were there ever any in the first place?

Yeah, and we need to remember that we need both sides. Our country, our government works best when there is a competition of ideas with the best one winning. It sucks when one side is the only voice. I will never understand how staunch capitalists don't understand that a competition of ideas is what made America great and when you eliminate the other side, you eliminate the idea and promise of America. 🇺🇲

Goddamnit Steele. And I’m not quite sure why I thought an 0-1 Judson team coming off back to back losing seasons would give Westlake a game.

The PSJA North train keeps rolling as they beat a pretty solid Los Fresnos team 54-17. LF’s sophomore superman Robert Pineda couldn’t do much of anything outside of a 75 yard TD run.

  3. difference makers at DT are important but they are not required to get where we want to go. Find enough 3 and 4 stars who are big enough to hold the point of attack and let your LBs and DEs do the rest. A difference maker at DE and at CB is much more important to overall success. Dont get me wrong, i hope we get this guy and every other 5 star at DT. but they arent necessary to have a great defense like difference makers at DE and CB are. Competent big bodies that can stand up the other team's OL while the other guys make the play will do just fine. and if every now and then we get a great one, thats icing on the cake.

Let me help you and the board understand what is meant by folks referencing academics being important for this recruitment.

The mom was a multi-decade teacher in Lafayette. She's now in leadership for the teacher's union or association in those parts. Her kids have high academic requirements inside of their own household. The "academic" part of this is not just getting a degree, and it isn't something to be poo-poo'ed on this board.

What is getting all of you idiots spun up in the wrong direction is thinking that academics = Texas. There are some $9.95ers that have dealt with this recruitment who have also gotten twisted up in that logic.

The problem is, and I'm negging anyone who thinks we need to hear about or see the actual numbers on this, ATM isn't perceived to be a significant falloff from Texas. The gap is between ATM and OU and LSU. Ohio State is a serious contender because of academics and Johnson, but distance is a major problem. The reason the recruit isn't likely going to LSU is due to academics. The reason the player isn'tlikely going to OU is due to academics. So it's apparently Texas or ATM, and ATM happens to be in a town roughly the size of Lafayette (perceived to be, at least, and no one needs the fucking MSA numbers on this either).

So then ask yourself, when NIL hasn't played a role in a 5 star recruitment, how many of those has Texas won in the trenches in the last 15 years? Not many. Hence people not feeling really confident anywhere around this one.

but what about Stanford? have they offered? and does the family understand the never ending academic battle between Stanford and Texas?

It is so rare that academics really comes into play in recruiting battles.

According to QS Rankings on Computer Science (P5 schools):

    1. Stanford

    2. Cal

    3. Washington

    4. UCLA

    5. Illinois

    6. Texas

    7. Michigan

    8. Maryland

    9. Purdue

    10. Duke

    11. Wisconsin

    12. Penn State

    13. UNC

    14. Texas A&M

    15. MSU

    16. ASU

    17. Northwestern

    18. Rutgers

    19. Indiana

    20 Ohio State

Based on the final 3. I dont think academics is the key component in this recruitment or at least in the sense that many here understand academics to mean

i just dont get the love for Stanford. Comparing their academics to Texas's and Im just not seeing it. Ok, fine they are in cool NorCal but is that any better than the ATX? and i mean WTF is a cardinal? private school vs public? no comparison. at the end of the day, i think Texas just comes out ahead of Stanford in every measurable. i deem this question of which is better, Texas or Stanford, resolved once and for all. thank you.

If you want to see a boatrace watch what Steele is going to do to LT this weekend. Don’t be shocked if Judson gives a little scare to Westlake either.

its going to be a tough week for LT. i think half of the team is out with covid at this point.

  7. seriously, have you not been paying attention? of course it was sarcasm. and also of course thats how he starts everything - sarcastically testing the waters, talking about everything out in the open, no one believes anyone would be dumb enough to do that but then holy shit, it actually works for this guy to do it that way and then finally, i cant believe he did exactly what he told us he was going to do when he said it in that sarcastic tweet X number of months ago.

i mean people, and this guys even more so, tell you what they are thinking if you pay attention and believe them.

Them underperforming expectations somewhat and winning a small majority in the House two years after attempting a violent coup is hardly a rejection of the GOP. That's just wishful thinking.

it wasnt just underperforming expectations somewhat.... it was the worst fucking showing by a party in midterm election in the last 6 fucking decades. but yeah keep saying im the one engaging in wishful thinking. do i wish it was an even worse performance, of course i do. but we shouldnt mischaracterize how badly they performed and how much of their agenda was rejected by the american people.

This sort of shit is so funny. Everyone saw them try a coup when they lost and they retook the House two years later. The GOP will be fine.

it was the most underperforming mid-term in the last 60 years. it was not a successful election for them at all. it was all but a rejection of the GOP in its current form.

His voters? No, they don't. His supporters in DC? Yeah they see it and they support it. They're not interested in governing; they're interested in ruling.

i have had too many conversations with his supporters where they refuse to listen to logic and reason. by the end, they know. they apologize (not really) for supporting him, start playing the victim card, and then pull some form of whataboutism to justify supporting him. but they know that they are wrong. they know he is wrong. hell he alludes to it most of the time. its part of the game. he know he just has to give them an excuse to support his agenda. an agenda that his supporters believe helps them (it doesnt). the GOP stopped engaging in a competition of ideas 30 years ago. Clinton broke them. ever since, they have refused to change to reflect the will of the people. instead they are trying to change the electorate or give the people a reason to support a racist, elitist agenda that engages in distractions while they rob us all blind.

    sigh...

Literally trying to rig an election. The thing he's been screaming about since 2016.

30% of this country not being able to see through his bullshit is so depressing.

you're missing it. they see through it. they dont care. they want their team to win no matter what.

  14. Because literally everyone drops DEs into coverage in order to blitz from an overloaded spot. If they don't want to do it in college, then don't go to any top 25 program and they can forget about going to the NFL.

Hell, DTs have to be able to drop into spots on occasion...
