I really do want to see Chris Beard reinstated. I'm sure a lot of us do, but we don't all have the same reasons. I want to be clear about my motivations. It's not because Beard has, in a very short time, elevated Texas basketball to the point where even a guy like me who just doesn't really like the sport very much is suddenly interested in it. That's a pretty important side-benefit, but it's not the main reason. It's not because I doubt his fiancee's initial accusations or anything. Domestic abuse is a really awful issue that destroys lives, and we need to take these things as seriously as possible, while not also ending up in witch hunts (Duke lacrosse, holla). It's also not because of the salty tears from Tech fans that would follow, although that absolutely would make reinstatement deliciously fun. All of those things are really important considerations, but they're not why I want Beard reinstated. I want Beard reinstated because I am a petty, awful person and I really want to see BitterWhiteGuy's meltdown after the fact.35 points

JFC we just signed a top WR prospect and you people are clutching your pearls over his 100m time, Neyorβs injury, and the WR room in general. Canβt you surly bastards enjoy the fucking moment? For fuckβs sake.25 points

You might be misreading the room a bit. I like you more than most sooners, but you're still a dirty, cheating shitbag who deserves sports misery for a century. No offense and happy holidays, methy prick.21 points

Alright, we got offense out of the way, let's take stock of the defensive side of the 2023 class. Defensive Linemen - Sydir Mitchell Misses - David Hicks, Hunter Osborne, Markis Deal, Roderick Pierce, Dylan Spencer Sydir Mitchell is a goddamn beast with a rare skillset. Watch this senior tape: 3x State Champ. Senior Year - Sydir Mitchell highlights - Hudl. When I see a kid listed at 6'5", 340 pounds playing in New Jersey, I expect to see him throwing opponents around like Godzilla swatting airplanes out of the sky. And Sydir is most definitely physically outclassing everyone on the field, but look at how he's beating those kids. He's not just bull-rushing straight through overmatched opponents, he's using his hands to beat attempted blocks and flashing a lot of acceleration once he's won initial contact. Check out the spin move at 1:00, look at that swim at 1:32, look at the way he sheds the run block at 2:46. The only question I have is does he have the conditioning to give us 30-40 snaps at that level per game? If so, that's first round talent. I do wish we had picked up one more interior guy, but we loaded up on big bodies in 2022 and we got the best guy on our board. I think the staff prioritized scholarships elsewhere, namely.... Edge - Tausili Akana, Colton Vasek, Derion Gullette, Billy Walton Misses - Braylan Shelby Holy shit, you think the coaches noticed we have a pass-rush problem? I love Tausili Akana. His senior film dropped about two weeks ago: senior season - Tausili Akana highlights - Hudl. First step, closing speed, length and frame, it's all there. Also, dude is just hype all the time, popping right up after he makes a play, flexing, shit-talking. Check him out after the sack at 3:15. Yeah, let him fucking know about it, Tausili. I've heard criticism that he's 19 and therefore "physically maximized," which is absurd. Jerrin Thompson and Jaylan Ford got run over by Kansas as 19 year-old sophomores, one year later they look like completely different players. Everyone has their own developmental curve and we won't know Akana's until he gets on campus, but he's got all the tools to be an elite rusher. Vasek isn't as quite as quick as Akana, but he's better at taking on blocks and he's relentless. Colton Vasek 4-0 Highlights - Colton Vasek highlights - Hudl. Check out the clip at 0:08, he spins off the tackle AND swims the running back in the same play. That's a technically proficient, high-motor player. Derion Gullette's classification as "Edge" makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Am I wrong in assuming that "edge" means at least sometimes playing on the line with an expectation of taking on blocks? Is everyone else just better than me at projecting Gullette's skills to a different position in college? Whatever, here's his junior film: βοΈJunior Season Defensive HighlightsβοΈ - Derion Gullette highlights - Hudl. I see a guy playing exclusively off-ball linebacker and doing it rather fucking well. He's lining up outside in coverage, he's comfortable playing in space, he's clearly got fantastic sideline-to-sideline speed (and hopefully still does post-knee injury). I don't see a whole lot of taking on blocks, pass-rushing moves, or setting the edge. Wherever he ends up playing, I'm glad we have him. I like Billy Walton. Billy Walton Senior Highlights - Billy Walton highlights - Hudl. He doesn't have any one elite characteristic, he's just above-average-to-good at everything. He's the kind of player that Oklahoma State, TCU, and Baylor regularly turn into All-Big 12 selections. If he's willing to develop and wait to earn his snaps, I think he can be a solid contributor as an upperclassman. Could we have let Walton go to Oklahoma State or wherever and circled back in the portal in 3 years if he panned out? Maybe, but