  1. That sounds like a good deal. But I feel you and others on this thread should know that means you're using a Haswell processor, which is now 6 generations old and was first released in  2013.  Newer processors, even from 2 years ago, are easily 2 or 3 times more powerful for computational tasks, not to mention the extra boost for programs that take advantage of certain newer instruction sets. The increase in integrated graphics performance is even higher. And, none of that includes things that may be even more important for day-to-day use like huge improvements in battery life, support for faster wifi standards, support for thunderbolt, usb-c, and faster solid-state drives and memory. Sorry, not meaning to rain on the parade.

True. Guess it just depends on what you need it for.
  2. I’m done buying new. I just picked up a pre-owned Dell Latitude E7440 (slim body) with the I5 and 8gig of ram, 10 Pro, 1080P display off eBay for $140. Added a 500GB SSD drive. Granted you can get a newer spec pre-owned Latitude for maybe $300 but these were $1500 machines a couple years ago and mine looks and runs like new.

  3. Most of these storms are mid-level rotation, not dropping wall cloud but these are some serious storms.

Worst I’ve seen in terms of severe punch in DFW for some time. Nasty winds and unbelievable rain.
  4. ^^^
Nope. The 30 is a fairly old model with lower lumens, the 35-40-45 are much better than the 30.  A new in the box 45 goes for $1400 on eBay. Here's a 40 with 636 hours on it and a backup lamp and ceiling mount for under $800, on buy it now, shipped. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-VPL-HW40ES-SXRD-1080p-Projector/202693122993?epid=219582488&hash=item2f31739bb1:g:WXoAAOSwX5tc5Wzf
If you have a snipe program there are zero bids with the auction expiring today. Note there are 8 people watching which means they all likely have snipe programs.

    Thanks
  5. Screen size and seating distance from the screen? Are you going to game on it?
Blacklab and I both have Sony VPL-HW??ES models and love them. Mine is pre 4K and I think his is too.
Processing speed is important if you want to game on it.
Read up a bit here-  https://www.avforums.com/forums/projectors-screens-video-processors.43/

Are you in a major city? HT installers are fading away due to 85" TVs with no light controlled room needed

Found some one local selling a low time VPL-HW30ES for a grand. He’s pretty firm on the price. Good deal?
  6. Our new house has a small room upstairs that was built into the attic. It runs warm even though it has two AC ducts feeding into it. Likely not enough insulation and/or inadequate ducting. That said, I’d like to put a stand-alone room cooler up there to fire up as needed. But there’s no windows so as far as I can tell I can’t use something like this because they require a window duct. Any other suggestions? It’s about 300 sq ft.

  7. What's far more offensive to me than the politics shit is the ham-fisted shoehorning of movie and music promotion into ESPN's broadcasting.
"LeBron looking like Captain America out there in the fourth quarter...speaking of which, don't forget that Captain America is in theaters Friday May 12...."
    I don't give a fuck.

Disney bought ABC in 1996. The last year ESPN was truly watchable.
  8. Someone above mentioned Lost... to me the last couple seasons and especially this abortion of a finale remind me of TWD. That show’s creator left after season 1 and it was painfully obvious. But AMC had a money maker so the show went on. I gave up several seasons ago on that one.
This one I was committed to because I binged seasons 1-6 a couple years ago and was committed.
I’d say this is apropos but I keep finagling HBO for free for some reason.
