The feel-good inclusivity politics of the last thirty years are a big part of why we are now dealing with conspiracy theorists who are confident enough to espouse idiotic bullshit to anyone who will listen.  They genuinely believe that they are reading and doing research because they have no fucking clue what that means.   I know the Internet and social media provide a platform, but if we adequately shamed stupid people for being stupid none of this would be happening.  Instead, we pass kids along who can't read, convince certain folks (mainly white suburban kids) that they are intelligent because they score high on really easy standardized exams, and generally coddle morons of all stripes.   Maybe it's time to bring back the judgmental shaming of kids.  At the very least, start failing the kids who are too stupid to pass our embarrassingly easy public school classes instead of passing every single one of them along.   At least then, they'll know they're stupid and/or lazy and will have the opportunity to do something about it instead of just meandering into adulthood with misguided notions of their own intelligence.

TLDR: We would have fewer stupid adults if we started telling stupid kids they're stupid again.  Put that on a red hat.

tldr: We suffer fools gladly. We shouldn't suffer fools at all.

    1) they will not separate/disentangle in any meaningful way.  They aren't following any rules or norms re Elon as a "government employee" now, they won't in the future.

    2) GOOD.  Tie them together.  For eternity.  Then tie them to 1,000 cinderblocks, and toss them both, together, into the sea over the Marianas Trench.

Attack Elon.  Attack Trump.  In every possible way, in every arena.  Relentlessly.  Attack until they are finished, and then attack the rubble.  Elon is right about one thing: we ARE in a war for civilization.  Do you want it to be a fascist oligarchical hellscape, or maybe, just maybe, have societies that also consider what is good for the people as a whole?  Elon, you declared war on us.  You don't get to fucking walk that back.  You get to lose.

Once again. We should be attacking CONGRESS, who is just letting this shit happen. Neither DoTArd or BDNB (Broke Dick Nazi Boi) will be on a ballot.

In this scenario, Jeff Bezos would owe $10,000,000.00, while the other 99 people combined would owe $4,950,000.00. In this scenario one percent of taxpayers would be responsible for 66.89% of all tax revenue! How unfair that would be to Jeff Bezos! Those other 99 would be riding his coattails without his getting nearly the same benefit!

But Jeff Bezos is actually getting much more benefit than the middle class people. Because he has more to lose.

I get what you are saying, but I'm not so far out on the ledge that I think that states will be putting him on their ballots, with a few exceptions (Florida, OK). However, I am far out enough on the ledge that I think its possible he refuses to leave at the end of his current term, declares martial law, stays (or tries to stay) in power, and we have civil war II.

Regardless, either way, he won't be on a ballot. So voters' anger over doge won't directly affect him, which was my point. And unfortunately we are too stupid to direct that anger at the people who are allowing this shit, which is Congress.

Trump won West Virginia by 70% of the votes.

West Virginia receives 50% of its annual budget from federal funds.

Trump froze federal funds to West Virginia and farmers are losing their farms.

The thing is, even if the common clay of West Virginia do end up blaming DoTarD for this shit (narrator: they won't), it doesn't matter, because doTArd won't be on another ballot.

The congressmen who are allowing this will be on the ballot again, and they aren't taking the heat if dOTarD (or nazi bitch) is.

IOW, blaming DoTARd doesn't really matter.

All true, with the caveat that the tradeoff with the loss of mass in corking is more than overcome by the gain in velocity.  K = 1/2 mv^2.  Change in velocity has a greater relative impact on total kinetic energy than a change in mass.

That's why Bonds swung such a light bat.

    Yeah but....

The corking makes the bat softer, so some of that K is lost due to the higher elasticity of the corked bat.

But you are correct, which is what I was trying to say earlier in the thread when @jimmyjazz corrected (?) me.

It's my understanding that most broken bats occur when the ball strikes too close to the handle or too close to the end of the bat.  Somewhere in between would then be "ideal".  If the mass is concentrated there, then for the same weight bat the hitter's swing speed can increase and the ball is striking the heaviest portion of the bat.  I don't think it's magic, it's physics/engineering and I am not surprised it helps.

well physics/engineering = magic for some.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the entire purpose of corking a bat to make it lighter, thus easier to swing, thus increasing swing speed? The trade off with corking is the lighter the bat, the less speed the ball has after impact. Sounds like these bats give the advantage of increasing swing speed without the loss of actual mass.

Mass moment of inertia is what you are alluding to, and for equal mass it's lower when that mass is biased inward.  No free lunch.

I think the advantage is mostly related to the ball hitting the heaviest part of the bat.

right.. Krot is dependent on moment of inertia, not mass.

    Its been a while.

From a purely physics standpoint, this is pretty interesting. Hitters gonna love it, pitchers gonna hate it.

Article does a shitty job of explaining the science. My best attempt at an 8th grade explanation:

Assuming the mass and length of the bat aren't changed, moving mass closer to the handle makes the bat easier to swing, (meaning you can swing the bat with a higher velocity). Which has two effects:

    1. You can get the bat around quicker, making it easier to hit fastballs.

    2. Bat hits the ball with more kinetic energy (bat has same mass, but more rotational velocity), resulting in the ball leaving the bat with a greater speed (which means more homeruns).

I think this has the potential to change the game significantly.
