Thread breaks my heart.   First you and your wife need a support group for youselves.  You're going to have to be strong and supportive for your child so you need help as well.  My wife and daughter both volunteer at a place called SoléAna Stables in Alvin.  I wouldn't presume that this is the right place for your child but look for something like this in your area.

There are some great organizations.   Call around and explain what you're facing.  I know the parents at SoléAna appreciate a little "time off" as well.  I'm so proud of what my wife a 16 year old are able to contribute and my business contributes to them financially.

There are many many people willing and wanting to help.  God Bless and Hook 'em.

Ugh.  My wife is not 16 you assholes and no pic's you morons!

Hey does anyone here get good deals on Pentair Intelliflo pumps here in Austin? I need one ASAP. Mine died in the storm last week.

I don't remember a whole lot of pentair part numbers but they look to be in very limited supply.  Checked the 011056 and 011060 and 022056 from largest supplier and they're pretty much out in the state.  Depending on what you're replacing you may have to find alternate.

Anyone have a link for some inexpensive UL2017 certified window alarms?  I need 6 for final inspection.

Yard guard makes some but check with municipality if you can put window locks in instead.  Would need to be version that would require a tool to uninstall.   But worth a call.

Robots are way to go IMO, much better job cleaning and ease of use. I had an AquaVac 650 and in broke down twice in 2 years - 1st bad drive motor, 2nd bad board. Both times only warranty service repair was available and at least a month wait (time I was also without a robot... during leaf drop season... yeah)  Parts were also really hard to find, not only the broken parts, but even the wheel treads were really hard to track down, only found from one vendor at time I needed them. Cleaning the unit was very nice and super quick/easy and only good thing about it that I miss.

Having seen the reviews of Hayward robots and then owning one I wanted to steer clear of them and went with what most seemed to really prefer which was a Dolphin.

I replaced with Dolphin Premier and much happier and parts seem readily available should I need them (I looked before purchasing just to be sure)

Good info. Both guys are using Hayward products. Should I steer clear?

The sharkvac and tigershark from Hayward are fine.  Aquavac series not so much..  of course aquavac is what's in my pool and works perfectly.

My Kreepy Krauley pool robot motor finally bit the dust.  I'm in the market for an upgrade.  If you were to buy a new one right now, what would you guys recommend or stay away from?  The ones I've looked at thus far:

    Polaris 9550

    Dolphin Nautilus

If any one is looking for parts off a Kreepy Krauley (filter cartridge, caddy, power supply, impeller, etc), let me know.

Both are fine.  The KK robots haven't been around for that long.  Is it past warranty?  Typically 3 years.

My 12 year old pool is going South in numerous ways.  Pool heater has broken every year, and I think I will replace the whole thing.  Booster pump failed.  Chlorinator failed.  Main control system is messed up, but we're not sure if its the board or it lost it's programming.  Pebble finish failing.  Limestone deck failing in two places.  If I fix everything this could hit $20k.

Don't sell your future reno short.  It could hit 25!

  9. 3 nuns die and go to heaven

St. Peter tells them, "I am going to ask each one of you a question. If you get it right, I will let you in."

He asks the first one, "Who built the ark?"

"Easy, that was Noah." She replies.

Peter tells her that is correct and lets her in.

Peter asks the second one, "Who parted the Red Sea?"

    "Easy!" She replied. "Moses!"

"You're correct!" Said Peter, and he let her in.

Peter asks the third one, "What were Eve's first words to Adam?"

She thinks for a moment, then replies, "Man...That's a hard one!"

"You're right!" Says Peter...And he lets her in.

My pool builder told me while he welcomes referrals he didn’t want me to tell any of those parties how quickly my project moved, lest they have unreasonable expectations about their own build. He said for whatever reason we jumped 3 other projects he had going at the same time. Good fortune I guess.

County and no HOA?  Depending on municipality inspections can be a drag.  Not weeks worth, but a drag.

Got the initial quote and it seems pretty steep for this 15x35 3.4-6ft pool, 7x7 spa. Travertine deck.

