Truth. I loved going to the Ritz. I'd get downtown about an hour before the movie and have some drinks on a rooftop bar, followed by dinner and more drinks while watching the movie at the Ritz, and then exiting to the sea of humanity on 6th to have another drink or two. Good times which will be missed.
I agree. If this thing passes, and the council and APD do not clean this mess up, the State will certainly get involved. It would not surprise me to see DPS just fully take over APD in that scenario.
I'm not sure, but I tried the new traffic pattern today.
I exited Rundburg, took the U-turn lane which is now a dedicated on ramp to get back on I-35 South, and you then have two new flyovers from 35 S to 183 N and 183 S.
It worked seamlessly, and is a very viable solution for 4 months while the 35 N to 183 N flyover is rebuilt.
Slightly off topic, but damn the Domain has turned into a pretty substantial skyline. When driving north on 183 it could be mistaken as Austin's downtown by someone from out of town.
Had that happen at the Y2K celebration in downtown Austin. I think the media reported 250,000 were there, and as the countdown was occuring the crowd was pushing forward, but there was nowhere to go. Luckily I was able to remain on my feet, but it was a terrifying experience.
There is a plan in place which should make the flyover being closed not be as bad.
There are some details in this news story if you're interested.
