  1. This is such nonsense. When you’re not winning, literally anything can be negatively recruited. Homelessness is really only shocking to super suburban kids. It’s one of those things other schools can pile on when things are already going bad. That whole article doesn’t exist if we finished in the top 10 last year.
  2. Being OC at Syracuse is better than being Co-OC at Tulsa. He followed Strong to South Florida, got a head coaching job at Mcneese St, and is now an OC at a P5 school again. His career trajectory worked out fine.
  3. Ask Sterlin Gilbert about that, lol. I suppose they know at the end of the day they can easily get a job elsewhere, and LSU goes on the overall resume. Gilbert was the Co-OC at Tulsa when we hired him. One year of Texas on the resume was still better than staying where he was. I’m sure he did the math on that beforehand.
  4. I know. I’d like to think so, but as someone who has the misfortune of being a Dallas Cowboys fan, I can tell you it’s possible for those two things to not be joined at the hip.
  5. Yup, the NIL scares our athletic department because donors paying players directly might mean those donors pay less to the department in general. The goal of this AD is to continue to be the #1 grossing athletic department, actually winning seems like an aside.
  6. And people are in here talking about Brandon Harris. I’m sure he needs to be replaced, but our problems are a lot bigger than him.
  7. Being the 2nd best LB at Mater Dei isn’t really an insult, they have top 100-150 national players all over the place.
  8. I didn’t even pay attention to who I responded to until someone negged me. Which you know, fair enough. LB and WR. Plays at a small school, Two-way player.
  9. Yea man, the obvious caveat, everything can be bullshit. This board would be empty if we never discussed possible bullshit.
  10. I don’t see Abor giving us an honest look, but this is all pretty interesting. Surprising that Perkins is the one who convinced Abor to show when Perkins himself didn’t. And why has Oklahoma’s communication fallen off? They blew that recruitment pretty bad.
  11. Damn, I like Wallace a lot and plenty of smart people think he’s better than George, but that is one hell of a gamble if George was ready to commit here. If this were football, I’d be vehemently against it. Beard deserves more benefit of the doubt than the football staff, but man. Hopefully the Wallace situation is more in our favor than we realize at the moment.
  12. I keep seeing this, but unless Cason Wallace was in the fold, I don’t understand how it makes sense.
  13. It’s not like this NIL thing snuck up on anybody, everyone knew it was coming. It’s hard for me to believe this athletic department is serious about winning AND was caught flat footed on NIL. Those two things are not reconcilable.
  14. The timing of Guilbeau’s de-commitment made absolutely no sense. Just a stunning lack of awareness. I know kids can get caught up, but an adult in his life should’ve stepped in and said just wait for a little bit longer.
  15. When I was a student, most student organizations were not allowed to make burnt orange shirts for their groups. And you’d have a hard time finding a t-shirt maker in Austin willing to print you a shirt in that color without permission from UT. Im sure some groups found work-arounds, but they made it as difficult as possible. This sounds like more of the same to me.
  16. About half of D1 football players in the transfer portal are walk-ons. All of those fear-mongering stories about the high portal numbers were super disingenuous. They were including a bunch of walk-ons that were just looking for a scholarship.
  17. That’s the entire point of the post you’re responding to, that’s what he “wasn’t good at coaching them” means. So are you arguing that the team wasn’t talented enough or fit well enough to beat Abilene fucking Christian? Because the point I’m making is that talent and fit isn’t the reason they lost that game, poor coaching was.
  18. The team fit well enough last year to win the Big 12 tournament, that should’ve been enough to beat Abilene fucking Christian.
  19. Everybody is really saying the same thing. Recruiting wasn’t Shaka’s issue, he had more than enough talent to win, he failed schematically. But yeah, that should probably count more than 10%.
  20. Went from literally barely having a roster to “damn how are we going to split up the minutes with all these good players” all in the same offseason. As it stands right now, Disu, Bishop, and Askew are all likely coming off the bench. Febres and Cunningham probably won’t even be in the rotation. The challenge now is going to be getting all these guys to buy into their roles.
  21. Good to have some surprises go our way. Looks like this cycle is going to keep us on our toes, no one knows anything until right before it happens.
  22. Sims has no offensive game, but he’s freakishly athletic and defensively he can switch on the perimeter. Those two things alone can carve out a nice career in the NBA for a big.