Walton's good enough that I don't feel bad about this take. This is a fantastic edge class. Missing on Shelby sucks because I think he's fantastic, but I like Akana even better and who could complain about this embarrassment of riches? Speaking of riches... Linebacker - Anthony Hill, S'Maje Burrell, Liona Lefau Misses - Not a Damn One PRAISE BE! There is only one LB Coach, who's true name is Choate, and Jaylan Ford is His prophet. I'm so happy that we have legitimately good, fundamentally sound linebacker play in Texas again. We're not just bringing in world-class athletes and telling them to go chase the ball. Malik, you deserved so much better. Anyway, the croots! Anthony Hill. 2022 Highlights. Only 6 Games Played - Anthony Hill Jr. highlights - Hudl. No, one is not enough. Take his junior highlights too. 2021 Highlights - Anthony Hill Jr. highlights - Hudl. He's elite at all the basic things, he has great closing speed, great size, he generates turnovers at a Ford-esque rate. He's wrapping up well, taking great angles to the ball carrier, moving decisively. In his senior film, he's making a lot of those plays after getting off of a block, which is a huge skill to learn for an off-ball linebacker. He's a day 1 starter beside Jaylan Ford. I love S'Maje Burrell as a compliment to Anthony Hill, but also as a player in his own right. Non District Highlights - SβMaje Burrell highlights - Hudl. Look at that beautiful drop back into zone coverage at 00:35. You think we could have used that on a few third downs this year? Gimme. Liona Lefau's tape is even better than Burrell's (though in fairness, Burrell's longest montage is from a few games and this is Lefau's full senior season). SR Highlights - Liona Lefau highlights - Hudl. He's laying guys out, running in stride with receivers in coverage, taking on and shedding blocks, and he looks even bigger than his listed 215 to me. Or maybe everyone else is just smaller. It is Hawaii, not exactly a competitive area for high school football. Still, that's a damn fine highlight reel. Anthony Hill is arguably the best LB prospect we've ever recruited to Texas in my lifetime and, top to bottom, this is without question the best LB class I have ever seen come to Texas. Secondary - Malik Muhammad, Derek Williams Misses - Peyton Bowen, Javien Toviano It's always hard to judge a cornerback by a highlight reel because, by the nature of the position, you doing your job means the quarterback looks somewhere else and the play never comes your way. And who's gonna make a clip of that? Still, there's a lot of positives to see in Malik Muhammad's junior tape: Malik Muhammad Highlights - Malik Muhammad highlights - Hudl. I think my favorite clip is at 1:31, that's a nice pop for a guy listed generously at 175. He shows soft hands and obvious deep speed as a wide receiver. In the few clips we have of his senior season so far, he's constantly playing tight man and running right with his guy: Malik Muhammad Senior Highlights - Malik Muhammad highlights - Hudl. I love how close he starts the play at 00:10, practically in the neutral zone. He sure as shit isn't afraid of anyone running past him. Derek Williams is a classic alley-filling strong safety. Derek Willaims Junior Year - Derek Williams highlights - Hudl. The athleticism jumps right off the screen in his running back highlights, Williams certainly does not lack for short area acceleration or top end speed. His safety clips show a player very comfortable moving forward and getting physical with the ball carrier. I do worry that we don't see a whole lot of coverage in these highlights. 00:36 shows a nice press man moment (although if you're wearing burnt orange in the Big 12, that's a defensive holding flag) and there are a few other moments in there, but nothing showing his ability to track deep balls, run with his man, or transition from backpedal to sprint. But he definitely has the speed, size, and ill temperament to be a terrifying enforcer in the middle of the field. Including Peyton Bowen as a miss is admittedly a stretch, we were never really in it for him and there's the whole signing day drama. But oh man, can that kid ball. After Jalen Hale, missing out on Bowen is the biggest miss of this class. He's a deep safety with elite coverage skills and incredible speed for a guy his size. We do not have that skillset on campus right now and we could really use it. Javien Toviano isn't as good as Malik Muhammad, but he's got the size to play safety or corner and that positional versatility would have been a great addition to the class. Overall thoughts on the 2023 Defensive Class Excellent defensive class top to bottom. We aggressively addressed our roster needs with top tier talent and numbers. And we didn't settle for the low-hanging fruit. Previous staffs would have taken guys like Markis Deal, Dylan Spencer, and Jamel Johnson and wondered why we look like a bunch of JAGs on defense in 2025. This staff identified Sydir Mitchell as a rising star in New Jersey and beat Georgia head-to-head for him. This staff closed Anthony Hill. This staff went into the Bayou and poached Derek Williams. I love it. I do wish we had added one more safety with established coverage skills, but hey, that's what the portal is for.21 points

