LSU is steamrolling Rice at Reckling. 16-4 in the 7th

I don't want to shit on Rice after last nights LSU game, but can we agree that the ASU / Rice plan of hiring a coach with no actual coaching experience was a failure?  Bloomquist is around .500 but Cruz is stinking up Reckling.

On a side note I bit on the +3000 Texas money line for winning the College World Series.  If it doesn't happen it was me.

  2. Washington got their first win of the season against Whataburger Aggie in Corpus Christi.

Stanford is 1-5 to start the year and has been outscored 58-24 in those games.

I watched some of the series last weekend and thought they looked pretty decent.  Not supposed to lose to Pitt, though.

Yeah, the extra inning thing was crushing to end in a tie.

  4. My prediction of Washington being scrappy seems to be unfounded.   they are 0-3-1 on the year.

Stanford is 1-4 on the year getting whooped by pedo state in palo alto this evening.

Witt should be a non option until his fastball is back over 90. I’m not even worried about the strikes, his stuff is a dud

If that is your criteria then the people two years ago who said he would never pitch another meaningful inning for us were correct.

It's telling that they already announced that Witt is not one of the starters. Pearce said last Sunday that he "just didn't have it" and that's why he pulled him early. Yet he not starting this weekend. Sadly, not sure he'll make it am the way back. Maybe the plan is to start him on a weeknight game.

I would like to see WItt in a blowout situation just throwing strikes, not trying to protect anything.  EIther this weekend or next Tuesday.

They’re showing the concurrent softball game against ULL live. That starts at 12:30. The baseball game begins at 1 and will be aired from 2:30-5:30.

However, I’m curious if we’ll still be able to catch it live on ESPN+

That is the story.   You can always listen to the game on texas.leanplayer.com assuming they have their shit together finally.

Ole Miss is probably not getting in right now at a 68 NET. Clemson missed the tournament at 60 NET. Rutgers missed it at 40 NET. Weak non-conf schedules will get ya. Rutgers made it one year at 77 NET but they had 9 Q1/2 wins that year, including 3 on the road

Ole Miss’ problem is going to be the nonconf ranking of 171 and only a 4-7 Q1/2 record and 15 Q3/4 opponents. By contrast, Texas has a worse nonconf (197), but 5-8 Q1/2 and only 13 Q3/4 record. Texas has 3 top tier road wins against Cincy, TCU and OU. Ole Miss has 1 decent road win (aggy).

they’re the last team in right now and still play SC, Bama, Mizzou, aggy and Georgia.

As long as abe lemons still coaches marquette my point still stands...

What does "No Contest" mean on the Bryant/ UCF score up above?  Called before 5th Inning was over?

WIth rain in the forecast the series was changed from Fri-Sun to Friday, Saturday double-header.

The first Saturday game was suspended in the top of the 5th inning due to rain (after a 5 hour rain delay that they did come back from).  The plan was to resume on Sunday.  That did not happen making the first game a non-contest.  The second game was unable to be played and canceled.  I'd assume that Bryant is not going to come back to make it up.

    UCF (1-0) plays @ Miami (3-0) today.

Last year could be chalked up to rushing back and just not regaining command of his stuff yet. Now that he is two years removed any lingering command issues should have been ironed out by this point.

The mystery physical setback referenced by Pierce seems to be the elephant in the room. If it is a bone spur, that is not good. If he got it operated on he wouldn’t be able to even pick up a ball for about 6 weeks and his season would very much be in jeopardy. On the same token, at least it would explain what we are seeing and not all hope would be lost for his future prospects. It sucks that the kid turned down huge money to try to bet on himself and try to lead this team back to Omaha, and this is how his season starts.

Or maybe he doesn't pass a MLB physical.

I mostly want to believe Pierce wouldn't have put Witt out there if he didn't think he could perform, and the in-game interview made it seem like he was a little baffled, but my goodness, the guy just doesn't seem ready.  I hope it's physical, and not between his ears.

Isn't this what Tanner did late in the year last season?  I mean I'm 100% for him doing well and if it something he can work through now is the time.

    Is this really shocking?
