A few things for the board that might be new or helpful: 1) Despite the naive take from denizens here that Brandon Harris is some sort of beloved character with recruits, a lot of recruits didn’t care for him. Miller and Bryce Anderson add two examples of recruitments where Harris was proven to have hurt UT’s chances, not aided them. He’s viewed as very immature and out of his depths by numerous parents. 2) Saban passed on Earnest Greene and several other high quality recruits because he has plans for spots on the roster from the portal. Bama is actively recruiting players currently on other teams through relationships of the player. Expect multiple All Conference, if not All America, type players to magically transfer to Bama. 3) Jacoby Matthews remains a contender target that Texas thinks they will land. This is in part a byproduct of point #2. Saban hasn’t pushed for him. Kelly has landed the LSU role about as well as Ho Li Fuk and Sum Ting Wong could have. A lot of Louisiana players and handlers aren’t feeling him yet and that also impacts Matthews. So, Texas could fall ass backwards into this one and folks should keep paying attention there. 4) Not much is coming out of Belmont, so the conclusion that the Friday signing was Campbell is probable but not certain. 5) LTG, Abor, Campbell, and Matthews are the only long running recruitments that folks are taking seriously. Might be a new recruit or two that comes to light though. 6) It sounds like there’s a lot of confidence with various targets in the portal, including WR.59 points

The entire thing is just so aggy. The last 2 bowl games aggy fans wouldn't shut up about "play the game" and "don't make excuses about opt outs". The moment it looks like aggy would be at a disadvantage they puss out of their bowl game. Then you have the fact their entire history is based on 12th man and players stepping up for a depleted roster. All bullshit. On top of that, you now have vocal anti-vaxxers/Covid deniers arguing to trust the science and to be cautious with Covid. It's truly remarkable yet so damn aggy. I don't know how these people aren't embarrassed. The saying "aggy jokes write themselves" couldn't be more true.12 points

Gotta say.. it's nice for the national media to have little actual college football news to talk about so they can spend eternity outing aggy for what we already know...9 points

Les Koenning is a Longhorn hero. Anyone that needed 2-3 players to hold them back from beating the shit out of Shawn Watson in practice is OK in my book8 points

Mehringer sucks so much that his bio on the UNM website struggles to find good things to say about his coaching career. https://golobos.com/coach/drew-mehringer/ Here is the highlight from his time at Florida Atlantic coaching receivers. Great job Drew. Under your tutelage, the wide receivers caught more passes than the other position groups on the team. Also no one died. Probably.8 points

I love the “Biden is a laughingstock to the whole world!” trope the Trunptards repeat…as if repetition will make it true. I just spent two weeks with a bunch of Europeans, including a senior editor at one of their larger news channels. I caught up on my back issues of the Economist. And, to keep up on euro Covid news, I was also reading English language versions of their news. The opinions of Biden and the coverage of him….is utterly mundane. Some stuff, they think is good. Other stuff, they aren’t crazy about. But not even a whiff of “he’s a laughingstock.” That’s self-delusional bullshit the MAGAs repeat to distract from the fact that TFG actually WAS a laughingstock. Literally. One of our German friends said she actually kind of misses him, because she knew she could start every day with a laugh. Every accusation is a confession, exhibit eleven billion.8 points

Bull-fucking-shit. Most GOP posters on this site are at least smart enough to pretend to not buy into all of the stolen election lies, but almost all of them downplay 1/6 and Trump's role in it, and, when pushed, fall back on "it's no worse than Russia, Russia, Russia!" They complete ignore the GOP rallying around those lies to push voter restrictions in their states. They'll look the other way when state governments try to nominate alternate electors again in 2024. In the right social circles, I have no doubt whatsoever that they're making jokes about mail-in votes and how "fishy" the blue wave was once everyone went to sleep. They sure as shit will have no issue voting for every Trumpy candidate moving forward. You'll never vote for a Democrat no matter how disgustingly Trumpy the GOP candidate is. Please, for the love of god, spare me the "we realize the damage that Trump has done, and don't support it any more than you do" rhetoric.7 points
