Where is the best place to eat downtown before an Astros game? Firm I invest some dough with is taking me and have asked my preference.

$$$ isn’t an object. They from Chicago so don’t know the town and I’m a suburbs idiot now.

Is Irma’s southwest still a thing? Vic and Anthony’s ? Those used to be my go to when I still worked but it’s been a decade. Anything hip and trendy? I’ll be with some 20 something dudes so I’m sure they’d appreciate a little Houston eye candy. Thanks .

    Can't go wrong with V & A

Not sure what the scene is like pre-Astros game, but Xochi is there in the Marriott Marquis.  It's great for interior Mexican (not tex mex)

  2. All this purse talk reminds me...

We're dog people and foster a bunch of dogs until they get adopted.

We usually sequester them in the kitchen.

Wife comes home and puts one of her expensive purses on the kitchen table.  Of course leaves the strap dangling off the table.

Foster pup, chews through the strap.

Next day, different expensive purse....same thing, except dog pulled the whole thing down and is gnawing on the corner.

Why so much bile vented on Taafe, Haines, and Gideon? Is it because they are all white? That’s some pathetic bitching.

These guys made good plays and bad, just like everyone else. They were the starters for a reason - the alternatives sucked. It’s the JAGs below them on the depth chart that should be the focus of your scorn.

    Wait one.

    I forgot this was Surly.

    Carry on.

  4. Pit Room is good.  Top 5 in Houston and since we live a few blocks away it's really the only spot we go to when wanting BBQ

Don't sleep on the chicken there.

ESPN came out with top 10 returning secondary players in the nation and Makuba Mukuba was on the list. Not a guarantee he is 1st or 2nd day player, but likely a draft pick. Personally, I will root for Makuba Mukuba to take Taaffe's job. I believe Makuba Mukuba offers athleticism and versatility at safety beyond Taaffe's abilities. We will see how it works out. Either way this is not an issue like guard 2 years ago or Edge under Sark the first 2 years. These are 2 viable options. This isnt going to result in Ben Davis starting.

    Anyone been to coastline ?

an annoying blonde mild friend of mine goes and can’t stop blabbing about the place. I dont trust her review

Chris Shepherd just did a thing on his "eat like a local" show on Saturday morning.

    Looked pretty good.

Also hit up Gold Tooth Tony's for Detroit style and Romano's for NY.

In other Pizza news : Apparently Magdalena's, opened by former DiMarco/Dolce Vita GM...has a lot of the same items as Dolce Vita.  We were regulars at DV and need to go get our Tallegio pizza fix stat.

  7. Mid-week show at HoB in Houston...gonna suck, but has to be done.

Saving grace is I know they will play loud enough to drown out all the talkers.

  8. Who goes to shot bars other than college kids?

I mean, other than VY and his buds..

Side Note...Me and my friends got kicked out of Hot Shots on 6th st on $.25 shot night. We set up shop at the bar and lined up a bunch of quarters...

  9. I can't remember a coach that is as universally hated than this chick.

Who do y'all think is the male equivalent to her in basketball or football?

Bob Knight was a huge asshole, but still kind of likable for whatever reason.

    Coach K?

I know Scott Drew is persona non grata here, but do random CBB fans hate him?  I doubt it.

  10. Blood Bros in Houston does a bunch of asian inspired stuff.  Changes daily

    Thai sticky/spicy ribs

    Different banh mi

    Fried Rices etc

    Smoked Brisket Loco Moco

Red Lion slammed and went hard for lunch today. I ordered Tikka Masala extra spicy. Had a little kick and some nice richness. Huge portion for $18. Went down well with a couple London Pride pints.

    Nice.

Might try to head over this weekend.

Just started the new season of Somebody Feed Phil, and the 1st episode is in Mumbai.

    🤤