A man in love. Soulful eyes and a haircut. Even a shirt with a collar. He's got a friend who is a Heisman winner and about to be national celebrity. Billy loves the rocket that will carry him to renoun and such pleasures. But...the dream crashed into a smoldering heap of drugs, incompetence, and unreturned calls. The broken man hiding behind Jackie-O sunglasses. He's a hollow shell of the half-full husk he was in those glorious days with-- No! Don't say the name! You don't want to see a grown man who lives with his mother cry. We can assume the eyes are soulless now. The greasy hair unkempt and likely smelly beneath the ever-present cap. The collared shirts returned to his college roomate. You hate to see it, but more than that....19 points

Please do enlighten as to how Beard "has never presented himself as an upstanding member of society" What the fuck is that even supposed to mean other than some bullshit you're spewing to make you fell better about your pre-judgment of the man. Edit to add: If you've always thought Beard was a "piece of shit" (your words) but were okay with that as being worth it for a good coach, that actually makes you the piece of unprincipled shit. Again, you have absolutely no idea what Beard did or did not say to the police. You have no idea what "facts" in the affidavit are true or not. You have absolutely no idea what mitigating factors exist and whether or not they "change the fact" Beard "hits women" Again, more made up bullshit to justify your biases. Please share one, single instance of another time Beard has ever, or even been accused, of hitting a woman. Calling him a person who "hits women" is a calculated attempt to overwhelm the discussion with provocative language because your opinion is not based on facts. Like fucking clockwork with you making up a scenario to buttress your bullshit. Massaging reality and cutting a deal works in EVERY SINGLE JURISDICTION IN THE WORLD. Maybe your expectations are like your opinions, the thoughts of an woefully ignorant person who doesn't understand, or appreciate, how "justice" works. And I hate to break it to you, Pollyasshole, but the University (show the fucking respect you pretend to have and capitalize) regularly massages reality and cuts deals. Do you live in a hole? I think I've done a fairly decent job in illustrating through your imaginary bullshit narrative that YOU have no interest in justice. The trial and conviction have already taken place in your Simple Jack mind. You're just standing here with a tar bucket and satchel of feathers and dare accuse others of not waiting on the system. And, again, you jump to a conclusion that @CTC2 wants to "make certain" Beard gets off scot-free (if you're gonna preen, at least learn to do it correctly) with no consequences. Just another bullshit opinion rooted in nothingness and with zero interest in reality or the facts. You may not have lost your mind, because you have to have one of them in the first place, but every post you make is just one more example as to how YOU are incapable of handling this situation with maturity and patience in the interest of "justice". Tell me again how it's the rest of us that are acting ridiculous. This entire post is aggy level projection and speculation. Not a single iota of factuality. Your opinions are bigger pieces of shit than you imagine Beard to be. Yes, imagine. Your opinion of a man you've never met is based off a PC affidavit that you even begrudgingly admit is not the whole truth. You're so close to figuring out your wrongness, but you just can't seem to get there. Beard may be a piece of shit. I don't know. You don't know. But I do know you're not even close to being the voice of reason. You're the voice of biased, pre-conceived bullshit who thinks Beard should be "nailed to the wall", again revealing your complete lack of interest in the actual facts.18 points

