Those of us who were following the NBA in the early 80's figured this guy would be a perennial All-Star.  File under "Players who likely would have been Hall of Famers but for drugs" along with the likes of Len Bias, Marvin Barnes, etc.  Got overshadowed to an extent by the Lakers v. Celtics rivalry, Magic v. Bird, etc., but he could do it all.  But, as Rick James once said, cocaine is a helluva drug.  Glad he was able to kick it later in life, but it (along with Richardson's own terrible choices) ruined a really promising career.
