with +P ammo. More, faster, and practiced rounds downrange when the SHTF. And a capacity for a warning shot or two without feeling like you're compromising safety.
