  1. Yard looked fine yesterday.Β  This morning, there is a black streak across the front yard.Β  Any idea what this is and/or what I can/should do about it?

  3. A new wrinkle has entered the chat:

    Quote

The BRICS bloc is considering several options in the design of an inter-member economic settlement system. In an interview with TV BRICS, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that the international bloc, integrated by Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia, was mulling the use of stablecoins and other digital currencies as part of this new payment network.

^ They don't specifically mention Tether, but it's the only big stablecoin outside of the USA's jurisdiction right now, so it's safe bet that it's the one they are considering.Β  It's a bit of a pivot as Russia had been talking (last year) about basing/anchoring a BRICS currency with gold.Β  Of course, they could be building their own stablecoin - even one anchored to gold instead of any national currency(ies).

I didn’t really understand why 31, 32, 33 were seemingly right next to each other but operated as independent separate entities.

    Spoiler

It wasn't explicitly explained.Β  The triad vaults were designed to be a breeding farm for the cryogenically frozen denizens of vault 31.Β  I can only guess that Budd designed it this way to have a backup vault if one of the vaults had a problem (which did actually happen in vault 32).Β  Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

So I've only played Fallout 1 and 2, and know some of the history, how much does playing Fallout 3 and 4 help with the show?

I don't think you really need to have played the games to enjoy the show (or to understand what's happening).Β  Having played the games does let you appreciate some of the details that they don't explain (call them easter eggs if you like), but nothing important.

  6. Watched episode 1 today.

    Spoiler

I laughed when cigarette smoking ruffian got impaled with the baby doll (leg sticking out of his chest) from the junk jet.Β  It was a quick scene near the end of the episode.Β  The junk jet was a special weapon in Fallout 4 that let you shoot any random trash (including teddy bears) you could find in the game at high speeds to obliterate enemies.

Also, happy they didn't try to spend any time really explaining or justifying how a stimpak shot magically heals a deep knife wound.Β  Just roll with it.Β  Video game logic.

  7. Re-readng the posts this morning and realize I needed to clarify a couple things...

I trust you I just wasn't clear why she did it

I don't know if anyone knows for sure all the reasons why she did it - the people who knew her IRL on HF didn't really share much on that issue and rightfully so.Β  I think everyone has their demons/battles that they struggle with in life.Β  Based upon what I saw at the time, I'm convinced that the online activity (and that post in particular) was a contributing factor (it seemed to me that the post was likely to have pushed her over the ledge that she was already very close to).Β  You never really know what people on the other side of the screen are going through.Β It's some sort of ingrained human ego thing to subconsciously assume that everyone else is just like yourself.Β  "If I can handle it, you should be able to as well".Β  Only that isn't always the case (and this is, to my mind, how the issue relates to Derka).

So they never knew who posted that? ...

This happened roughly 18 years ago now.Β  I don't remember the username of the one that authored the final bully post, but I do remember that it was not a name that was used on HF.Β  Most of the peeps on that alt site had chosen new names when they moved over from HF (much like some peeps did here in the move from Shaggy), so it wasn't clear who anyone really was.

Respectfully, you are wrong.Β  I read the damn post a few hours after it was posted.Β  The author had been trading barbs with her for some time before posting his/her magnum opus.Β  I may not remember every detail, but I'm not so senile as to forget what happened entirely.
