Most people wanted White Boy Reese dropped from his recruiting class because of his drug arrest. Kid came here and didn't do shit on the football team but he did get into med school. Who knows where he ends up had he gotten processed. All I'm saying his give these kids a bit of grace. And yeah sure some of them will squander the opportunity but I bet in most of that cases there is a larger conversation to be had.

Probably med school.  It's not like his parents were hurting for tuition money.

I live in a decent size town, but there are only 3-4 pool builders. I’ve had 2 at my house and can’t get a quote. I’ve heard not so good things about both so no loss. I’ve called a third builder four times and can’t get them to call me back. The fourth is out of town and has 88 pools already on the schedule. The designer took me to a pool in my neighborhood that they built when he was there last week. It was damn impressive and probably a 300k+ project.

I would rather wait on someone who I can get to come out and be honest with me on where they are at schedule wise than one who won’t even send me a quote. It’s pretty damn frustrating to want to spend that much money and have someone who won’t do what they say they are going to do.

Where?  I may be able to get you recommendation.

Salt is just fine if you manage your PH, which is naturally higher in salt pools due to aeration in the process of turning salt to chlorine gas.  The level of salt is about 3000-3200 PPM.  Less than half the salinity PPM as a human teardrop.  For comparison the ocean is about 35,000 PPM.

There is not a lot of ongoing maintenance costs associated with salt pools, which I venture to guess may have something to do with builders pushing other options.

The reason builders went away from salt were the issues with degrading stone around the pool, especially flagstone.  And yes not all flagstone had severe issues but it was enough that builders stopped using at the rate they used to.

As sales of salt systems dropped UV/Ozone increased.   Why?  Because they wanted to sell more product.  Distribution was a big player in moving the market as well.

Ok, so it looks like we are moving forward with getting a design done. The builder is scheduling 14 months out, so it would be next November time frame before they could actually start. That sucks, but at least it proves they are busy unlike some of the locals here who could get started next week. Here is what he has in the list for the project, is there anything we’re fucking up on?

    Robot cleaning system
    LED lighting
    Flagstone/tile coping
    3’6” to 6’ total depth
Pebble sheen interior for pool and spa
    UV & Ozone sanitation system
    AquaLink System
    Tanning ledge

Anything we should add or change?
    Thanks.

When you say robot cleaning system I assume you mean like a Maytronics Dolphin.  If so that’s good.  You don’t want something that runs on a booster pump.

Trade UV and Ozone system for a salt water generator.  Best decision you can make.

Don't do salt.  Especially with flagstone.   There's a reason new pools with salt systems went from 95% to less than 5% in about 5 years.

UV/Ozone... not huge fan, but better than salt.  You probably wont miss them when they break

Fuck, during the game my wife told me that the pool wasn't working. I went outside to check it out and the pool filter was left open. I had the pool company come out to clean it last week. I went through my emails and there was an invoice that stated that broken filter parts were left in the filter and it needs a new ring clamp around the unit. The only problem is that it was the same company that cleaned the filter the last time that it was opened. But, before I fight with them on Monday are any pool stores open on Sunday? I just spent about $200 in chemicals getting the system working right after another issue that the pool company couldn't fix (so I fixed it) and don't want to wait for the pool to get algae again. I'll have to figure out what they broke exactly, but I am hoping it is just the clamp for a Pentair Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge Filter 520.

Leslie's should be open.  Should have decent shot at a band clamp it that's the issue.

I can't think of anything better than national talking heads saying we'll lose to or barely scrape by Louisiana.

Consider that these are the same guys who ranked Texas #5 to start the 2010 season. They always look backward instead of forward.

All of our games were maddening close under Tom Herman. If he were here, predicting a close game would make sense. Less talented teams beat us sometimes because they could stay close. All that is gone.

All gas no brakes is a genuine philosophy here. Can we deliver? I think we score more than we did last year.

Louisiana? I only know that generally they're good, well-coached, and likely a little over-rated. Their games were also close last year other than stomping ISU. I'm sure they're up and confident.

With the national talking heads doubting us based on the past (not entirely unreasonable), a 21-point victory over Louisiana will look better than it actually is. We'd rise dramatically in the rankings. They like seeing us up there.

