  1. If RT has a system, it’s too loose and iso reliant to survive a high stakes game. His guys make repetitive bad decisions and mistakes and not clamping down on the repetitious shit is on the coach.
  2. Too often when it gets close or the team needs to run a play and get a good look or foul call, too many of our guys panic and shoot a doublecovered, off-balance 3. Poor discipline/game iq.
  3. Low percentage alley oop pass and two quick, well covered, low iq 3 pointers … this is shitty, lazy, unmotivated group of individuals tonight … no team play in sight
  4. That’s all on Rodney … a gift to the Arkansas defense… he should know better unless Johnson, kaluma and pope are in foul trouble or injured
  5. Weaver is a keeper and can/should get meaningful minutes, regardless of Pryor's ascent. Just don't force him for long minutes into line-ups with limited scoring options. The team has looked a lot better in the past few games. That said, we are still somewhat basic in offensive sets and glaringly weak/inconsistent at center with defense and rebounding and that will be exploited by a good coach if we make the tournament and play against decent, physical, big men. Assuming we keep improving and even get enough wins to make it into the tournament, we could win 1 or maybe even 2 games with good matchups if Shedrick does his job on the boards and 3 of the Johnson/Kaluma/Pope/Mark group play well and make enough shots to cover our defensive woes. I'm not convinced yet that we can deal with a good coach that lures Shed out of the paint to cover a man on defense and attacks the paint with size and offensive rebounding. That said, Pryor has been a nice find recently with interior help defense and rebounding. Maybe with him and Kaluma, we have turned a corner on allowing a ton of layups a game.
  6. Pryor has looked damn good the past couple games … needs more minutes
  7. Top 3 in Free Throw defense! Damn Right!
  8. guaranteed big NIL and starter / star role with no restrictions on shot selection.
  9. Onyema deserves to start unless he falls flat and Shed flips the switch on
  10. Can’t effectively contest the 3 or prevent the easy layup … defense looks like it’s junior high AAU level
  11. And following that on offense we planned or allowed Johnson to take an off balance double teamed 3 pointer with just under a minute left to seal the loss … frustrating If our coaching in crunch time is to let Johnson make something difficult happen, we need to scrap the coaching staff at seasons end … if Johnson is add libbing and not running plays, he needs a strong dose of the hard coaching rather than the have fun and be yourself variety
  12. Good god horns, gotta contest the fucking layups on defense…
  13. Is his recovery from surgery in time to practice a high likelihood?
  14. I think Terry needs to go to the Chris Beard summer coaching seminar where they cover defensive fundamentals. As for offense, we run simplified pick and roll and iso sets that don't work very well in crunch time when we need a decent look at the basket. It's confounding that he cannot implement some effective options for guys to pop open when Johnson is getting double-teamed ... perhaps he's trying and Johnson isn't running what they want. Shed and Onyema are not earning their NIL. Time to give Kent and our freshman bigs (Codie and Vinson?) more minutes. Johnson needs some tough coaching about shot selection, game management, and technique and effort on defense.
  15. We are in love with the long shot at the moment … gotta get to the rims and maybe draw some fouls to mix it up
  16. Pope just cooked that long sleeve wearing booger eating aggie kid
  17. it's nice to have the three point weapon for a change, but we need to continue work on moving to ball to get better looks on those and taking advantage of drives and drop offs to the rolling man when the threes are being overplayed on defense by opponents.
  18. Johnson is hitting some difficult shots which is nice I guess for locking in a win against a cupcake, but I was hoping to see more the style of off ball movement and screening with lots of ball movement that we’ve seen the past few games in his absence …. It’s been a lot of 4 out with one guy trying isolation instead when Johnson’s on the floor. Johnson is a highly skilled player, but he’s young and needs some reminding about the hard shots being there at the end of the shot clock if we need one after trying to get an higher percentage open look first. Not seeing any meaningful minutes for Codie or Pryor who have earned more work in these types of games. I guess Kent needs their minutes to get back on the court. Maybe we’re just keeping it basic so as not to give the upcoming conference opponents too much to scout. Overall we’ve looked better since the UConn as whopping (granted against shittier competition)… interested to see how they show against the Aggies in a few days
  19. I’m liking Codie
  20. He was a little dinged up vs UCONN so they’re getting him extra rest while we play a couple of these creampuffs on the schedule
  21. Yes you did. [emoji1598]
  22. With the interior defense and rebounding void we have, making the tournament would be a victory. That said, roster building is on the coach. We didn't need an all conference center or power forward, just a couple guys that could come in and do the dirty work. Instead we are a team of large guards/small forwards. I am somewhat optimistic about our point play improving, but our center play is dreadful and will spell our doom when we get into the SEC games, absent some unanticipated, sudden improvement.
  23. I got no big complaints about this game since the team did what it needed to and got lots of playing time for guys that hadn’t scored nor played much this year … good scrimmage … I’d prefer this game much earlier in the season and a real challenge this close before conference starts but it is what it is. They seemed pretty unselfish without Johnson on the court and it looked good (granted against a weak ass team)
  24. Definitely a game where we can try to get some of our spot role players some minutes early to see if they can contribute during the conference gauntlet
