DAs covering for lying shitbag cops?  Never heard of it happening before...

Same shit happened to me yesterday when I exposed a cop committing perjury and tampering with a governmental record on an essential allegation in a search warrant affidavit.....and then I got him to admit he had done it a few more times!

Prosecutor: “Yes, he misstated what took place. But we felt it was nothing intentional.”

You may be right, but in the process of doing some instagram investigating, I stumbled upon this UT alum turned Mavericks dancer. The internet is wonderful.

Yeah.  HPD would never do anything like that.  Except, you know, it's a documented fact (from an actual court case) that it was a widespread department practice (read the below, and understand that "throwdowns" often came via seizing a gun from an earlier suspect):

The risk is too high?  It can't happen here?

It literally has happened -- hundreds/thousands of times.  You think that STOPPED after the Webster case?

I'm sure it happens. Do I think a 1977 event in Houston represents the current state of affairs? No. I've been doing this 22 years and have never been told by a client they had a gun seized but not accounted for.

Now, I'm just spitballin' here....but the deal is that 96% of his no knock warrants REPORTED no guns recovered.  My hypothesis is....maybe these cops were lying.  Maybe sometimes they DID recover some firearms, and instead of listing them on the report, they either kept them for their own use, kept them as potential throw-downs for future use, or sold them.  I know, WACKY hypothesis. Surely honest police officers like these would never do such a thing.

I doubt this is the case. Defense lawyers would be told this and make a stink unless the firearm was stolen, in which case the defendant would have probably been charged anyway. And theft of a firearm is a Texas felony and federal felony, and with firearms having serial numbers, it is much unlike pocketing some drug dealers cash or drugs. Not worth the exposure.

    Special Teams help too.....

"Coleman's primary role during his NFL career was as a kick returner, gaining 4,466 yards and two touchdowns returning kickoffs. He also added 384 yards and a touchdown returning punts, and caught 43 passes for 602 yards and three touchdowns. As a rookie, Coleman played in Super Bowl XXIX with the Chargers and set several Super Bowl records in the game: most kickoff returns (8), most return yards (244), and most total yards (244). Coleman had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the game, tied for the second longest kickoff return in Super Bowl history."

Headed to Aspen next week.  We've been before for skiing but it has been at least 10 years.  Please help with ideas for (1) getting lift tickets for less than the bend over price on the aspen snowmass website and (2) restaurant recs for less than bend over prices on food and wine.

Yes, I know it's Aspen and have full advance knowledge that I'll spend billions on this trip with the fam.  I'm just trying to see if there's a way to help avoid some of the bending overness.

    Amazing. The Doctine of Chances.

The attorney in the Houston news is a friend of mine. He had Goines on the road rage case where no gun was found but alleged. That summary of Goins sustained misconduct allegations was given to the media by him.

I think this is a murder case.

Tampering with a Government Record or Aggravated Perjury is the underlying felony for a felony murder.

if Goines was the actual shooter for both victims, it could be a capital murder, he cannot rely on the Public Duty defense knowing the warrant was false. If anyone else was aware of the falsity, and they were the shooter, or each killed one person, they are both parties to the offense under Ch 7 of the Penal Code. Or it could be an intentionally causing the death In course of a burglary, again knowing of the falsity of the warrant prevents the application of the Public Duty defense.

Tough case to make but the facts could be there.

  10. Hmmmm, felony murder for Tampering with Evidence.....

    We start homicide next week.

Last semester about the same time, it was Amber Guyger.

Cops sure give me wonderful teaching examples about killing people.

Someone with more knowledge of the law - can a cop with "throw down" drugs in his possession be charged just the same as a normal citizen would with possession of those drugs?

Obviously they probably wouldn't be charged but could they?

Yes. In addition to Tampering with Evidence it would also be Possession of Controlled Substance. I don't know whether there is an exception in the Health and Safety Code making lawful their possession of a controlled substance, or the Public Duty defense in Chapter 9 of the Penal Code justifies their possession, but possession under those circumstances would be negated regardless.

  12. @BTW

I found AA saver awards to Europe in 1st/business from AUS to Europe for 57,500/person in July.

The best I could do transferring to UA was about 100k, and I had to fly, in part, on some Polish airline, and the trip took forever.

I read your post and wondered what I could do with my Chase points via the UR portal on my CSR. For the same travel date, the best I could find was 198,000 UR points.

While booking AA award travel can be maddening, the deals are out there. I got a family of four done for 30+30 (kids in coach) + 57.5+57.5 (us in 1st/biz) there and 4x57.5 (everyone biz/1st) back for a total of 405,000 AA miles

Would any of you pay $300 for a BTAC that you had been hoping to find?  In other words 3x retail but well below secondary?

Yes. If you don't want it, PM me please. Thanks

What the hell is a Beretta ALS? Adjustable length stock? Google doesn’t show a model.

A400, A300, A391, 686. These are numbers that should follow Beretta.

The Beretta ALS is the Lou Gehrig signature model
