  1. For now, analysts I've read believe they are going to primarily be used for air defense.
  2. His girlfriend also gave insight into how Russians are getting around sanctions. Julia Vavilova, Pavel Durov's girlfriend, revealed on Twitch how she used cryptocurrency to circumvent Russian sanctions. "When Russia went under sanctions, my smart friends, I'm really glad that I have my smart friends around me who educate me about crypto who gives me opportunities, other stuff. [..] He just told me, the same day, send all the crypto to trust wallet"
  3. Even by making this info public, Russia either has to respond by moving air defense assets, thereby weakening air defense closer to the frontline, or not respond, thereby leaving high-value targets far from the frontline more vulnerable.
  4. Odd. More work to do in the Black Sea
  5. Good lord. The Ukrainian Air Force reported about the huge missile and drone attack that happened this morning. A total of 236 missiles/drones were used by Russia. Shot down: 1/3 Kinzhal Kh-47M2 aeroballistic missiles 1/6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles 1/1 Kh-22 cruise missile 99/115 Kh-101/Kalibr/Kh-59/69 cruise missiles 99/109 Shahed drones Given the enormous size of this attack, air defense did extremely well. Impossible. Sarkisian fights against the Aggies, not with them.
  6. Many folks are now saying this ammo storage strike might've actually been the Palyanytsia and not a Neptune. Not clear for now because the official release said the Palyanytsia strike was on a military facility in occupied territory, but that doesn't mean there weren't multiple.
  7. "Ruslan, 42, deputy commander of the 68th brigade, which is defending the front lines around Pokrovsk, said he cannot remember such intense fighting at any other point since he was drafted to the military in the fall of 2022 from a coal mine where he used to work. In the last week alone, he said, his troops have retreated some six miles. His own hometown, Novohrodivka, is now the front line, he said." @siobhan_ogrady @s_morgunov Tetiana Buranova washingtonpost.com/world/2024/08/…
  8. 👀 Today, President Zelenskyi announced the successful first combat use of the Ukrainian missile-drone “Palyanytsia.” “It is a drone — and it is a missile, because according to its tactical and technical characteristics, the product falls under both definitions,” the ministry of strategic industries added
  9. Happy Prigozhin Day. Shoigu and Gerasimov receive the first grievances.
  10. Secret squirrel is prone to hyperbole and getting ahead of his skis. I'd take it with some salt for now.
  11. New sanctions and aid forthcoming US unveils massive tranche of sanctions targeting Russia https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/23/politics/us-sanctions-russia/index.html
  12. C'mon just send it across the bridge again. It'll be fine. The Crimean Wind explains the situation with fuel delivery to Crimea after yesterday's strike on the Conro Trader ferry. According to their information, all three existing tankers are no longer operational, while fuel transportation across the bridge has not been carried out since previous strikes on the bridge.
  13. Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region took three more villages backed by visual evidence. Russkaya Konopel'ka, the village of Korenevo (not to be confused with the town Korenevo) and Krasnooktyabr'skoe are now under AFU control. With the last village it is now confirmed that Russians south of the Seym river can only withdraw crossing this river. Everythings going well in Russia. Warning: graphic Aleksandr Khodakovsky of the Russian Vostok Battalion highlights the growing challenge of convincing Russian soldiers to participate in assaults. He points out that the high financial incentives used for recruitment have created a situation where soldiers are primarily focused on survival to enjoy the money they've earned. Unlike in Wagner, where the threat of a bullet loomed both ahead and behind, there are now almost no effective means of motivating soldiers.
  14. I'm sure the giant stacks of hay won't contribute to the problem. Let's hide behind there
  15. Great info. Two other factors to consider: Spousal benefits are up to 50% of their spouse's SS benefit (if the spouse who did not pay-in waits until 67, but it's 32.5% if taken at age 62. Again, this is based on the age of the spouse who is receiving the spousal benefit) Survivors benefits are 100% assuming you live past full retirement age, so if your spouse is much younger than you and you will pass that benefit on to them (because they don't have or have a lower SS benefit), this would need to be added into the calculations.
  16. Neptune strikes again?
  17. A look at what the poor goats must endure:
  18. Came here to post this. Here's the translation. A true Surly-esque poet. 10/10 Dostoevsky moment with a Russian guy witnessing the Marinovka air base following a Ukrainian drone assault. “There it is flying by, fuck. Fucking flying over again, fuck. It’s all fucking fucked up! Everything. It’s fucked as fuck. They’re fucking bombing it since 2.30 am, and they still are fucking it now. It’s a serious tragedy, folks. This is serious stuff. It’s all fucking on fire. And it’s fucking smoke. It’s all fucking exploding. That’s it. The Oktyabrsky airfield is fucking fucked as fuck. That’s really something else. And all the new hangars, it’s all blown up in the air, fuck.”
  19. 🚨 Ukrainians scammed the Russian milbloggers 'Two Majors' of 1 million rubles On August 9, "Two Majors" announced a collection for fighters in the Kursk area, including 7 Maviks, for a total of 1,800,000 rubles. Ukrainians contacted the fund and convinced them that they could promptly deliver the Maviks, but an advance payment was required. On August 13, the head of the " Two Majors" with over 1 million followers on Telegram transferred 999,990 rubles to the account of the fictitious company OOO "Digital ARS RUS". On August 20, a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded a video with words of gratitude for the purchased equipment. 😆🤣
