If anyone has any suggestions on how to establish a multi-party system in the United States of America, I'm all ears.

I think the SEC is going to force feed the Texas game down Aggy's throat. Even Bjork has conceded that it's happening.
Aggy going to swallow hard - as is their turdition - and resume the game. EspnU calling their demand for first home game the ultimate little brother move.
It's also probably why they emptied the wallet for this year's class.

Hayward Omnilogic board going to need to be replaced (less than 2yr old)....pretty sure just a bad relay but it's under warranty so let them mess with it... Only affecting salt cell right now so can at least self chlorinate until replaced
3 yr warranty. Assuming boards available quick easy fix.

Yard is marked. Hoping it’s in the right spot. Not sure how that works if we want to move it a little.Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Supposed to steak out the pool today. Weather just went sideways so it might not happen. Starting a month later than planned (mostly my fault) so ready to get rolling.
Pool builders appreciate steaks.

I guess I look foolish for expecting someone to show up when they say they will and then nothing. This project started April 2021. Over a year. I’m frustrated. I’ve been involved in 4 home remodels and 3 office finish outs so I’m familiar with the time frames, but a year is past what I’ve put up with before.
I appreciate your input.
Man, my apologies. Didnt realize project timeline was so egregious. Unfortunately no builder is going to step in at this point and if they do you're going to pay a hefty premium. And I'm assuming you still have deck to pour?

Please recommend a builder in Austin who will finish a pool that’s 90% done. I haven’t seen my builder in 10 days and I always get the “tomorrow “ answer. I’ve paid every invoice, even a bit over but for reasons unknown I’ve been abandoned. Several jets that have been plumbed but not installed. 5 laminars plumbed but not installed. Zero edge drip basin installed but not painted. I can’t stand anymore “tomorrow “ answers. I look foolish. This has been a pattern and I need to get the picture. It’s not going to get better.
Be patient. Read this thread back multiple pages. To whom do you look foolish? Nobody but fatty is getting their pool done quickly. Sounds like your builder should be more communicative, but no builder is gonna do anything because you haven't had progress in ten days.

need some advice on a seiko spb171. i found a new one on chrono for a little under $1600 shipped. seems too good to be true but everything looks right to me. anyone have input?
They charge the dealers a premium. I hunted for my Rolex on there and found a dealer that had what I was looking for (and was based in US and was able to research beyond chrono24). It takes a bit of digging but I ended up buying direct.
On another note I've heard watch prices are dropping. Anybody seeing this? I've got a couple more in my sights.

Does no one want to share what they paid because they fear it will make them look like a sucker who overpaid?
Each and every market has its own "par" for any project. Florida and Arizona pools cost a fraction of Texas pools. Myriad of reasons.

What does that mean? My Pentair Hummer Platinum still works, but I spend $200+ in tires and bags. Hoes every five years too.
Are you saying the electric is the way to go? Please explain.
6 hours ago, LebongJames said:Can you explain more?
New cleaners are notorious for having issues. Not an expert on the polaris line - hence the "research". I am partial to the robotics but that's just me.
If i remember correctly the Hummer was built off the foundation of the polaris pressure line of cleaners by a company called letro that was bought out by pentair.
Pressure cleaners generally have a ton of wear parts that aren't cheap and a cash cow for the manufacturers.
Flip side are the robots, but once those shit the bed you're replacing, not fixing.

Our pool builder said we need the Polaris that actually has the built in vacuum and not just the old school one.

Research. If it's less than a couple years old.. avoid like the plague.

Great question. My pool guy doesn't do warranty stuff anymore. It was a replacement pump for a pump that failed under warranty and he said Pentair wouldn't warranty a replacement pump. So, basically we haven't even contacted Pentair. But, it seems like if I take it to a repair place to diagnose the problem, maybe they could contact Pentair.
In the meantime, with the way the industry is working right now I'm glad I just ordered a new pump right away without going through Pentair. Where should I take the old pump for diagnosis in Austin?
To see if you can get the old one fixed under warranty you'll need a local warranty station. If it's been less than 3 yrs since pool was started up pentair should fix/repair pump even if they've done before. If you can't find one PM me your zip code. I may be able to find one.

Hey, speaking of... My pool guy thinks that the pump failure was caused by flooding. It is possible but I'm not sure. In any case, I'll raise the pump 6" when it is reinstalled. But, can the old (1 season) Intelliflo pump be fixed? After I install the new pump, it would be great if the broken one could be repaired.
Yes it can bw fixed but probably more expensive than it's worth esp if the power pack failed.
But if it was 1 years old it should have been taken care of under warranty? Or did they say no because of possible flooding?

How often do pumps go out like that? Is it reasonable to just buy a second one to have on hand when you build a new pool?
Not very often. Delays in shipping/manufacturing are still part of horrific supply chain issues.

I've had many many people get in as soon as (and even before) pool was filled.
In many respects it's bath water.
If you do get in make sure to wear goggles. As the plaster cures there's going to be some extreme water conditions.

Are you talking about the initial pool fill of 30k gallons of water? Because I will definitely bypass for that.
I'm more concerned about the incremental fill as water evaporates out of the pool, and the auto-filler adds water throughout the life of the pool. Is that enough clean purified water to make a detrimental impact on the pool water health/quality?
Definitely bypass for initial fill. For the autofill it's a balancing act depeding on what your unsoftened water is. Putting softened water isn't a big deal. But if your source water (before softener) is high in copper, iron or even manganese that could cause issues a little more difficult to manage than calcium levels.
You'll get a good indicator when you fill.
Green water indicates copper.
Brown is iron
Purple is manganese. Which is rare but pretty amazing to see.

My builder says you need to brush the pool sides twice a day for 10 days after plaster is done, then another few days for the stuff to filter out and balance the chemicals before it's safe to swim. I understand that these guidelines vary from builder to builder. Anyone else have thoughts or experience with that?
Other topic: We have a whole house water filter that pulls out 100% of hardness/scale from the water. The filter vendor says filling the pool with regular water would be best, bypass the system for a couple days while we do that, then turn it back on and let the pool autofill using filtered water. Is there any issue with that? Filter guy says it means we won't have calcium fed into the pool, which prevents the white buildup on the sides. Internet says it will take more chemical to balance new water and cost more.
Bypass your softener. Your pool water needs the hardness

The set elevation for 3cm coping. Putting 5cm on there is going to mess that up. That's not a cheap or easy adjustment depending on build.
