  5. Since all these loons can get elected to office I am considering making a run myself. I will run as a Republican and my trademark will be the guy that says weird shit nobody understands. Most of my phrases will be from Surly. During debates expect to hear "Muledick" a lot. When pressed for an answer my reply will be "PM Derka". When another candidate mentions his wife I will say "Pics or get the fuck out!" Then follow up with "Rules, mother fucker." As long as I blame Socialist Islamic Atheist Queer Dark Skinned Pedophiles running the Deep State I think I might be able to pull it off.

  9. My rates for law school were split between 6.7/7.8. I had a full ride for undergrad, half ride for law school and still had 100k in loans. I paid them off aggressively, but I don’t hold any ill will towards others who are able to get them cancelled. It shouldn’t cost so much for anyone to pursue higher education, much less graduate degrees, particularly as they are pre reqs for the overwhelming majority of jobs (we can’t all be plumbers). Just like with the homeless, the uninsured and the elderly, we pay for all these people and their choices (or lack thereof) one way or another. Often times it’s the proactive solutions that are ultimately the cheapest (and will pay dividends down the road) and yet so many people insist on being fairness or morality scolds. It’s bizarre.

  10. I know this has been posted before, but it's so goddamned spot on it should be posted every few pages here. Every word is completely unassailable. Even the most ardent trump supporter could not credibly find a single misstatement or untruth. I often struggle to fully articulate the problems with this man because there is seemingly something dumber every second. This summary is just so fucking right.

  13. This is false. A young Angelina Jolie was sultrier, curvier, and more screamingly hot than Fox could have dreamed of. Fox is absolutely the off brand Jolie. A young Jolie is up there with a young Jennifer Connolly or Monica Belluci as “the reason we invented cameras.”

  14. Maybe they got tired of him asking 5 minute questions and not leaving guests enough time to answer. "Hey coach, here's something I've been thinking about for a while now. It just seems like things are upside down right now, and I'll tell you what. I just don't understand it. I really don't. I really don't. You have guys that are supposed to be getting a college education, and they are just chasing money now. Just dollar signs. I don't understand it. I mean, where have we gotten to? What place have we gotten to? How did we get here? I mean, it's been on my mind for a long time now. It's been brewing but now it's here. It really is. It's here. And I don't think it's right. What about the kid's education? I mean, it's a college sport, not a professional sport. It's not even the minor leagues. It's a-ma-teur athletics. But now you are paying players, using NIL and whatever else, and the college education is just an irritation. It really is. I mean, I just don't know how we let ourselves get into this situation. I really don't. But it just seems to me that we've lost sight of what's really important here. I don't know, is that just me? Do others see it the way I do? Maybe I'm just crazy, I don't know. Maybe I'm just out to lunch with this whole deal. But it just seems wrongheaded to me. It really does. I'll tell you what, it really does. Totally, totally wrongheaded. Your thoughts?"

  15. I may be naive and idealistic but I don’t think a person who desires a college education should have to borrow large sums of money to get one. I also don’t think retirees should have to take out a loan to get necessary dental work done.

  21. I firmly believe that guaranteed student loans is a huge money grab for the banks and schools. The taxpayer was already the safety net. Banks can grant loans without risk. Colleges can raise tuition costs without losing attendance. Student borrowers are made debt slaves who can't even bankrupt themselves. You get students graduating with something akin to a small house loan. The banks and schools line their pockets. It's sinister. A million years ago when I went to UT, you could pay for a the long semesters if you got a solid summer job. If you worked on an oil rig, you could live like a king in Austin. Then they put the frogs in the slowly warming water.

  28. It was Thanksgiving 1986, at the tender age of 16 that I realized my family was different. For the first time, I brought a girlfriend to the family Holiday dinner. She was a good girl from a good family, and she wasn't ready for what that day would bring. Uncle Garry had been drinking since about 10 AM, while smoking cigarettes on the back porch. It was late afternoon when my Grandmother announced that dinner was ready and we should head to the table. Typical set up of young kids at a small table to the side and the rest of us circling the family table in the dining room. As we sit, Uncle Garry sits directly next to my date. As tradition would have it, we would all take turns to proclaim what we were most Thankful for that year. When it came to my girlfriend, she said "I am thankful for having a great boyfriend and getting to spend this holiday with his family", and a round of awwwwws spread throughout the room. Next up Uncle Garry, who mumbles a few words and then turns to my girlfriend and says, "So, how long did you make him wait before he got a little stinky on his pinky?" 1/2 the family was in shock, 1/2 in laughter and my elder grandma in confusion as she didn't hear/understand what was said. I was mortified, but not surprised and that was the last family Holiday that young lady attended with me. Fast forward about 5 years....set up is exactly the same as in 1986. Bible thumping Sherry's son decides that he is most thankful "to have a loving family that I know will support me, even though I am gay." Complete despair spread across Aunt Sherry's face, as she finally heard what most of the family had known for years. Her son, a supposed child of God, was homosexual. As she regained her composure, she broke the silence by asking if there were any other bombshells he wanted to drop, to which he replies, "Yes, I also got a tattoo, but its hidden on my hip where no one will see." Sherry musters the strength to ask what the tattoo says....and before he could answer, Uncle Garry blurts "It says I'm a Queer, Stick it Here!" And the road goes on forever and the party never ends.
