Don’t you dare disrespect the mighty Dowell basketball family. Those men are always ballers. Lone Star only Avenger it was Avinger.

Holy shit that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. They played in our summer league baseball league. Those kids were always damn tough on the mound and in the batters box. The best part was everyone had a nickname. Pookie, mookie, etc. “Hit the ball, Pookie!” Was always good for the lulz.

I grew up in Marshall. Water issues like you mentioned were never a thing. This must be a fairly new issue.

On the other hand, it’s been nearly 2 decades since I left home. My folks moved to another town, and then my grandmother passed-I think I’ve been there 3 times in the last dozen years. So I’m in basic agreement with the general point of the op. I don’t have any longing for the place.

I’d recommend Big Pines Lodge in Uncertain, but I’ve heard it’s not as good since it was rebuilt after a fire a few years back (and I obviously haven’t been).

I don’t think Big Pines has been the same since the original owners passed away. There was nothing better than walking in and grabbing a beer out of the cooler while waiting on a table. They were also huge longhorn fans and maybe even alums. Before the fire there were plenty of signs/memorabilia and if a game was on it was always on the TV behind where they sat at the counter.

Our tennis teams have a permanent facility but our football team has a bubble?

Hell both the mens and women's teams have won national championships since 2019. Since that time our football team has beaten Colorado in the Alamo bowl and finished 5-7. The bubble is not the problem.

  4. My sister has 7 kids. I will post the age of the 1st kid when each of the other 6 were born:

    2nd kid - 11.5 months
    3rd kid - 2 years 2 months
    4th kid - 3 years 7 months
    5th kid - 5 years 3 months
    6th kid - 6 years 11 5 months
    7th kid - 8 years 11.5 months

#2 and #6 have the same birthday.

Her oldest has 3 kids of her own now. Oldest is 5.

  5. Since it’s the shank thread I figured the Chicken Express rolls were enough and you guys wouldn’t give a shit about the Turkey that I used for the meat since it was already in the fridge. The cheese was shredded because it was also leftover from earlier in the week. Isn’t that the whole point of this damn thread? Making due with what’s available?

  6. No pictures, but I made sliders tonight for dinner. We had some leftover rolls from Chicken Express so sliced them in half and toasted them with some butter and we used them as the bun. I grilled some purple onion and shredded some American cheese. The Chicken Express rolls were damn good buns. We will definitely do that again.

  7. Check out CityPass for Houston and you can probably save some money on admission for these places. Right now, I think you can get the following:

    Space Center Houston
    Downtown Aquarium
    Houston Museum of Natural Science
Choice Ticket 1: Choose between Houston Zoo OR Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Choice Ticket 2: Choose between Kemah Boardwalk All-Day Ride Pass OR Children’s Museum of Houston

  8. I work in a paper mill so I’ve heard plenty of dumb shit. The tough part is when the dumb shit comes in the form of a telephone call at 2am. I had an operator call me one night to tell me he couldn’t get his kiln burner to lite. It was already lit and had been for quite a while. Apparently our controls are so good the shit operates itself.

I had an operator ask if a valve was residential or commercial. It was most definitely commercial

We had one ask for limo tint on the window of the control room because the sun was too bright.

  9. What the fuck is up with having to “reboot their system” every morning that takes 10-15 minutes? A couple of time over the last few months I’ve pulled in at 4:45 AM on my way to work. Both times I was greeted with “our system is rebooting and it will be 10-15 minutes before we can take your order”. What the fuck is up with that bullshit. I just want my sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit and I’ll be on my way assholes.

  10.
    Sulphur, Louisiana ?

ABB put an office in Sulphur and started offering training out of it. I gladly chose Westerville Ohio over fucking Sulphur La. I know it’s close to plenty of refineries and about midway between Houston and Baton Rouge, but holy hell. I guess money makes the decisions on training locations.
