Meerkat is Crispy, Donkey, Monkey, etc. We were told that he wouldn't be allowed to reappear yet again after he was bounced, but here we are.

I realized this in the HotD thread. After engaging in good faith for a few posts it dawned on me that only one poster could be that deliberately obtuse.

Also, isn't there supposed to be some bad-ass dragon wandering around in the wild or am I mistaken about that?

I don't think the show did a great job of explaining this. You're talking about vaghar, the current largest dragon. When Leana was 12 and walking with the king she talked about him being out in the wild. Fast forward a few years and she's riding vaghar. I don't remember exactly, but I think she told one of her kids that she went and found him. After she died Aemond took vaghar and is now riding him.

  3. Yes, murdering rhey was the key disagreement. The very first thing alicent says to aegon is don't listen to Otto about killing her. I'm not sure why you are thinking that was just a bump in the road, it's a fundamental difference in strategy.

  4. Both parties wanted aegon because whoever had him could control the plot going forward. Beyond that, it's tough to do a coup without the person you're claiming is the new king.

No one was looking to murder him.

The fuck makes you think it's all gone?

This week was the greens making their play when the king dies.  Next week the reds will react.

It's like playing cards with my brother's kids.

His entire post was him admitting that he's too stupid to follow the show. I, for one, believe him.

Maybe he's not lying.  Maybe somebody he knows told him "my wife is a teacher and they have a litterbox for furries at her school", just wondering if Rogan was stupid enough to believe it and put it on his show.

I definitely think it's this. It was probably one of the right wing media people he knows.

Kudos to everyone who recommended the Manti Te'o story.  It was worth the watch.  The wife and I have recently discovered the Untold "docuseries" on Netflix.  It is like the ESPN 30 for 30's, but not as involved/long.  So far, we've seen the Tim Donaghy NBA scandal, the Aussie's losing the America's Cup from Dennis Conner, and the one about the Danbury Trasher's hockey team.  The hockey team episode is a must see.  It is like Slapshot meets Animal House meets the Sopranos and has a kid.  That episode is named Untold, Crime and Penalties.  So far, I haven't been seen one I wouldn't recommend.

Malice at the Palace is very good

And we’re also supposed to believe Alicent hadn’t heard the story or about Viserys’s obsession with dreams and visions? There was war coming over succession no matter what, so the dying man game of telephone to explain her motivation seems dumb

He only told rhey about it and literally said it was only passed down from king to heir. No way alicent knew. She thought he was talking about his own dream where his son was born with a crown.

This has been the longest prologue ever. I guess we’ll find out if it’s been worth it once the show starts in earnest, but I doubt it.

If GoT had been set up like this, we would have had a first season just rushing through Robert/Lyanna/Rhaegar, the Ned/Cat and Jon/Lysa courtships, Littlefinger’s history with Cat/Lysa, Robert’s Rebellion, Jaime’s king slaying, the Robert/Cersei wedding, Ned taking in Jon Snow, and Jon Arryn’s poisoning.

Instead we started out in media res, spent some real time with people and let the story breathe, and just learned these things as needed as we went.

This is such a silly comparison, GOT was not about Robert's rebellion. You're essentially asking for Ned to be killed in episode 1.
