You're not getting what I'm saying.  I love Austin and kinda hate Lubbock.  I'm moved here as soon as I could, and I love it.  I also love the university, as an institution.  Loving Austin is about a lot more than just whether I cheer for UT versus Tech, though.   Again, though, as I said in my last comment, it seems like so many of you don't seem to realize that, even with the facilities and the money and the history, everything is not 100% great here, and also, there are great things about other places too.  If it was only about money and facilities, UT would win every 99% of all games in all sports, but there's more to it than that.

I think you underestimate the CDC effect. The Texas AD has been a shit show for the better part of a decade. I get why coaches wouldn’t want to be a part of that. But now we have a top 5 athletic director with a real vision, and also a guy that goes to the end of the earth to support his coaches. I think texas coaching jobs are much more attractive with a guy like CDC at the helm.

  2. As most of my gun searches go, I've raised my budget a bit. I went and looked at a Bergara 14 HMR at my local gun shop yesterday, and really liked it. The interwebs seem to have nothing but good things to say about it. I have a "western" rifle already in 300 win mag, so I think i'd be okay with lugging this 9lb rifle to the deer stand and back.

    Anyone here have one?

Got the bergara! Any recs for scope rings to pair with a zeiss conquest hd 5? 5-25x50

    Merry Christmas gun nuts!

Did he try to lie his way out of it?

Yeah, he told the cops that someone from the main lanes swerved into his lane forcing him to go through the barrier. I let him tell the cops his lie before I told them I had a video of the accident. Guy was a piece of shit.

  5. As said above a Savage would be a good choice.... better than the xrp IMO and I’m a Winchester fan.  If you are a little flexible on calibers, CDNN sports has some Browning Abolts on clearance for under $500 in .270, 6.5 cm and 30-06.  That would be worth a look and would all do what the .308 will do based on your goals.  The Mico Stalker in 6.5 Creedmoor would be a helluva Texas hunting gun under $500 and topped with your scope. ($424 after rebate).

I’m intrigued by the 6.5 Creedmoor. I hear the ammo is pretty expensive though. I have a 240 Weatherby which is almost $4/round for hunting loads. I figured the .308 would be a bit cheaper for knocking down pigs

Also, my understanding is the zeiss scope I have is intended to be used with a .308

I’m more of a hunter than a gun guy, so been trying to figure this stuff out. Appreciate the replies

Cross posting from the BGE thread but here’s the only pic I got of a 13.5 lb prime packer I did last night for the last GT home game.

I spent my first 30+ years in Georgia believing that BBQ = pig. Hell I was raised on a hog farm. Then I went to work for Dell for five years and spent a lot of time in Texas. Even ducked out of training to go to Lockhart.

All of the tough cuts have their place, and I’ll always be partial to whole hog, but when you do a good brisket for Georgians their minds are just blown. Guy with all the resources in the world just told me, “You are NEVER trying my brisket.” (Implying that he can’t hang.)

Smoke on gentlemen. Go Jackets and Hook Em.

  8. Bro 1 sounds smart.  I have owned one Toyota in the time that most of y’all have owned 3 or 4 trucks of other brands. 2006 model bought new in 2005.
It’s on it’s third set of tires, and it’s second battery. Gone through two brake jobs, but rotors are still fine, new pads only. 223,000 miles. And that’s it.
Its been 9 years since i made my last car payment. I was a father to a young toddler when I bought it and he’s going to inherit it as his first truck in just a couple of years.
I just thought it was a cool looking truck back then. Now, barring any massive changes in their product line, I just simply won’t ever buy another brand.
My next truck is going to be a newer nicer version of the same truck only because my son is about to need a truck and I’ll be damned if he’s getting the new one.

Have heard this about every brand but Dodge
