  1. I watched the last couple hours of practice on Youtube and it  looked like they were handling rather well in traffic. It made me miss being there over Memorial weekend. I'm going to have to look into tickets for this year.

  2. I'm not a fan of the fenders but Indycar has done a good thing by removing the air intake behind the drivers head. These cars look much better than the last few years.

I'm hoping Helio can get #4 this year and ride off into the sunset. Keep the post coming BGS.

I'm having good luck using https://imgbb.com/

I registered with imgbb but i haven't had any luck getting any of my pictures to embed to Surly posts. Would you be so kind as to walk me through the steps. You can talk to me like I'm a child because I seem to be when it comes to this. Fuck photobucket in the ass for making me learn something new.

  4. The Cajun Wharf, down by the river, is pretty good. They have live music in the evenings and some of the local ladies were pleasing to look at when I was there last summer. YMMV.

Shit I literally grew up eating as a poors:

    - potted meat

    - Vienna snausages

    - box vermicelli

    - peanut butter, jelly and American cheese sandwiches (if you’ve never put cheese on a PB&J, do it now - thank me later)

    - bologna or Taylor pork roll and mayo sandwiches

    - sardines (mustard ftmfw bitches)

    - Braunschweiger

    - canned tuna and mustard

You described my childhood. Never have done the pbj and cheese but  a strawberry preserves and cheese sandwich is a favorite when the sweet tooth hits. I also like any jelly, jam or preserve stirred into cottage cheese. Good late night snack. I'm gonna do the pbj&c for lunch tomorrow. I'm intrigued.

Loved that as a kid and still do as an old fart.

Yeah, that's the stuff. They bought it unsliced from the little market in town. I was in HS before I ever had lunch meat from Oscar Meyer  et al. Mom would make braunschweiger and that made pretty good sandwiches. The folks were MiracleWhip people so that's what we used. I like to use brown mustard  with it now.

When I was a kid my mom would mix peanut butter and honey, and then we'd spread it on crackers or bread.

Honey is good but I prefer Karo syrup. I still do this for dessert once in awhile. Let the Karo sit and soak into the bread slice for a few minutes before you spread the PB.

I know you have lots of Germans and Mennonites down your way too so I'm sure you are familiar with the rectangular liver loaf that is covered with a layer of fat. I always peeled the fat off of a slice before eating it but my folks ate it as is. Depression era kids. It wasn't wheat harvest without a basket of those sandwiches on the tailgate of a pickup.

  8. Pink Floyd. Arrowhead Stadium, KC. 1994. We were seated below the pressbox and a commotion from above us caused everyone to turn and look above us. There was a large black guy the size and shape of Derrick Thomas dog-stylin a blonde. He waved to us and carried on with his business. Great show and the weed cloud was unlike any I had ever seen. A guy in front of us was wearing a "Hemp for Freedom" tee shirt and handing out joints like a pez dispenser.

  9. Watching the odometer on my daily driver make palindromes like 192291 or repeating combos like 192192. I sometimes pull over and admire it for awhile. Maybe take a picture. Makes me smile.

I get ragey when I have been looking forward to an upcoming event and get distracted by something on the radio or actual driving duties and miss it. 192291 will be on the way home today.

  10. I'm not sure where to put this but this seems as appropriate as anywhere. Margaret Perry, the Executive Director and founder of the Armstrong Community Music School, passed away last week. Her impact on music in the Austin area is as legit as it gets. My daughter was fortunate to find her way to the school  staff and have Margaret become her mentor. I'm sure a number of you have crossed paths with Margaret over the years. She will be missed. There will be a memorial concert tentatively scheduled for May 25.

  11. My son was born in 1976, back when hospitals were sticklers for visitation rules. My FIL was battling multiple myeloma at the time and wanted to see his youngest daughter's firstborn. We managed to sneak our son past the front desk and catch the FiL on an elevator as they were transferring him from a regular room to hospice. I took a picture of the three of them together.  Less than a week later her Dad was gone. I see the picture, hanging in our hallway, just about everyday and I'm somewhat numb to it but every once in awhile It takes me by surprise and it gets dusty in here.

  12. When was the last time that Patrick Reed ran? Can't say that I blame him. That could have turned into a 30 footer.

    Well, he made bogey anyway.

    A quick question:

What are alumni and fans of Butler, Xavier, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. Johns, and Seton Hall not doing this week?

A: Puffing their chests out and bragging about how a member of their conference won its second national title in a men's major sport in the last three years. Why not? Because none of those schools are worthless redneck institutions.

No one, other than the idiot, redneck, dumbfuck school of the S!E!C! celebrates when a school that kicked their ass all season wins a national championship.

"Conference pride" is right up there with "fake championship pride."  It might mean a lot when you have nothing else to take pride in, but outside of Redneck Station, Texas, no fan base or alumni base revels in "conference pride."

Since 2000, Texas has won more NCAA national championships (14) than TAMU has in the history of their school (13). PLUS, Texas has a football championship and a final four appearance. Not once has any Tech fan, or Iowa State fan, or any other conference member fan celebrated a single UT national championship. Nor should they.

It's apparent that you don't know any Creighton fans. Carry on.