I suppose this gets me into the club? Baby girl, born 12/21/22 at 6:25 am, 7 lb 0 oz. We were in the hospital for 34 hours waiting. Wife was having steady contractions that entire time but luckily not too painful and she was her usual upbeat happy self. Had some issues towards the end that looked like we might be headed towards a C-section, things improved at the right time and proceeded with vaginal delivery, but man that part got rough. The doctor let me help deliver and catch her coming out, what an incredible experience. Wife had complications immediately after but they stabilized her and she is doing better. Still having a lot of pain 2 days later, but gradually improving and the acute concerns are behind us. Baby is doing awesome. She is completely healthy, all checkups have been great, going home today. The doctors, nurses, and hospital staff have been amazing. Iβm a doctor and these people inspire me to be better at my own job. The L&D nurses in particular are saints. We got married young, now married 17 years, neither of us ever had the parenting itch until about 2 years ago when that switch flipped for both of us. What a whirlwind this has been but I wouldnβt trade it for anything. Life is great today.17 points

This is not a personal attack, because people say stuff like this all the time, but thatβs, uh, quite the caveat. βIβve never relied on parents or in laws for a dime, except for that one time they gave us thousands of dollars for the most significant financial investment of our lives, with zero interest, zero collateral, and zero recourse.β Like I said, not a personal attack. People do it all the time. I donβt begrudge you for it and Iβd gladly give my hypothetical kids down payment money in the future if I was able. But in a thread that was started over shock that parents cover adult childrenβs phone bills or streaming services, itβs worth pointing out that millennials/gen z hear this sort of thing from older generations and just sort of laugh.13 points

The only thing I've disliked during this entire process is the criticism CDC has received. No matter what side you stand on, it's perfectly fine for CDC to collect the facts and reach a decision at a later date. Those calling for CDC to fire Beard immediately are morons. I don't know if you call this cancel culture (or whatever) but it's par for the course.11 points

I have been away from the college football message board part of the internet for a little while, trying to get my company's 2022 books somewhat closed. I tried to tune into the NSD stuff as I could but I completely missed this. So, I want to see if this is correct without needing to read through pages and pages of this thread and others. aggy decided to go ahead with an 'all out OC search' for a candidate who not only would be innovative and more in touch with the generational nuances of the modern college football offenses, but also a coach who would pry this responsibility from Jimbo's short, somewhat stubby, yet oddly feminine 'cold dead fingers?" and, according to Bjork, that person was (and I want to be sure)....that person was, seriously, Bobby Petrino? For a guy who kinda gets the aggy mental sickness to a degree due to unfortunate marriage decisions and business partnerships in the past, this was a shock in and of itself, even for me. But it turns out that Bobby fucking Petrino even told them to pound sand? Oh, that's......that's fucking glorious, that's what that is. Reading the screenshots of Luicci bragging about not only "calling his shot on Petrino", and "would have been right except for ____" along with the antecedent "but I am still dead ass on with the other two guys I've mentioned who I also won't name until afterwards" ......while the trained seals bark and clap and he keeps clipping their debit cards for another $whateverhe'schargingnow/month. What a great time to dig back into these boards. thanks to all who provide this type of entertainment in the screen grabs and links. It is very appreciated by more of us than you know11 points

But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? @Not that Bob I agree. Seeing kids at City of Hope smiling despite what they are going through is a beautiful and depressing experience. Bless them all. Got sprung. Responded well to the antibiotics, had a drainage tube inserted into my chest cavity to drain fluid. Cough is still brutal and painful with every cough where the tube was inserted. Had a bad feeling about the last CT scans. Dunno why. Just doom. Got to see the doctor today. "Hey, your scans are great!" and we talked about getting off Keytruda in February to see if the remaining lesion was stable, as she has suspected it is. I was like "So this is GOOD news." She: "it's top ten percent as far as possible results go." So I go about my day, happy. Somewhere down the hall, somebody else might have gotten the bottom 10% of possible results. I'm still happy, just all deep-like. Accept what you're given.10 points
