    Hunter Brown last 15:

    8-2, 1.66, 111, 25.

It won’t move the needle nationally because MLB marketing sucks, but give me an ALCS with Skubal vs Detroit kid Brown facing off twice

    Dana, segment 2:

Matthews: need to see him make more contact; combinations of swing decisions and chases a little bit; once he gets to a place he is making really good contact and driving the ball...he is on his way.

Draft: 21st pick; narrowed down a few guys we think will be there.  next pick is at 95, think we'll get a really good play there as there is a lot of depth in this draft.

    From two weeks ago…

    what has Brice done since?

K’d 28.8% of the time, right in line with his overall minor league average of 29.3%.

so yeah, get ready for more Whitcomb.

He's gonna strikeout a lot.  So just prepare yourselves.

Yep. Gonna be interesting to see where they try to hide him to avoid him coming up with 2 outs and runners on.  We’ve been sooo good in that situation this year.

he needs to room with Paredes on road trips

1,377 comments. I assume at least 800 are from people who don't understand the infield fly rule.

I sheepishly admit that, up until last year, I did not realize or remember that you have to have runners on both 1st and 2nd (or bases loaded) for the infield fly rule to be invoked.

I thought it was anytime there was a force out with less than 2 outs.

half way point and day off tomorrow

what's your ONE biggest surprise of the first half, go ....

the quality of the pitchers that had to step up when 3 opening day staters were lost for the season. unreal

I think that has to be right.

    honorable mention to:

Pena and his 4th highest WAR in the majors.

Meyers batting .306 (and .264 behind in the count. Never had a season higher than .220 before this year and that was his rookie year when he only appeared in 49 games. Other years were .164, .183, and .151)

I would also say the bullpen (excluding Abreu and Hader), but as much shit as we give Dana, the man knows how to put together a bullpen of no names.

    on the negative side:

Walker giving Abreu a run for his money

And of course doing all of this with Yordan appearing in only 29 games (and never really getting going), no Bregman, no Tucker.

They don’t hand out shit for what you’ve done through 81 games, but Dana has to be in the running for GM of the year to this point.

  6. Dana talking about Yordan being back pretty quick.

threw out dodgers series, said it wasn’t likely but an outside possibility

re: Pena said he called Boras shortly after the announcement and said they were still interested in a long-term deal and would be in touch

The immortal Kevin Newman with a 3-run yack to likely end tonight’s last game.

Angels third most HRs in the majors, 1 behind Cubs for 2nd, 5 back of the Dodgers for 1st in 2 fewer games)… but bottom 5 in OBP.

Ford said the Phillies series was our first 3 game series allowing 1 run or fewer since the opener of 1979.

The Forsch game was a no hitter

June of 1992 was the only other time we swept a series scoring 5 runs.

eric Anthony drove in a run.

    incaviglia had a HR.

sounds like a game I was at.

    Circling back on this.

Damn! I was actually close. The worthless shit that sticks in a 10 year old’s brain until he’s well in to his 40s.

The June ‘92 game referenced above with the Inky HR was June 21 against the dodgers (part of a 3 game set we swept by a combined score of 5-1)

The game I was at was a week earlier, when Inky had two HRs (and 7 RBIs)…(back when this game was a proper sport and you used an actual pitcher (if you can call Rob Mallicoat (?) that) to close out a game you’re up 15-3 going to the 9th instead of a position player.)

Speaking of “back when this game was a proper sport”, I don’t know what’s more impressive: the entire can of skoal tucked under his lip, or busting it from 2nd to 3rd with the can in your back pocket

LMJ clearly strugling, and Espada leaves him in after HR, HR, BB, 1B, 1B, to face Tucker, allowing a 3-run HR and a follow-up 3B.

That's just straight up forfeiting a winnable game where we're hitting the other starter well.

It’s so dumb. After the tucker homer you leave him out there for one more guy? Instead of letting him eat innings?
