that’s not really some amazing deal.  skol is cheaper.

I was in Canada goose hunting maybe 10 years ago.  IIRC, a bottle of Yellowtail was around $40, and a case of beer was around $50.  All the liquor stores were owned by the state/country, and most of the taxes were for healthcare from what I was told.  Never looked in to it, so I could be wrong.  Also, our guide asked us to all bring 5 cans of Copenhagen snuff since it was $20 a can there.

2024 Masters: Hole-by-hole guide to Augusta National

    https://golfweek.usatoday.com/lists/2024-masters-hole-by-hole-guide-to-augusta-national/?n=@

The par-4 11th historically has been the toughest in relation to par, playing to a 4.303 average, while the par-5 13th is the easiest in relation to par, playing to a 4.775 average.

As is common, there have been changes to Augusta National since last year’s Masters. The layout will play to 7,555 yards this year after No. 2 was lengthened 10 yards, extending the downhill par 5 – the longest hole on the course – to 585 yards.

I see 1956 on that site was the high average per hole on a lot of holes.  I wonder if there was awful weather or just awful golfers.

Byron Murphy posted this on Instagram a few days ago. Look at the 10/22 sticker on the car. I hope that’s not his vehicle unless it’s an old pic.

OMG he may fall completely out of the draft to UDFA now.

Coupe of other thoughts on merchandise:

    1. The merchandise building is a little overwhelming.  You're going to be shopping with what feels like 5000 other people jammed in there with unlimited options on shirts, caps, sweatshirts and literally everything else you can think of.  Have a list of people with sizes you need to buy for.  You'll end up buying more, but make sure you have your must buy list with you.

    2. They have shirts hanging on hangers in the middle of each room and you'll be tempted to grab those for ease.  Don't.  Decide what shirt you want and then go to the counters where you'll get the same shirt but which is folded in a beautiful clear plastic Masters bag.  Much easier to pack and much nicer to give to friends/family than one on a hanger.

    3. They have mini merch stands around most of the concession areas on the course with limited selection of caps, flags, t-shirts and stuff like that.  If you forget somebody or, like me, decide "you know, I need another three caps and a couple of flags for the hell of it", they're very handy so you don't have to wait in line for the main merch building after you've been in there.

    4.  The line for the merchandise building is always long.  It's like a Disneyland line for a popular ride on a holiday weekend.  I wouldn't look at the line and say "we'll come back."  Get it over with.

Do they still offer the service of keeping your merch while you are on the grounds?  I used to do that, its way better than carrying it around the grounds.

Also, if they do, GO EARLY to get the merch.

I honestly don't understand almost every word in that post.  TIA?  Mark?  I used to read the Statesman but that was years ago.  About the last time we were really good at baseball.

    Thanks

25+ years of not winning the ANGC lottery - I swear I have a better chance for winning the next Powerball drawing than getting a non-disappointing email from the Masters Lottery folks.

Ive got them on the secondary market each time I have wanted to go.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. They could definitely do a better job of providing for former-players.

In what ways?  I do hear ex NFL players say the health insurance (fully vested of course) is excellent, they talk about doing those yearly full body scans, great medical/dental/prescriptions/etc. on top of whatever they earned for pension per the CBA. That has to be a top 1% deal for corporations for ex employees that can live an additional 70 years after retirement.

When I see these types of trucks I always think that they must REALLY hate how their truck rides. I mean it must jar the shit out of them with those tiny tires and lift kit. But they think it look cool at the truck contests at the local sonic drive in. Good for them I guess.

  9. NYR lost too. Stars are 1 point away from best record in the league. Anyone remember what happened last time the Stars won the President's Trophy?

    Won it all of course.

Also, I looked it up on wiki, and lol Boston getting the most points ever last year in the history of the prez cup at 135 points. Lolololollol

Most players are lucky if they have a career like Vontae Davis. Still, guys like that are but another cog in the big football machine. When their usefulness is up, they are cast aside and forgotten. It's fucking sad to think about.

The league sets aside over two BILLION dollars a year for NFL pensions, health insurance, etc.  Cast aside is not the term I would use to describe how the league treats retired players.
