Watched the first episode of Warrior tonight. 1870's San Francisco Chinatown organized crime stuff. Has a bit of a Guy Ritchie feel like The Gentleman. Same showrunner as Banshee, so...

If you know anything at all about Bruce Lee's life, this show is like a window into his psyche/soul and it's clear that he was a pretty twisted dude.

  2. Veritaseum is a company that got some patents related to crypto trading.Β  It apparently tried to create a crypto token and trading platform and got slapped by the SEC several years ago (2017-2019 ish).Β  In 2022, they initiated a couple of lawsuits against Coinbase and Circle.Β  I'm not able to read any details on the proceedings on these cases from PACER or or similar websites.Β  I was hoping someone might give me an executive summary on what has or is happening here.Β  Chatter I read on X/Twitter says that Coinbase tried to get the patent(s) invalidated with the USPTO and failed and that litigation is still pending, but best I can tell from the link below, it looks like the Coinbase case was closed (maybe there is a different case still pending)?

  3. I went looking for some info on the scheduling for my next Battlebots fix.Β  Unfortunately, it looks like the schedule for 2024 has been delayed significantly:

In January 2023, BattleBots initially confirmed on their official website that they planned to film World Championship VIII in the summer of 2023 after the first wave of BattleBots: Destruct-A-Thon live shows. In Episode 52 of the Outside of the Box podcast, co-creator and producer Greg Munson originally stated that attention would begin gearing towards filming for World Championship VIII around May.[1] Trey Roski stated in a Skorpios Builder Blog episode that plans were to film in October 2023.[2]

However, filming will take place later than the previous season due to the need for Koval Lane, the street on which Caesars Palace is located, to be reworked ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix race on November 16-18, 2023. [3] At the Open Sauce event in July 2023, BattleBots co-founder Greg Munson confirmed that World Championship VIII would begin filming in early 2024.[4] The BattleBots website was then updated to reflect this.[5] Trey Roski set an estimated date of April 2024 for World Championship VIII filming in a November 2023 Skorpios Builder Blog episode, though the season has not yet been green-lit by Discovery.[2]

The Fight Night format and Top 32 Giant Nut bracket are both expected to return for World Championship VIII. Tickets are not yet available for the competition, and it is not yet known when applications will be accepted. It is currently unknown whether a third season of BattleBots: Champions will be filmed concurrently with World Championship VIII.

Battlebots official website still says TBD when you look for tickets to World Championship VIII, so they have not yet begun filming.Β  :(

β€œDips in #Bitcoin keep on getting shorter and shorter. Meanwhile, rallies are lasting longer and moving quicker,” said analysts for The Kobeissi Letter. β€œThis is a textbook sign that shorts are being squeezed as we hit fresh all-time high territory.”

Because of this, the analysts warned that Bitcoin may be setting up for a short squeeze.

β€œCurrently, the gap between institutional longs and hedge fund shorts is at a record high,” they said. β€œWhile hedge funds hold nearly 15,000 in net short contracts, institutions hold nearly 20,000 in net longs.”
    ...
Based on analysis from crypto market intelligence firm CryptoQuant, the pressure on shorts is likely to continue moving forward as the Bitcoin market continues to move closer to a liquidity crisis.

β€œBitcoin demand has soared to unprecedented levels this year. We estimate monthly Bitcoin demand has increased from 40K Bitcoin at the start of 2024 to 213K Bitcoin as of the time of publishing,” the firm said in its latest Weekly Crypto Report. β€œAn important factor behind this demand growth is ETF buying, but as of late other large investors have also increased their Bitcoin allocation.”

β€œOn the supply side of the equation, the total Bitcoin readily available for selling continues to decline,” they noted. β€œThe total β€˜visible’ amount of Bitcoin at key entities stands at 2.7 million Bitcoin, down from an all-time high of 3.5 million Bitcoin in March 2020.”

β€œRecord Bitcoin demand paired with declining sell-side liquidity has resulted in the liquid inventory of Bitcoin plunging to its lowest ever in terms of months of demand,” the report said. β€œWe estimate that the present Bitcoin sell-side liquidity inventory is only enough to cover the current rate of demand growth for six to twelve months. A declining liquid inventory would support higher prices.”

There is even less liquidity available when exchanges outside of the U.S. are excluded from the calculation.

β€œThe Bitcoin liquid inventory drops to six months of demand if we exclude the Bitcoin on exchanges outside the US,” the report said. β€œWe exclude these exchanges considering that US spot Bitcoin ETFs will only source Bitcoin from US entities.”

According to CryptoQuant founder and CEO Ki Young Ju, sell-side liquidity is now β€œmuch lower” than it has been historically relative to demand. ...
