  1. Smart! I try to avoid them at all costs. It's like trying to have an intelligent conversation with 1,000 Johnny Sacks.

  7. That whole segment is so stupid and ridiculous. Haberman was a cheerleader/stenographer for Trump for years and she failed to report any of this in real time but waited to put it in a book after he was of office. She gets no credit from me at all. This toilet story distracts from the bigger issues of Trump's lawbreaking and Haberman's questionable journalistic ethics.

  8. Why is the current governor of Texas allowing all of this fentanyl to flow into the state? And why is he blaming a private citizen for his failures?

  9. 18 months IS significantly compressed! There are only two types of nursing degrees that you can get in 18 months. An accelerated BSN for people who already have a bachelor's degree and an LVN degree. LVNs aren't even allowed to pass out meds in a lot of facilities. They absolutely can't take care of critical covid patients, or even non-critical COVID patients. Most hospitals don't hire LVNs anymore. They typically now work in clinics and SNFs, and usually have to work under an RN's supervision. No disrespect to them, because it's an underappreciated yet critical gig, but "vocational" is in the acronym for a reason. As for accelerated degrees, speaking as a nurse who has one, it's all well and good to be a nurse on paper. It's quite another in practice. The nurses who got their degrees and began practicing during COVID have been trained to much lower standards and with significantly fewer resources than prior years. Just the type of nurse you want taking care of your loved ones. Fucking awful time to be a patient in the hospital. Be careful and try to stay healthy.

  12. Not to derail, but the Michael/Toby dynamic is one of my favorite parts of "The Office" "Michael Scott : If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with Hitler, bin-Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice."

  13. It's incredible to watch Rockets fans continue to stan for Harden after he choked away multiple playoff series, ran off Chris Paul in favor of fucking Westbrook, and then quit on his team and forced his way out. I mean Kawhi won a finals MVP for the Spurs and he'd still be shot dead by 75% of the Spurs thread.

  14. As a Chinese American, I don't like it. I think she could have made money here too. But I also don't think it's anything nefarious what Gu's doing. I think she's just capitalizing on her stardom to make as much money as possible. Window is pretty short typically for Olympic athletes. She does invite tons of criticism and I think some of y'all feel a lot stronger about this because she's of Chinese descent. And it's fucking China (fuck them). And that's ok, we all have our built-in biases. But I wonder if some of y'all would be as vigorous in your criticism if she was Scandinavian descent and just won a gold for Norway.

  15. I’m genuinely confused here. Maybe I just need to watch more FOX News. Of course the shift from the Democrats is political and based on what the hearing/seeing from the electorate - bad poll numbers, dwindling support for COVID measures among Democratic voters, etc. We all agree on that, right? Where you start to lose me is the assertion that elected officials changing policy based on public opinion means they stand for nothing and are desperate to stay in power? I mean, isn’t representing their constituents kind of an elected official’s job? The implication here is that you think the job of elected officials is to be resolute in their stance no matter what new information is presented to them. I mean, I can’t argue with that if that’s what you really believe, but that’s incredibly stupid and childish. Since you mentioned the Governor’s race, I’m sure you’re just beside yourself with righteous indignation given his much Greg Abbott has changed his approach to appease the MAGA crowd? Otherwise this is a standard you just invented that applies only to Democrats. If I didn’t know any better I’d say this entire “issue” grasping at straws to bitch about Democrats, but there’s just no way you’d be doing that, right?

  17. Not every story is as compelling and interesting as other stories. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t worth telling. The series overall was a step down from The Mandalorian, but it had some great moments. - I’ve always thought the Tuskens were pretty cool, so it was fun to spend some time with them. - Cobb Vanth and Freetown standing on their own against the Pykes. - Krrsantan ripping off arms. - Boba riding the Rancor. - Boba standoff with Cad Bane. - The Rancor rampage. - More top notch Mando/Grogu story from episodes 5 & 6 It seems that storytellers can’t catch a break. One of the biggest complaints from fans is that characters don’t have an arc. Now fans are complaining that Boba Fett has changed. I get that some people are disappointed that the show didn’t 100% meet their expectations, but anyone that says this series sucks can’t be taken seriously.

  22. As in, we are all absolutely certain. The Spirit Animal of Texas is a Leatherneck Bottle Blonde with a tree frog voice croaking for attention in a Bandera bar as she bums Marlboro Reds from her last month's mistake while making eyes at the college kids who just walked in fumbling at phones and fake IDs.

  30. anti-vaxxers are making it a lot harder to get through this pandemic. that's a fact. trumpers are going to do stupid shit (unrelated to covid) that we cannot control. that's another fact. where i live has a very high % of vaccination, so maybe i'm insulated from the ignorance. i have the brainpower to understand both sides of the argument, but also the clarity to feel comfortable and confident with the decisions i've made. selfishly, a prolonged pandemic is hurting my business, because a lot of what i do is in events. anti-vaxxer nonsense has been around since well before covid. it was nonsense then and it's nonsense now. what bothers me more is when dumb, impressionable people get taken for a ride by the snake-oil salesmen with the big megaphones who make everything political. they're literally killing people. as for trump and all his absolute horribleness and his inability to shut the fuck up, it's his silence on covid that has caused the most damage. dude was within an inch of his life and he knew it. he also got the best treatment in the universe as well as every possible vaccine and booster. he could've put an end to a lot of suffering and chose not to in the name of political expediency. fucking sad.
