Coco sucks at Wimbledon.
That stupid forehand doesn’t do her any favors on grass (or fast hard courts like Australia).

My wife thinks 5 days in Paris is too much (bear in mind she's been twice without me, first time for me).
I can't imagine 5 days is nearly enough time in one of the worlds greatest cities. @PenelopeWitherspoon
I don’t want to step out of line here, but…Your wife sounds like she sucks.
17 hours ago, field said:I'd venture to say five days in Paris is plenty and, if she's already been there a few times, I can totally see how your wife wouldn't want to do five days.
Paris is beautiful architecturally but it can be one hell of a big city tourist trap and once you've seen the Eifel Tower or Arc, you've seen it. We just did three days and could have done four, but that would have been about all we needed. To each his own, though. We didn't do it on our last trip, but I'd love to do Normandy for a day if we ever went back. We did do a bike tour of Versailles and actually really liked it.
With all due respect, you sound like an idiot
15 hours ago, PenelopeWitherspoon said:I think 5 days in Paris, if you have been there before, is fine. But if it is your first time, I think that is not enough time. I would stay in Paris the whole time and take 2 or 3 day trips. Then you have more time in Paris, but get to see other things as well. Also, you lose time traveling.
With that being said, and something I did not know on my last trip, you HAVE to go to Notre Dame. And it now requires a reservation unless you want to wait in a massive queue (I chose not to knowing I would be back in Paris soon).
If you are doing Notre Dame, you should hit up Sainte Chapelle as well. There is a great restaurant right near Notre Dame (Les Deux Colombes) where I have whiled away a few hours with a bottle of wine.
For hotels, my go to is Le Roch Hotel & Spa in the 1st, though I want to stay in Hotel Marquis Faubourg Saint-Honore (in the 8th but just...right where Rue Saint-Honore flips from the 1st to the 8th) and Voltire (also on Rue St. Roch near the first hotel).
I have a lot of other recs, but I need to sit down with them.
PW knows of what PW speaks.
I’ve been to Paris twice, but those two visits were in the ‘90s. I am going again for a week starting this Saturday and I am contemplating adding a few days before I’m supposed to arrive on Saturday or after I’m supposed to leave next Saturday, because I am bouncing around Europe on a Eurail pass for a couple of months.
”5 Days in Paris is Enough”
🤌🤌🤌
Who is the budget Instagram influencer that you’re following who preaches that?
This trip I will definitely see:
•Versailles (I have done the gardens, but lack of planning and need to deposit a 💩 cut my visit early)
•Pompidou
•Musee d’Orsay (again)
•The Louvre (again)
•Wine tasting
•Chocolate tasting
•Escargot on the left bank (again)
•Panthéon
•Hôtel des Invalides (maybe)
•Roland Garros 🎾 (gift shop and/or tour)
•Sacre Coeur (again)
•Cemetery (that is over the top)
•Compare & Contrast Pain au Chocolate et Croissant
•Crépes avec Nutella
… and more.

The curfew is such bullshit, but quintessentially British
Went by the club last week (as posted on ATP/WTA thread and the grounds are TINY!The club is in the middle of a neighborhood with tons of small streets coming off of the two main roads by it that say
“NO PARKING / RESIDENTS ONLY”
And that was just for qualifiers. Parking is on grass somewhere in the golf course across one of the main roads borders and who knows how long after the last point does it take for drivers & ride share passengers to get out of the neighborhood.
The US Open & Australian Open are nowhere near residential areas and I think that the French Open is only semi-residential. Wimbledon’s practice courts back up to the back fences of houses.
It makes total sense that they would have a curfew/ stopping time.

It’s nice having your national team head coach interviewing for other jobs with 11 1/2 months to go before you host a World Cup.

Why would someone stay in shitty-ass northern Italy and eat amazing food and date sexy, but emotionally unstable when that person could move to central England and occasionally see the sun while counting on one hand how many sunny days they experience each month?

Sir Gareth joins the greats as football's seventh knighted manager
Chief football writer-
Published25 June 2025
Gareth Southgate added his name to an elite footballing list when the former England manager received his knighthood at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old, who stepped down from the England post after almost eight years following defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final, was awarded the honour for services to football.
Southgate's influence, however, stretched beyond the field of play as he became one of football's most respected figures.
He is only the seventh football manager to be given the honour.
Southgate joins the list of knights that also includes:
-
England's World Cup-winning manager Sir Alf Ramsey
-
Manchester United legends Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson
-
England, Barcelona, Newcastle and Ipswich great Sir Bobby Robson
-
Liverpool legend and Premier League-winning manager with Blackburn, Sir Kenny Dalglish
-
Sir Walter Winterbottom, England's first international manager, who led his country from 1946 to 1962
So what are the reflections now on Southgate's England tenure, and why has he been selected for the knighthood honour? You can let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
A nearly manager of a nearly team?…

If he can morph into a Brazilian-raised Rodrigo de Paul 🇦🇷, only without the tattoos, we could really be onto something.
RdP has more soccer savvy than our entire roster combined and the heart of a lion, especially when playing for his national team.
He’s a decent to strong player for Atletico Madrid, but he is an absolute god when running the midfield for Argentina. Johnny Futebol needs to learn both the leadership methods and the dark arts of RdP and he will be the first choice DM over anyone in our pool.

