    USMNT 2022

Our pussy mentality on the road has gotten much worse in recent qualifying cycles: 1998 6 out of 15 points (40%) 2002 5 out of 15 points (33%) 2006 7 out of 15 points (47%) 2010 7 out of 15 points (47%) 2014 7 out of 15 points (47%) 2018 3 out of 15 points (20%) 2022 6 out of 21 points (29%) It doesn't really matter going forward because of WC expansion, but the last two cycles preceding WC expansion were embarrassing. Finishing tied for 3rd (would have been 4th if VAR was in place for our game at Jamaica) when Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama were all down while we were in the prime of our "Golden Generation" is a joke.

Our away record in the last two cycles (9 out of 36 points) is absurd. A single win over one of the worst teams to ever reach the final round of CONCACAF qualifying.

Pot 2 placement gives us a chance to move on from the group stage. What is the GoD for the US? France, Poland and a weaker than usual Ghana (currently ranked 60th in the world)? Brazil, Senegal and Wales? You can come up with a relatively strong group but not a true GoD that includes the US. Pots 3 and 4 just don't contain teams that would yield a GoD. This team has significant issues at the back with FBs who are very inconsistent in their defending, GKs with glaring weaknesses and MLS CBs. In addition, we have a black hole at the 9, an inflexible and out of his depth manager and stars who are frequently injured. Round of 16 would be a major success for this group pending the draw.

Missed a sitter against Mexico and fouled out of the game tonight. He can put away pens though

Not sure what has been worse, steffen’s goalkeeping or pulisic’s set piece delivery

Steffen is horrible. 3rd string at this point

Really good result. Greggg got lineup and tactics pretty much spot on although this Mexican side doesn't impress me at all. Lots of talk about the Pefok miss which was a tougher chance than it looks at first glance but the more glaring miss was Pulisic's. He has to put that away. I kept thinking that Landon or Dempsey would have finished that. He is a key player for us but no longer THE guy. Beat Panama (horrible result for them) and we are in.

Looks like standard Aztecs absorb pressure and counter with the two 6s
  15. Casual college hoops fans (me included) forgot how awful the college officiating is once the tournament is over.

I have no idea what we are going to run out there tonight. This is arguably our last chance to win a meaningful WCQ in Azteca due to WC expansion so I would love to see us go for it. Knowing ggg I expect him to half ass it and he won't play a weak team or play his best team and instead will play some ineffectual mixture that doesn't achieve rest for Panama or a result in Azteca. We need to go full B or full A. I would go with the following: GK: Steffen or Horvath (I have no idea whether Steffen is 75% or 100%) RB: Yedlin CBs: Robinson and Zimmerman (many are expecting Long to replace Robinson) LB: Robinson 6: Adams (Obviously a big risk, but I want to go for it in Azteca. No McKennie or Adams is an L imo) 8s: Musah; DLT (bring in Gio if the game is in the balance in 2H) LW: Pulisic 9: Ferreira (I don't love this pick but he should have some confidence and I agree that Pefok is a more interesting option off the bench in this fixture.) RW: Weah I expect that ggg will go with the same back-4 but will start Long in place of Robinson. I'm expecting a MF of Acosta, Musah and DLT and a front 3 of Morris, Pepi and Weah.
  17. Day is a shockingly normal and down to earth guy given his position. His kids are assholes though. Urban is just a condescending dickhead who was in the perfect place at the perfect time at both Florida and Ohio State.

Which is why MLS has playoffs. MLS simply couldn't sustain the interest of the fanbase under a Euro model.

The FA ruined the EPL. They never should have allowed sales to foreign ownership. EPL teams are now almost universally owned by a laughable collection of the biggest cunts in the world.

Completely disagree. No one was giving Liverpool supporters the benefit of the doubt after Heysel and its fallout (the removal of English football from European competition for basically a decade). Frame by frame analysis of Hillsborough also wasn't really available in 1989. Heysel enabled both the coverup and the hostile media coverage.

Your self-righteousness falls a little flat when you post a laundry list of Liverpool's indiscretions without mentioning Heysel. No question. That said, you can understand how people jumped to conclusions at the time given the coverage of Hillsborough by the tabloids and the fact that Liverpool supporters murdered 39 people in stadium during the European Cup Final four years earlier.
