  1. Everything!
  2. That was a strike
  3. I wanted Toppin but I’ll settle for a couple of large bodies who are active on the boards and can keep opponents honest in the paint. If we don’t get at least one 6’9” ish guy who can do some lunchpail work we are going to get roughed up in close games where timely rebounding, altering an interior shot, and/or a couple putback buckets will be the deciding factor We don’t really need a big who leads the team in scoring (though it could make us a solid second weekend tourney candidate) but we damn well need one who is not 180 lbs and in love with the 3 point line
  4. She kind of reminds me of a female Trae Young (albeit with a better long-range shooting percentage). I like her motor, passing and aggressiveness. I am not a fan of her soft defense and tendency to complain so much to refs. She's going to get her shots up and her team will live and die by that. Right now, she's in deep water acclimating to the athleticism and physicality of defenders. Perhaps once she gets more comfortable with teammates, her turnovers will drop and she can take advantage of overly aggressive defenders. Right now, she is forcing things that worked in high school and college with forgettable performances. She's definitely WNBA material (based on my very limited firsthand observations of WNBA games), but the press needs to take its foot off the praise gas a bit as that's doing her no favors with her peers.
  5. In other news, the primary big we are targeting in the portal (JT Toppin) just had a good showing in a scrimmage at yesterday's NBA combine. Looks like he could play himself into the 2nd round so it will come down to how bad he wants to play in the NBA versus NIL and the chance of improving his stock.
  6. Toppin and the Utah big would be a good big man haul. Toppin and the Turkish guy from UCLA (who didn't exactly have an impressive year) would fine as long as the later doesn't shy away from crashing the boards and can provide a little interior defense. I read that we might also be kicking the tires on Trevon Brazile. If that's true, he could provide some instant familiarity/chemistry with Mark and great PF/C flexibility. I admittedly have no idea if any of these guys have character red flags.
  7. Both those guys would add some good depth and competition … but if it’s just one I’ll take the NM guy
  8. next year versus UCONN in Austin should provide a good coaching barometer/comparison since both Hurley and Terry will be retooling most of their rosters.
  9. Owens and Arch look a lot more serious and tuned in than Ewers did … Ewers is a quiet guy who can be mistaken as nonchalant at times but today he didn’t look like the clear starter at QB
  10. What about the possibility the kid got cold feet, flaked or demanded some crazy NIL? Kids change their mind… especially with money in the equation and people in their ears
  11. Scott never stepped on campus, unlike Tyson Chris Johnson may be a better comparison
  12. Saw this guy playing on ESPN+ a few games... He's a fast aggressive rebounder with a great vertical. I'd take him in a heartbeat, though he's not gonna carry a large load on offense.
  13. I'd take him if he's not playing the point and is a good team chemistry/glue guy. That said, we still need a solid rim protector (or two) and primary ball handler type (and backup PG if Hunter is gone). Regardless of who comes in through the portal, I hope we avoid the "you're the man... go make something happen" offense we ran too often with Abmas.
  14. Newton, Castle/Samson Johnson, Karaban/Clingan ... It's hard to say from this group. Each, with good health and adaptation to the NBA game could play roles in the league for several years. Edey might could be a back-up bench big for several years if he stays in good shape and good health.
  15. I'd be okay with both Mitchell and Hunter on the roster next year if they chose to return. That said, they are definitely role players who need to be off the court when they are not meeting expectations. Mitchell is good defender and rebounder, but he simply can't keep a defense honest if he's not under the basket. Hunter is a short two guard who can defend and cover the point for short spurts when he's not having one of his WTF nights. He's kind of what RT wanted Horton to be this year. When he's asked to be an offensive focal point of primary ball handler he folds more oft than not. Both would be fine on the team next year with short leashes when they disappear on the court.
  16. I was scratching my head as to why he wasn't getting any minutes to build some experience. If he was goose-egging on the school attendance part of the job, I guess I understand why now. It doesn't take much for an athlete to get a passing GPA in "undecided" with all the tutors and hand-holders provided.
  17. They'd be good depth and can certainly fill a few roles, but agree their roles do not include offensive consistency (nor great ball handling for their respective positions). Both are plus defenders who can start next year if the roster is rounded out with some shooters/scorers. Both can have a double digit scoring game a good 30-50 percent of the time. Both have their holes. With them on the team next year, we will still need 3-4 more guys who can consistently get a good shot off and have the potential to more often than not get 12-17 points a game.
  18. depth, maturity and experience in the "system" is always a plus. System refining/upgrading and player growth will be needed for sure.
  19. I get the unpredictability with portal transfers. The couch can account for everything in that respect. Seasoned guys having meltdowns (like Hunter with the turnovers against Tennessee, and Max taking bad quick shots when he should know better) might also not be on the coach as much as we think. However, substitutions patterns and line-ups is ALL on the coach in my opinion and their were times this year when Rodney did not have his best available 5 on the court when he needed them on the court. Even the coach's favorites need to sit if they are doing crazy stuff, even if it's just long enough to relax and be reeducated on the gameplan.
  20. Nope. Earlier in the season he tried some post-up spin moves with his back to the basket on the baseline and drives with sort pull-ups, but he often didn't even draw iron. After that he completely quit shooting anything that wasn't a dunk or put back and teams knew they could loosely cover him with their worst defender.
  21. That abmas off balance three pointer with 20 seconds left rather than a drive and attempt to draw a foul was piss poor play calling or pure shit if the 5th year player decided to ad lib there … either way stupidity
  22. The lithium finally taking efffect?
  23. Ball handling, floor generalship and interior presence are my wish list
  24. Those made me cry after seeing weaver D’Ing him up and getting pulled with plenty of gas in the tank