I don't think Louisiana has the horses to go toe to toe the whole game with us. If we enter the fourth quarter with a two score lead, Sark isn't going to start running out the clock. He's going to keep his foot on the gas.

Add to the equation that Sark wants both his QBs to get work. He will not continue the irritating Texas tradition of putting in the second string and running dives every play.

I think we crush Louisiana. I think it will be good win over a pretty damn good team that can't match our depth.

We'll know more about the Longhorns after Fayatenam.

    Hook 'Em!

We're going to skull fuck the swamp rats.  Fucking Herman is gone.  We're not going to win a gentleman's game.  They're going home gaped.

Both will play due to injuries and lead Texas to a B12 title and NY6 Bowl, just missing the CFP. Both will then come back the next year with unfinished business, and finish business as Texas makes their first appearance in the CFP in their first year in the SEC. Arch Manning then picks Texas and brings home a title and the Longhorn Quarterback Whisperer legend of Steve Sarkisian is born. A line of NFL Hall of Fame Longhorn Quarterbacks commences over the subsequent decades. All Gas No Brakes.

We're gonna blow some people out and Casey will get lots of reps in Q3 and 4.

There week be no up by 21 at half and win by 7 games.

    FUCK YOU TURTLE TOM

What's interesting about this case is that it brings into question the breadth of power that can be validly exercised by the Director of the CDC.

Setting aside for the moment whether an eviction moratorium is a good or necessary idea in these circumstances -- I think it is -- the question remains does the Director of the CDC have the power to do it.

The arguments pro and con are amazingly similar to what's going to go on with Abbott's power to override local officials in disaster responses, except there isn't the aspect of competing officials with similarly broad powers.

I have read Judge Friedrich's (yes, Trump appointee) opinion, which lines up with a few other district court opinions that the statute cannot be interpreted to grant this broad power.  And it's pretty hard to disagree with the analysis, which has nothing to do with the merits of the moratorium, but rather whether the Director of the CDC is the "right person" to issue such a moratorium.

In this last go round at SCOTUS, the "liberal wing" didn't really take issue with the legal analysis, but rather wanted to de facto extend the moratorium by refusing to rule on an interim or temporary basis.  I suppose reasonable minds can differ on the need for urgent action, and that is where the conservative/liberal split manifests here.

If this were to go to full argument on the merits, which I don't believe it will, it would be interesting to see how or if the liberal wing analyzes the statute differently.

    Appreciate the thoughts.

I'd ask questions but can't afford your hourly rate and now there certainly won't be a moratorium on that front.

I'll have a very difficult time intellectually keeping up with the same old right wing strategies of the past. Don't be too hard on me, please.

How long until we hear that Biden is the most divisive/illegitimate/senile president in history? Nobody's seen this kind of incompetence before! Y'all were all just standing around whistling Dixie and rocking back and forth on your heels with your hands in your pocket when every media outlet came up to you with tears in their eyes lamenting the failure of the Biden presidency!

I'll probably have trouble not crying when exposed to that sort of blistering attack.

I'm really disappointed that my pictures of zombies and idiots won't change things. I had high hopes. But one shouldn't expect high-powered intellectuals to appreciate metaphor. Or irony. You're too busy being smug for absolutely no discernable reason.

Lastly, Trump is relevant to this discussion as he, up until about a week ago, advocated and even set a policy for us to get out of Afghanistan in a big fucking hurry. His supporters coming around howling about Biden also makes a comparative discussion relevant.

I suppose everything that happens with Covid including anti-vaxxer/maskers is Biden's fault, too.

Maybe you guys should have a big, crowded indoor rally packed with supporters to show your disdain for poor, dumb, senile, divisive Biden. You're just about guaranteed to make America better as a result.

Enjoy your bunny rabbit dinner as the disaster in Afghanistan unfolds under Biden's administration. Hooray!

Wtf was I being smug about.  I wander in and out of cr on occasion and rarely actually post.  Y'all just fucking make shit up, post stupid pictures, lack any honesty of the shitshow that's going on and treat anybody who posts something counter as less than human.  Cheers.
