lol @ how mad Gen Xers are that millenials and zoomers prefer an ancient Silent Generation Jew to their skateboarding clowns and cops.

Your parents don't like you and neither do your kids.

    Ok boomer

That’s not how this meme works. Bt is not the stereotype. He is usually right. You are usually wrong. And y’all are crying like liddle’ Bitches in here. Let the record show the vast majority of gen x itt had to be taken to the revolution kicking and screaming. Good thread.

Oh Illinois? Is that one of the first 4? Super Tuesday?

no? THEN WHO CARES. Someone fucking poll Nevada or something that matters.

We don’t want to talk about those polls anymore. I wonder why? Someone help me out.

  3. I’d usually agree and take Khabib 100% but just can’t do it here. Ferguson is the quicker and more creative striker when compared to Poirier. Ferguson is definitely better on the ground. Just see his finishes during his equally impressive win streak. D’arce, rear naked, D’arce etc. In a scramble? Give me Ferguson. When you saw Poirier look to his corner w Khabib on him you had to know it was over. Tony does not have any self-doubt.

Khabib hasn’t experienced any real problems in the cage. Looking at the faces of the fighters Tony has dealt with I would be shocked if Khabib escapes unscathed. How does Khabib deal w adversity? I have no idea because he’s too damn good and hasn’t fought anyone like Tony.

Khabib v Ferguson is a done deal. Set for 4/18. Don’t want to jinx it, but that’s a ton of time for someone to find a way to fuck this up again. I’m excited though. I think Ferguson is the only guy in the division skilled enough and crazy enough to pull this off.

It’s a toss up. Tony isn’t going to be worried about trying to get Khabib off of him when it goes to the ground. Tony is looking for any opportunity to spill blood. Can’t wait.

I don't want the Mavs giving up young assets and picks in the coming drafts for players who are old. Why not just wait until the off-season when Lee comes off the books and sign someone with open cap space?

I also believe we need someone who can handle the ball and take some of the load off Luka. Griffin and Aldridge don't bring that and they're also somewhat redundant to KP.

Next year is the first year of the "go for it" window IMO. This year is all about setting the table for the run.

I agree with most of this. Think Brunson is fine as a long term backup to Luka. Pass on LA or Blake. Don’t rush it. The Mavs have their superstars. The hard part is done. Find the right complimentary pieces. 3D guys.

????  Really?  I mean, the UK is not "the West?"  Am I missing something?

Um, the BBC is the dictionary picture of “western media”.

It’s not American media but “the west” contains much, much more than “USA Today”.

I wish I could say I’m surprised by your ability to be intentionally obtuse in the face of overwhelming evidence. Carry on.

    3) the media coverage I've read and seen seems pretty thorough, and has not been kind to the incoming government.  Like, not at all.  I don't see much whitewashing -- they look fucking horrible in the light of coverage.

    4) the volume of stories on Hong Kong protests v. Bolivian protests is around 43 million hits to 8 million hits.  You COULD take that as some sign of bias.  OR, you could take it as a sign that the Hong Kong protests have been a big deal since mid-June.  So, for almost five months.  The Bolivian protests, on the other hand, have been going on for less than a month.  Heck, if you match up the number of hits to the amount of time each story has been a thing, the ratio is pretty spot-on -- just over 5:1 to 5:1.

Come on brisket. Thorough? No whitewashing? Link me an article about Bolivian protestor deaths from cnn msnbc abc wsj Bloomberg etc. COULD you take that as a sign of bias? Do you think these outlets will be silent when people in Hong Kong are being killed?

Did you read the headlines when coming up with your ratios? There is barely any mention of people dying in Bolivia at the hands of the military from major news networks. That is what the tweet was insinuating. Not that the coup wouldn’t be covered at all. How could it not be?

i guess the NYT isn't western media

Mostly ignored? I believe I get the article you're referring to to show up with a specific google search. Then I get blocked by a paywall and can’t read it. Fitting.

Let’s play a game. Google Bolivia protests. Can even click on the little news tab right. You see what pops up right? Now let’s do Hong Kong protests. Do you see a difference? Which protest situation currently has more deaths attributed to it? Which one is in our hemisphere and which is in the other? Which one does the USA prefer the rioters to riot and which does the USA prefer the rioters to stfu?

  9. Bernie uh JFK on healthcare in 1962. Starts speaking at about the 5 min mark.

Refers to FDR’s Social Security Bill in 1935. JFK thought 25 years was too long of a wait. Now you know how Bernie must feel about it. This progressive leader was assassinated about a year later.

The civil rights act passed in 1964. Another progressive leader MLK assassinated in 1968. His plan in 1967 was based on guaranteed income and economic security.

“A host of positive psychological changes inevitably will result from widespread economic security. The dignity of the individual will flourish when the decisions concerning his life are in his hands, when he has the assurance that his income is stable and certain, and when he knows that he has the means to seek self-improvement. Personal conflicts between husband, wife and children will diminish when the unjust measurement of human worth on a scale of dollars is eliminated.”

She comments all the time. She’s called out Bibi for being a corrupt POS.  She’s written articles defending the people of Hong Kong.  She’s been active in putting an end to Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen.  She serves of the Foreign Relations committee in the Senate for crying out loud.

I’m not going to bash Bernie but I am curious as to what his major foreign policy accomplishments are in his career worth celebrating?

Warren’s strongest area of the things you listed culminated with guess who leading the fight for the War Powers Resolution. Does this vote ever see the floor without Bernie? The fact she serves on the committee should make her voice the loudest of the candidates.

It’s rough bringing up Bernie’s accomplishments worth celebrating. Can I celebrate him being right even though it all fell on deaf ears? It’s a fucking travesty this man wasn’t listened to decades ago foreign policy included. Certainly no cause for celebration. I mean where has he been wrong? That will be a shorter list guaranteed.

  11. 8 minutes ago, Hugo Stiglitz said:

Dude, come on.  Just because Bernie might tweet about foreign policy more doesn’t mean he would be better at.

Foreign Policy is mostly about negotiating towards mutually beneficial solutions, building alliances, and keeping the peace.  I have no reason to believe Bernie would be better at this than Warren.  And to think Warren wouldn’t educate herself in foreign policy areas she needed to is just dumb.

So you’re going with her imagination. It’s better than most I imagine so you got that going for you I think. You don’t think a presidential candidate should comment on these issues? Does their silence not at least signal uncertainty? I know what Bernie would like to accomplish around the world because he has explicitly stated his positions on multiple issues on many different occasions. It is as consistent as the rest of his body of work.