I hope that they don’t give up an recruit through the bell.

Perhaps that towel was their shared cum rag and things are going so well that it was time for a fresh towel.

I’m currently in Wales 🏴, so this hits close to home, except replace the “K”s with “LL”s and change every “U” to a “Y”.

Agyemang is a dream fit for a championship side.
I wonder if he can learn to be better with the ball. If his touch was like it was on his goal in the last game, he could be a force at a solidly built 6’4”.

Agreed. If it was played and an appropriately-sized stadium, all this talk about attendance is a non-issue.
If they were looking to only sell 20K tickets/game, they wouldn’t need to have the tournament in the USA every time. They could sell 50K to 60K in Mexico and bring in the same money with a much better atmosphere.

Excited to attend Wimbledon for first time end of next week. Worked out perfectly during our London trip this time.
How did you get your tickets?
I tried to buy just a Grounds Pass around the 10th (I think) and the entire tournament was sold out. (I think that tickets went on sale June 6th.
Nothing like the US Open. Also, the entire tournament grounds appear to have a footprint of about 1/3 of the U.S. Open. The grounds are tiny.

Was running late and had heaps of luggage (to sound Australian), but I stopped by the Wimbledon grounds yesterday to check out their Museum & Gift Shop.
(The qualifying is taking place across the street, or close by, so that the courts don’t get destroyed.)
Old People will recognize this doll.
Emma Raducanu’s US Open trophy. 🏆
Women’s undergarments over the years.
Everyone had a pair of this in my class in the 7th - 9th grade window (maybe stretched into 10th grade).
Trophies
In 2022, they apparently dumped the whole “Miss” part of the name and welcomed in a run of Slavs.
Djokovic’s run was stopped by Álcaraz.
Maybe clearer here.
The runs of Bjorg, McEnroe, and Becker with others sprinkled in.
Different angle.
Various keychains for £10 each in the shop. These tiny branded luggage tag & wallet/card holders on the top row were priced:

Source: Forest agree deal for Juventus' Weah, Mbangula

Nottingham Forest have set their sights on Juventusplayers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula to strengthen their squad this summer, a source has told ESPN.
A source tells ESPN that the English club have already reached an agreement with Juventus for both players for a total of around €22 million, but the move won't be finalized until they agree to personal terms with the two young players.
The source adds that Nottingham are trying to get approval from United States international Weah, 25, and Belgium's Mbangula, 21, in order to reach an agreement on personal terms, including salary and length of contract.
In addition to the potential signing of Weah and Mbangula, the source adds that Forest are also pursuing a center forward in the summer window.
The two players are currently in the U.S. playing with Juventus at the Club World Cup. Igor Tudor's side faces Manchester City in their last group match and are already assured of a spot in the round of 16.
Weah's participation in the Club World Cup ruled him out of contention to feature for the U.S. at the Gold Cup this summer. The Americans beat Haiti 2-1 on Sunday night to win their group and set up a quarterfinal match against Costa Rica on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Normally I prefer our players to stay away from the EPL, but Weah is strong, fast, and has good size. I think that he will do fine if he ever figures out his position.

Bublik is one of my favorite male players (even though he is Russian, has horrible tats, and dresses like a homeless man in most tournaments), and he is having quite a summer.
Bublik was the first player other than Carlos Álcaraz to beat Sinner in over a year, or so when he toppled Jannick in the quarterfinals to set up an all Russian Final Four.
Zverev (Russian born & raised in Germany) lost to Medvedev (Russian living in Monte Carlo), who now faces Bublik (Russian playing for Kazakhstan and “based” in Monte Carlo… I think) who beat Russian Karen Khachanov in 3 tight sets in a tournament (Halle?) in Germany.
Bublik’s skill set & unpredictability are a perfect match for grass, especially if he is serving well.
BUBLIK!My boy is on a roll!
He claimed at the French Open that tennis is absolutely NOT his number 1 priority. He puts time spent with his family at #1 and tennis is his job. His ranking dropped a bit, so he’s had to play more tournaments to bring his ranking back up and make up for lower prize money.
So he’s been playing a bit more and put together this run this week.
He’s a threat, though Best of 5 may wear him down.

Just got back. I get the Agyemang hate, I really do. But watching in person gave me a lot of perspective and how much of an absolute handful he is for central defenders to deal with. Haiti was a very large team in the back but they were on the ground all night.
Tillman is an absolute stud on defense. Should have had 2 more goals to go with it.
My initial thought on the goal conceded was Ream should not have played the ball. But watching the replay, yea, keeper effed up there.
If we finished our chips, this would have been a blowout. Hopefully better finishing to come in the knockouts.
Took the boy to his first game ever tonight so went for the good seats.
Overall, the crowd filled in pretty nicely for such a large stadium. I had way lower expectations.
1) Looks to be about 25,000.I was thinking 10,000 to 15,000 would show up.
2) You’re white?