I have a couple people coming next week to talk.

Assuming the pony wall around is necessary due to elevation of yard and they're going to face and top with travertine.  That's going to jump the price.  And if you haven't,  confirm if both sides of wall are getting the same treatment ie splitface or something similar.

When Roberts, who is no friend of voter rights protections, sides with the liberals, his assertion rings true. The Court’s majority went too far. I don’t know what can be done to thwart this kind of activism, other than to expand the Court:

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed Alabama to implement a redistricting plan that is being challenged as illegal racial gerrymandering. A lower court ruled last month that the state’s new congressional map likely violates the Voting Rights Act, and it ordered the state to draw a new map. But the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision put the lower court’s ruling on hold, effectively allowing Alabama to proceed with its preferred map as it prepares for primary elections in May.

Alabama created the redistricting plan after the 2020 census for the state’s seven seats in the House of Representatives. One of the seven districts in the plan is a majority-Black district. Registered voters, along with the Alabama chapter of the NAACP and Greater Birmingham Ministries, a multifaith community organization, went to federal court to challenge the map. They argued that the state had illegally packed many Black voters into a single district while dispersing other clusters of Black voters across multiple districts. The effect of the map, according to the challengers, is to minimize the number of districts in which Black voters can elect their chosen candidates.

On Jan. 24, a three-judge district court – made up of two district judges appointed by President Donald Trump and a court of appeals judge appointed by President Bill Clinton – ordered the state to draw a new map. The court agreed with the challengers that the plan likely violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which bans racial discrimination in voting policies. The court explained that the state’s legislature should have the first chance to draw a redistricting plan that includes two majority-Black districts, rather than just one, and it gave the state two weeks to do so. But if the legislature can’t get the job done in time, the court continued, it would hire an expert to draw a new and improved map.

Go back farther kid, re the use of the N word.  Think it was Bruce had some powerful stuff.  Maybe Carlin,  but think it was Bruce.  No fucking way it's findable anymore.

    Spoiler

Are there any niggers here tonight? Could you turn on the house lights, please, and could the waiters and waitresses just stop serving, just for a second? And turn off this spot. Now what did he say? "Are there any niggers here tonight?" I know there's one nigger, because I see him back there working. Let's see, there's two niggers. And between those two niggers sits a kike. And there's another kike— that's two kikes and three niggers. And there's a spic. Right? Hmm? There's another spic. Ooh, there's a wop; there's a polack; and, oh, a couple of greaseballs. And there's three lace-curtain Irish micks. And there's one, hip, thick, hunky, funky, boogie. Boogie boogie. Mm-hmm. I got three kikes here, do I hear five kikes? I got five kikes, do I hear six spics, I got six spics, do I hear seven niggers? I got seven niggers. Sold American. I pass with seven niggers, six spics, five micks, four kikes, three guineas, and one wop. Well, I was just trying to make a point, and that is that it's the suppression of the word that gives it the power, the violence, the viciousness. Dig: if President Kennedy would just go on television, and say, "I would like to introduce you to all the niggers in my cabinet," and if he'd just say "nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger" to every nigger he saw, "boogie boogie boogie boogie boogie," "nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger" 'til nigger didn't mean anything anymore, then you could never make some six-year-old black kid cry because somebody called him a nigger at school.

My bad.  From the movie about Bruce with Hoffman.

I will say this about white comedians. I mean, comedians in general HATE that they can’t say XYZ because it’s taboo. In fact, it makes them want to say it more. There are BIG names in the comedy world that would drop the N word in their acts either to illustrate some point about language, in a funny way, but deep down you know they were doing it because they think it’s absurd they can’t use a word. And not a long time ago either. I remember Louis CK used to do it for sure.

Also, what is a normal size? I think we said 12x30. Is that ok? Should we go bigger (wider)?
We are making a list of what we like and don’t from the first render.

    12 is awful narrow unless it's a space/easement constraint.

80' perimeter is common.  If you can go bigger.  That's what she said
