  1. Messi scores a 3rd

    After Argentina fouls to get the ball back (no call... NBA level star treatment), the ball goes to Messi who threads it through to Agüero and Kün scores for #4.

    Mascherano may or may not be moving well, depending on whether the Spanish speaking announcers are reading his body language correctly from their studio in Miami.

  2. 58' Build up from close, but this time to the right, Higuain overlaps, takes a 2nd touch that takes him to the endline, but chips back for Lo Celso (Defender... I believe... he's about 6ft) who heads it down, but the keeper blocks it and Messi cleans up the mess for his 2nd goal of the night.

    It's always good for Leo to score when playing in Argentina, because the locals get upset when he only scores for Barcelona.

    SUBS @ 59'

    Out: Higuain, Lanzini, Fazio, Dí Maria

    In: Pavón, Agüero, Rojo, Meza

  3. We need a thread to talk about all of the friendlies over the next 2 1/2weeks. (We don't need a separate thread for each match.)

    Argentina vs Haiti

    8' or 9' - Messi almost scores a goal like he did against Mexico in the 2007 Cops America, but he had more time tonight and his chip was non-Messi level.

    11' Messi with another shot.

    Messi appears to be playing much further forward than in the 2014 WC.

  4. Argentina is hosting Haiti at La Bombonera (La Boca's stadium) in about 10 minutes (6pm CDT).  (Tuesday, 5/29.2018)

    This game is in English on Be In Sports and in Spanish on Be In ñ

    Iceland. Because Viking clap.

    ...stolen from Scottish rugby fans who stole it from the Maori Haka that the New Zealand All Blacks perform before each rugby match, but hey...

    Let's call it a "Viking clap" even though the Baltics/Northern Atlantic (center of the Viking kingdom) is basically the opposite side of the globe from where that clap originates.

    The US media is making way too big a deal over Serena not being seeded. If the WTA was truly being unfair, she wouldn't be playing at all since her ranking isn't high enough to even be in the qualifying tournament right now. Also, coming back from pregnancy or injury, why should she keep her seeding from 2 years ago? She's not the same player she was 2 years ago and has only played a few matches all year ( and didn't look great in any of them)

    The whining out of that family and supporters of that family (over their careers) rivals the greatest whining in sports history.

    Weren't there some Celtics players who were chanting "we want Lebron" immediately after the Philly series?

    I bet that they still want LeBron on their team.

    What's with the past tense - "weren't"?

    Should be "aren't"!

  10. Ummm...

    His OV has always been scheduled for June. I grant you he's a fast motherfucker, but I don't think he is so fast that he can turn back time.

    Just in time for a real gotdam early summer heat wave..

    If only he were from someplace hot and were used to the heat... because then taking him to the lake or hanging out by the pool would be enough to sell him on ways to beat the heat.

    It can take an hour+ to get to the beach in LA (especially from the USC campus) depending on the time of day, but from the 40 Acres, over on Enfield, to Lake Austin can be done in a quarter of that time (depending on the time of day).

    All three are West London rivals to each other (and you could even throw in Brentford).

    As far as QPR fans are concerned Chelsea is the main rival (as in most hated; not in the competitive sense) followed by Fulham.  But given QPR's lower profile Chelsea fans would dismiss QPR as irrelevant anyway and yes Fulham would consider Chelsea their main rivals.

    While I was in Argentina, for a while my flatmate was from London and though he supported Newcastle, his younger brother was a Chelsea fan. This was during some of the FulhAmerica time, so I remember looking at the walk from Craven Cottage to Stamford Bridge on Google Maps. That's the only reason I was so familiar with the distance before even looking it up. Even my flatmate didn't realize that Stamford Bridge was technically in Fulham, because it's on the west side of the railroad tracks.

    (Though I never knew that Liverpool's and Everton's stadiums are on opposite sides of a park until I watched the Jamie Carragher "Premier League Legends" episode and there's a flyover during the intro. Only Racing & Independiente, both in the Buenos Aires suburb of Avellaneda, are closer to my knowledge. They are separated by a practice field.)

    I was going to say that QPR and Fulham probably have more of a storied rivalry due to similar finances for most of their history, but I looked it up and was I wrong.

    Club <- WINS - DRAWS - WINS -> Club

    Chelsea <- 46 - 26 - 11 -> Fulham - - 83 TOTAL MATCHES
    Chelsea <- 22 - 18 - 15 -> QPR- - - - - 55 TOTAL MATCHES
    Fulham <- 16 - 7 - 14 -> QPR - - - - - 37 TOTAL MATCHES

    Well done Fulham.  Our (QPR's) West London rivals, but I always like to see more London teams in the PL (more games to choose from when I go over).

    And fuck off John Terry.

    Craven Cottage is only 1.7 miles to Stamford Bridge, but it is 2.9 miles to Loftus Road Stadium.

    PLUS, both Craven Cottage and Stamford Bridge are actually in Fulham, whereas QPR is in Shepherd's Bush. Wouldn't that make Chelsea FC Fulham's West London rival?

    They’re gonna have to nail strategy to win since they don’t have a second car up front.

    Also, safety car(s).

    If they slow their second car until Ricciardo laps him and THEN he starts driving as hard as possible, does F1 come down on Red Bull, or is that strategy allowed?
