Well we may not need a 2020 thread in Travis Co. The Statesman is reporting that the Travis chief appraiser told some local school districts that the appraiser will not be re-appraising residential properties for 2020. Evidently TCAD is not allowed access to MLS data, but somehow they were deriving the data from other sources and the Austin Board of Realtors sent them a cease and desist order to stop doing that. TCAD says they can't do their job without this data (which, in theory, they are not supposed to have?) so they don't plan to reappraise residential properties this year. Seems like that is kinda their job.
So, if you live in Travis County your appraised value from 2019 may be your appraised value for 2020. Will your taxes still go up? Of course! If you were limited last year by the 10% per year cap, your taxable value will rise even if your appraised value does not. Also, I think the new SB2 caps on tax (2.5% for schools and 3.5% for county and city -- I think) apply to tax revenue and not to tax rates. If true, this means that everyone except the school district can probably just crank up the tax rate to account for not having higher appraised values, to hit the maximum revenue values allowed under law. And they will.
The school district tax works a little bit differently. I'm not sure if Austin ISD is currently maxed out on tax rate or if there is a little room left to crank it up.
I bought a house in 19 with an appraised value 35% less than purchase price. I'm going to do cartwheels if they don't reappraise.

Yeah, I don't think borrowing from the IRS is really a good idea. Vinnie just breaks your kneecap. The IRS takes everything you own.
That said, how do you not notice a huge jump in your paycheck deposit?
This...personal responsibility and all that.

100% kid free/ no college expenses in 2019. Bought a house and sold a house.
Got a relo package from work that was grossed up to allegedly cover the tax.
Got a feeling it's either gonna be really sweet or really shitty. Have a hard time believing it's gonna be +/- $300 or something that close to $0.
If they grossed it up at your tax rate or at a higher rate, then you will be covered. Usually employer gross ups are at 22%. If thats not enough, I'd go back to the company for more $$ (will also need to be grossed up).

Just pulled the trigger on a king size tempur-pedic from costco. From what I can tell online, costco sells old discontinued models of tempur beds. They are about 50% off compared to a current model tempur-pedic. Can get a king mattress for 2K. Can get a split king on adjustable frame for 4K.

Never done it before , looking to get rid of my 17 tundra 4x4.
Have trade in offers for 34k, but think I could get 36-37 doing it myself . How much of a pain will it be ? Thinking of posting on auto trader , any other sites better?
I think you'll have a hard time finding a cash buyer at that price. Will a bank lend on a private deal like this?

never seen a player give up more catches in blanketed coverages because a)the qbs and wrs in this league are insane, and b)unrefined ball skills. he must have lost at least 4-5 picks over his career because he mistimed his jump. but all of that said the dude can seriously cover. i've never doubted his ability to play in the NFL.
this. boyd always seemed to be there but could never make a play on the ball

I smoked a bone in ribeye over the weekend and then finished it over direct heat. Topped with homemade garlic herb butter.

Try looking up the value on NADA.com. I was able to get a significantly better settlement for my totaled truck by sending in the nada value to the adjuster.
I’d also check kbb, Texas direct auto, and local dealers for comps -
Buying a new c class is a great way to turn 45k into 25k in two years

how do you get the consistent crust all over? mine is usually speckled from salt/pepper flakes and less like one solid crust.
I do a lot of salt and then a shit ton of Costco coarse ground pepper. Smoke unwrapped for 4-6 hours then finish in paper.- 1

It’s:
1. Legitimately douchey to post how he wasn’t “happy” at 247 after Burton (say what you will about him) wrote a respectful going away message for him. My opinion would change if EJ had really been screwed over by 247 about something, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Respect his decision ... lulz.
2. Funny that Burton’s version was actually more flattering to EJ (“they are relocating because his wife is going to medical school, and he found a great opportunity closer to where they will be living!”) than his own version (“I just wasn’t happy - whatevs - and in case you didn’t notice, I’ve also been mailing it in the last couple of months!”). And even funnier that EJ apparently wanted to correct the record on that.
I am actually going to miss that ridiculous person.
All of this. EJ’s “announcement” was cringey as hell.

So I bought a new house in October 2019. My lender didn't pay my property taxes from escrow on time. I noticed about a week before the January 31 deadline, and contacted the mortgage company to ask what was up. They said my taxes should have been paid at closing in October 2019...wtf? Property tax bills weren't even out in October.
Anyways, after a little runaround I got them to submit the payment and it was credited to my account on Jan 31, 2020.
I took standard deduction for 2019, but if I was itemizing, this woulda screwed me out of a few grand in deductions. Would I have had any recourse?
