Carr seems to really want to be a pro. I'd be a little surprised if he didn't go to Australia with our guard/wing depth but one thing we are learning about Beard pretty quickly is he's a guy who makes it damn hard to say no to.
Sims is the modern rim rolling offensive big and switchable defensively. He might not be a rim protector and that would limit his upside but he's got a 8 year career as a rotational player.
How did/does Rick feel about departure from here? I can't recall Barnes ever really openly discussing it in the media.
It seems that Beard is making efforts to bringing Barnes back around the program, his former players, and city (as much as can be while he's still coaching) and that Barnes is open to it. I think it's a good thing. All the maddening things about Barnes have seemed to soften over time for most of the fanbase and I don't think it all comes down to the fact that alumni came to realize that the grass isn't always greener vis-a-vis Shaka.
Sampson got in trouble only for all the phone calls in dead periods at OU and IU right? I don't think it was anything worse. I wonder if we would consider him.
Any Eagles fan will tell you that the younger Reid will be coaching on the staff next year until he's actually convicted and goes to jail. The Reid family has coddled, protected, and rallied around their kids at every single fuck up (and there's been a lot of them, most of them unreported) since Andy came to Philly. They've long been threats to do something exactly like what happened and it's horrible its become a reality but not surprising.
When you can call plays like Andy can you can insulate your family more than most.
Yes precisely. I think it’s manufactured stuff but I can see that being the case. Both osu and florida turned the other cheek. We typically have not, but we also haven’t been in this type of negotiating position where we have no leverage. I’d prefer not to appoint Meyer to have absolute unchecked authority precisely because there is plenty of history to suggest what will happen if he has it. It’s wishful thinking to believe it will be different here because we are UT.
But fuck it, I want him too. But I am genuinely concerned as well.
I know we are fast approaching the masturbatory phase of the corch search, but I still hesitate about the reported negotiation of total control. Frankly I think it’s just made up talking points for $9.95 sustainability but if true I wonder if it’s Urban putting his foot down on any university oversight of his program. I’d rather not have a roster littered with rapists and criminals and being one step away from Briles.
A consensus on firing Herman by the decision makers is conditional at the moment. That condition has not been met so Herman is still the coach. Herman will continue to function in his job until either the condition has been met or consensus is reached without the conditional (either retaining or firing). I don't think it's that complicated and Herman conducting this press conference is fine if not emotionally gratifying.
If we going the win at any and all costs route like Meyer but can't get him you may as well bring the ethically challenged cheater at Oregon. Personally I'd rather hire someone likable and honest like Harsin who may not have any more success than Herman but at least won't be an asshole to every stakeholder in the program and university everyday.

Good read on Republican resurgence in the Valley. As someone who used to travel there for work a decade ago frequently but hasn't been back since it's an eye opening account. This is not the area I saw when I was there. If this continues we'll never have a chance to turn blue.
But what happens when you get a competent R version of Trump with the same philosophies (Tom Cotton?) who has a clear and direct plan to weaponize the R aligned judiciary?
