  1. If Terry can get a win or two in the conference tournament, along with a win and at least a competitive loss in the NCAA round of 32, I'd call this season a par round with the roster holes he needed to fill, injuries, and unexpected holes that some of the new guys came in with unexpectedly (Abmas' inconsistency with the step-up in competition at times, Shedrick's back, and Horton's ugly performances). Weaver was a win, and Disu looked better than ever after returning from injury. Next year will be the true test for him. There have been flashes of very good scheme and play this year, but way too many minutes of WTF play on both ends. Next year looks like a roster full of young SGs and SFs... gonna need someone who can handle the ball and keep his cool under fire and a paint protector who can get some points on the offensive end as well. Hunter and Mitchell will probably choose to leave, but if they come back it's really a guess as to whether they bring inconsistency or seasoned leadership. He needs to show he is an A coach to deserve to stick around at Texas in my opinion and this season will probably be a B or B+, unless there's a crazy run in the Big Dance.
  2. He simply doesn’t have the ball handling and passing skills of a PG and his defense is poor… but when he is on the court the opposing D has to respect him which opens the floor even when he is not hitting shots
  3. Because we went from a 21 point lead to 13 points in just a few minutes and our team looks like it’s easing off on both ends
  4. Looks like a blowout sweep of the Sooners
  5. Nice lead with good offense but need to prevent the easy layups a bit better on defense and avoid relaxing too much on that end Abmas with another one of his career worse offensive days so far … and would prefer getting someone else some minutes beside Horton But definitely an A grade so far
  6. Good offensive movement, energy, and shot selection so far to start half 2
  7. Shitty shitty defense by the good guys
  8. So running a pick and roll with the guys Shedrick and Horton are covering should be gravy…
  9. Odd abmas deer in the headlights graphic
  10. With Disu's knee and Cunningham's thumb, we are basically a 6 man rotation that adds some 7th man minutes for Onyema. If we'd been able to get a couple other scholarship guys in for a few serious developmental minutes in prior games, we might have a little more to lean on. As it stands, Shedrick will need to be very good and Hunter and/or Horton will likely need a solid scoring game for us to prevail against OU. I am more confident in Shedrick (unless his back problems flare up) than Hunter and Horton. Abmas needs to play under control and look to pass rather than throw up the off-balance, half court shit if they choose to take him out of the game with double teams and press defense. He went from amazing to wtf when Disu went down in the last game. A lot of that was because Baylor decided to take him out and our offense devolved to him forcing up bad shots in the final 1/4 of the game.
  11. I could see beard jumping to Indiana if offered, being a Bobby knight protege
  12. It felt like we got out of our offense and starting forcing one on one stuff about the time Disu last came into play game. Lotta rushed poor shots by guys that should know better after disu’s injury and really bad weakside rotation and covering the rolling pick man when we aggressively hedged the ball handler … I doubt Terry told them to ease off. They panicked when Disu went out (despite doing okay without him for long stretches) and played lazier / sloppier 2 dumber ball on both ends the second half … Refs also seemed to get whistle happy on one end of the court
  13. Horton ain’t gonna rotate … he might roll over in neutral sometime later tonight but fuck breaking a sweat on defense… best keep Shedrick back on his man
  14. Horton plays like he is 1 touch from fouling out all the time.
  15. Number 15 has both hands on people pushing on defense
  16. Weaver need not leave the floor except for exhaustion or foul trouble
  17. Probably 2 … maybe 3 if he has a third year of eligibility
  18. wears the sponsor shoes nobody else wants to be seen in?
  19. Horton looks like he joined the team this morning … he frequently appears to have no idea where he is supposed to be on both ends of the court and often gets in the way of teammates
  20. Energy looks okay… but playing way too sloppy for game 29 against a bottom dwelling opponent … rarely used lineup on the court currently … Disu, Shed, weaver, Brock and Hunter
  21. Sometimes it's impossible to pinpoint if a player has been coached up and is simply fucking up and/or not following the plan, or whether the player is confused/doesn't know how to do something right due to subpar coaching. What is evident with this team is that it has shown the ability to play great some games and play embarrassingly poor basket ball during other games. Sometimes the team looks like a sweet 16 team and others it looks like a first round NIT loser over the course of the same game. The inconsistency represents a significant weaknesses in confidence, focus, conditioning, reacting on the fly, play-calling, fundamentals, etc... all of which suggest shortcomings by the coaching staff in scheming, motivation, substitution patterns, and practice repetition. Every coach has his weaknesses. Perhaps this team would be a few wins better if Terry's assistants were stronger at things he is not that great at. Perhaps he is a bell curve coach at best.
  22. That’s WAS a foul on Issacs
