1) Can someone change the motherfucking title and fix @BurntOrange&White's fuckheaded stupidity, please? @immamac Nobody wants to look at that ineptitude all offseason. 2) Some buddies were there today and walked away raving. These are not the raving type and they're opinions are ... respected in this regard. One of them talked to me about the offense in ways that made me feel uncomfortable. 3) @Vertigo's list of weight disappointments is clownish.14 points

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I suggest you try it.14 points

Thank you. And as usual, mr fuck has good insight. And they definitely donβt care if you miss things here and there. What they do care about though imo is are you delivering the song with confidence. If you are fumbling around and letting the song sing you instead of you singing the song they will pick up on it. And it will not be good for the vibe. I was in exactly your same boat. For decades. Always played. Always wanted to play live. Never had the confidence. Never had the right situation blah blah blah whatever. And it always bugged me. Gnawed at me. Never really went away. I would see people playing all the time, some who were very good and would blow me away. But many who honestly were just meh, but getting paid and playing, and Iβd think man I think I could at least be that good. So about 5-6 years ago I set a goal to try to get paid to make music. Long tall mountain to climb. But who gives a fuck. The climb is fun. If I make it I make it. If not, weβll at least I tried. But every day I tried to take a few steps up the hill. My rationale with trying to get paid is that no one will tell you the truth if you suck. But if they pay you, and even better invite you back, well then thereβs your answer. It was a commitment. And has taken a ton of work. And priorities. It was a catalyst in my divorce. (Not to digress, but not saying it was the cause, but just shed light on an already problematic situation. What good is a supposed life partner who canβt support someone chasing a lifelong dream? Happy to have this longer discussion elsewhere if anyone is interested). I couldnβt sing for shit. Found a really good and cool voice coach. Spent a bunch of time with her. She was as much of a performance coach as just a voice coach. But she was amazing at both. Berklee degree, legit bonafides. Sheβs the one that really helped me understand the confidence concept. Her line was, if you havenβt practiced a song so much you are completely sick of it, you arenβt ready to perform it. It will sing you and people will pick up on it. So practice. A lot. The first day I went in for a lesson, I had stalled all I could stall and finally had to sing. She stopped me about half way through and said yea, no, that really just isnβt working at all. Holy fuck that was horrifying. But she was great about it and we kept going. She was like my goal is to get you playing out if that what you want to do. I said fine but you have to tell me the truth, because no one else will. If you wonβt tell me it sucks if it sucks, then I can never believe you when you say itβs good and Iβm ready. That was our deal. I still wasnβt sure I believed her. I did this for about six months. Then ventured to some open mics. Didnβt tell anyone where or when. Also holy fucking shit. Thatβs eye opening. But I did it. And the dudes there were great. Totally welcoming and understanding. Did a dozen or so of those but they get old pretty quick. Lots of waiting around for 2/3/4 tunes. No warm up, no time to get into a groove, pa always sucks etc etc. But they serve their purpose - they will get you over your stage fright. If you bust through that wall just once, when you are done it will feel pretty damn cool after. The lady singer was part of our larger band. After an offhand comment one time we ended up doing so couple tunes at a couple open mics. After trying for a year to get the other guitarist to do it with me. (Heβs really really good, but acoustic shit is for fags, Def Leppard man!). Anyway, we just sort of liked doing it and it grew from there. It definitely helps to play with someone who can sing like that. May will be our 3 year anniversary of getting paid to make music. Weβve probably done 200 paid gigs. Have about 250 songs we can do. Weβve done clubs, bars, private parties, corporate gigs, charity events, etc etc. We get invited back all the time from places we play. Weβre booked as much as we want to play. Probably made close to $50k so far. But beyond the money itβs far and away the most fun Iβve had in a long time. Probably ever. The point of this long story is that I am nothing special. Iβm a hack guitar player and an even worse hack singer. But I found someone to help me, and just worked at it. I firmly believe that anyone who can play even a little can do at least what Iβve done if they want to. And probably be much better. The mountain is climbable for anyone who wants to get up there. /end of sermon12 points

