Were the Western Flyers yellow?  I seem to recall my parents by yellow bikes from an auto parts store for my brothers and me.

Mine was gold, his was red. Mine had a twist-grip 3-speed which was kinda cool. Our grade school was 2 1/2 miles away but we rode bikes everyday that the weather was fit. Used to take our .22s and ride south of Wichita to plink in the Big Ditch around town. Moms today would scream bloody murder to see that roll through the neighborhood today.

Nobody in our neighborhood could afford a Schwinn. Brother and I had Western Flyers from Western Auto.

  3. Moose was a steal for a year and I'm really surprised that nobody offered him more than the Royals did for just a year. Maybe they did and he just wanted to stay in his own house while it all gets sorted out, I don't know. All I know for sure is that our farm system doesn't have very many pieces that other teams covet. I also know that GDDM and Lonnie Goldberg don't have a very good record with draft picks .We're likely screwed either way.

  4. Good work, @hullabelew. Don't you have a Sam Baker thread to start?

Already one huge injury note. Royals catcher Salvador Perz out 4-6 weeks with torn ACL. Huge hit for a team that figures to struggle already.

I hate it for Salvy but maybe this will help with the losing. Royals are going to suck anyway but gotdam Dayton Moore trying to limit the losing by bringing in veterans (Jay, Duda, Escobar, Moose et al) instead of finding out if any of our minor leaguers have anything to offer. Silly way to do a rebuild if you ask me. I'm heading to Kaufman in just a little bit.

What is the etiquette regarding assholes playing music on their golf cart boom box on the course? Do I use a 7 iron to smash their skulls before or after I smash their radio?

It was Tejano music if that makes a difference.

And yes it was from the radio, so I got to hear the Spanish DJ gibberish in between songs as well.

This is becoming a huge problem around here. I don't think you are required to use a specific club, whatever feels right will work. Just don't bend the shaft.

Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully the grass is green and thick. Intensive grazing and rotating is a great way to use resources and good land management.

I'm in Chase county, Kansas, in the heart of the Flint Hills. If we don't get some rain soon it will be one of the worst grazing seasons in a long time. It's been so dry that most of the pastures are not burned yet. I think it has been better north of I-70

  8. Our club plays a Ryder Cup style match with the next town over. Several years ago I beat their runner-up club champion 7 & 6 in the Sunday singles match. I was only -1 when it ended but that was the most satisfying round I ever played.

So now that I have tried weller 12, I like it as much as Blantons or maybe better , plus the price 1/3 the cost . Thoughts?

Weller 12 is great. I have a bottle of van Winkle lot b and I can't tell the difference.

  10. My home course is a 9-holer with a course rating of 69.3 and a slope of 126. 6200 yds. Pretty tame stuff. I have been under par 3-4 times with 69 being the lowest. My lowest 9 was a 32. My lowest round on a real golf course has been 74 several times, including Plum Creek in Kyle.
