  1. What’s admirable is to use the resources God gave you in the most expeditious manner possible.

You’re goddam right! Maybe I can start wearing my asbestos winter coat and snort some lines of talcum powder like my grandpa did! I hear that lead paint chips are quite tasty too. Maybe I’ll start putting those in Junior’s lunch this year.

  2. 67 at night here. I also have 4 fans. Including a bed fan that blows air under the sheets.

This is the dumbest thing that I’ve ever heard of. How in the hell are you supposed to Dutch Oven the wife with one of those? Get an Ooler.
  3. This is off topic but I didn’t start it.
It’s a reference to a post I made in the “Shit HEB Makes” thread where I mentioned that I’ve kept a document where I started taking notes on products that my usual grocery store, a Giant Eagle, would stop carrying. It was just out of curiosity. There were other products that I noticed had disappeared before I decided to start taking notes. Sometimes replaced by Giant Eagle branded generic products, sometimes with no apparent reason. And then some of the products would come back. Sometimes a few years later. So I started noting dates.
Grocering is a strange business. It’s a dirty business. The competition for shelf space and position is fierce. And there are varying levels of influence from corporations and distributors. Sometimes when they say you can buy, say, two jars of peanuts for $5, you can buy one for $2.50. But if they offer two cartons of Minute Maid orange juice for $5, you need to buy two cartons in order to get the discount. Some brands require you to buy the required number, others don’t. I haven’t taken notes on that because I’m pretty sure I have a feel for which companies have the power to enforce strict rules (like Coca-Cola).
I have a straw broom that I’ve had for years and could probably be replaced. I bought it at that Giant Eagle store. You can’t buy one there now. Now they have a large section of an aisle devoted to Swiffer products, none of which will help me sweep leaves or snow off the sidewalk. (Pro tip: A broom is much more effective in clearing a light snow than a shovel.)
To bring it back on topic, I also have notes I’ve taken on a variety of products including hot sauces. And it just seems strange to me that anyone who is a presumably educated person would give someone shit for taking notes on literally any topic. So mock away. I’m impervious.
And maybe start taking more notes on things in your life just out of curiosity.

Jeez, save some pussy for the rest of us.

  4. She has a cart.  That's too fancy.  It needs to be a cooler toted around in a shitty red wagon.

Also, back when the Skillets was the Kettle, they had an off-menu item (probably not sanctioned by Kettle HQ) -- menudo, and it was one of the best restaurant menudos I've ever had.  Don't think they do it anymore.  Because this world is going all to hell.

The cart belonged to the elotes lady. The lady that was selling the worst tamales that I’ve ever had in my life had a cooler and a chair. This was 2004 in front of Fuel City.
  5. I can't remember the beer joint on 6th street late 90s that opened up, but they would serve these beers like 40 oz for $4 on some nights. The bathroom was tiny and had maybe a toilet and a urinal. You'd walk in there and one person would be pissing in the toilet, one in the urinal, one in the sink, one in the trash can, and someone hitting the drain. Not one place itself is funny, but the totality of creative pissing at once was nuts.

Logan’s. I was there on a rally busy night. Maybe NYE. The line for the bathroom wasn’t moving at all. I took the last sip of my beer, whipped it out and filled the mug back up while standing at the bar. I set it on the bar and walked away.

  6. We have a dishwasher that works perfectly fine.  Cleans everything the first time.  Nothing wrong with it, wife has never complained.
About once a week, usually right after she gets done cooking or prepping something, she decides rather than to use it, she'll wash the dishes by hand in the sink.  Then she expects me to help dry.  I respond with "why not just use the dishwasher?".  But she wants it done NOW, not in an hour.  So either I dry the dishes that could just be machine washed and dried, or I get to be the asshole.

Is this a humblebrag? Your wife cooks and cleans up afterward and you’re complaining?