Sounds like we agree your initial idea makes for a good book but wouldn't do anything to actually solve the problems. Obviously if our demand for drugs remain sky high, there's always going to be someone willing to supply them. We can't kill our way out of that fact. As for what might help some, it seems like if kids growing up in Mexico see a path to a decent life that doesn't involve murder and kidnappings, they might be more inclined to take that path. Maybe US businesses decide to bring some of their manufacturing closer to home and that could provide a better opportunity for financial security for Mexicans?12 points

Friend of mine (State Dept) did a tour in Matamoros. There were only three restaurants in the entire city where US personnel were allowed to eat. He got hazard pay. The town ain't safe, and hasn't been for a while. That said.....would like to hear more about 4 Americans in Matamoros in a white van....doubt this was random. Man....the War on Drugs has seriously fucked some shit up.11 points

This happened to a family member of mine back in the 1990βs. He and his buddies had graduated from high school up in east texas, and over the summer, they decided to take a road trip because they could buy beer and party down there. Now you didnβt need a passport to cross the border in those days, remember, and it was quite common to see cars full of high schoolers headed down Matamoros way to get drunk and do things that teenagers do when they drink. So they loaded up my cousinβs Jeep Cherokee and headed south for a long weekend. He was headed off to college the next weekβCentenary in Shreveportβso this was kind of their last hurrah. My aunt spoke to them last right before they crossed the border. They were grabbing some bottles of Clearly Canadian and gas before getting into the long line at the crossing. They assume the boys crossed the border fine, as the Mexican border guards had a record of my cousinβs Jeep being searched at the border. After that, things get disjointed. Witnesses placed all four of them at a donkey show around 7 pm. My cousin got up to ostensibly go to the baΓ±o, and told the boys heβd catch up to them down the street at a discotheque close to where they parked the hero. Thereβs no record of their whereabouts for the next two hours, but at 9:50 a bouncer at the discotheque reported seeing a man matching my cousinβs description acting extremely paranoid, darting from streetlight to streetlight, and making a great effort to stay out of dark corners. The bouncer said he was acting completely irrational, shedding his clothes, like he was having some sort of out of body experience. His friends, assuming he was sleeping it off in the Jeep, didnβt pay much attention at first. After a couple of hours, though, they decided to go look for Mark. When they got outside, they saw police lightsβand a viscous green liquid seeping out of the driverβs open door. In the seat were the remnants of a large cocoon-like sac. When they approached the police, the officer was holding my cousinβs Centenary College hat. It was covered in the same green goo from the car. The policia asked Markβs friends if they recognized the hatβof course they did, they insisted, he had gotten it just weeks before at orientation and he hadnβt been without it. The policia finally closed the case a few years ago after getting the lab results on the green substance. They werenβt sure where he went, but my cousin *wasnβt dead.* We couldnβt believe it. How could that be? The police werenβt sure. All they knewβall that science could tell themβwas that he had *Matamorphosized.*9 points

In the βstupid shitβ column of my lifeβ¦ Back in 03, when I was still a phone rep, the guy in the next cubical over and I were sorta buddiesβ¦his βuncleβ was the mayor of Matamoros and asked him to bring him a car heβd purchased in SA. This dude asked me and a large black man named GB to come along. We said fuck it, why not. Turns out the car was a demo/whatever Jeep from a dealership and had a wrap in the form of a giant American flag for July 4th. So this tiny Hispanic dude, large black dude and my 6β white ass drove that damn thing across the border into Matamoros. It was gaudy even for South Texas. Between traffic and random stares, it took us forever to deliver it after which the mayor loaned us his black Suburban to tour the town for the dayβ¦suddenly traffic was parting like for Moses. The mayor showed us around his villa and it was the first time Iβd seen an AK-47, hanging against the wall just inside the door. Turned out fine but in hindsight I shoulda told Manny to fuck off.9 points
