  1. Wife brought some home from a co-worker of hers.

She used Pepperidge Farm Chessman butter cookies instead of vanilla wafers.  It was fucking awesome.

    Go baseball team!

I’m old school and a former TXHSFB Official, so it’s just my opinion. The new playoff system over the previous decade with two divisions in each class is asinine and redundant. I’ll preface my opinion as an actual player in the ‘80s, whose 7-3 team didn’t make the playoffs.

Seeing 5-5, 6-5, or worse make the playoffs annually is baffling to the mind, as what did they prove/deserve? The first round of playoffs are currently a joke! From 5-A down, I totally agree to get rid of the multiple divisions.

    Hook’em!!!

My alma mater made the playoffs at 3-8, Yay!

    It's dumb

There needs to be a win minimum, like bowl eligibility.

  3. Jesus, what a clown.

Luck ( completion % of 54.1 and 3x as many picks) was throwing to guys like Reggie Wayne and TY Hilton. He also threw the ball 600 times...100 more attempts than Stroud.

Roethlisberger ( 1500 yards less passing and 2x as many picks) had Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward, Antwan Randle-El and Plaxico...not to mention one of, if not THE best defenses in the league.

As someone who spent my last 2 years in the Navy at Mare Island and living in Vallejo I am not surprised at all about how incompetent the police were. That town is such a fucking shithole. We always referred to it as "the armpit of the bay area".

My one interaction with the police there was bad. I called to report a crime, they said they would send someone over. They never did. I called again the next day and they said they were sorry but there was a large robbery/hostage situation at the safeway down the street so they couldn't make it over and they would try to be there soon. Called a few days later and they said they talked to the DA and they didn't feel the crime was worth doing anything about so sorry were not going to pursue this.

It closed as a Navy Base/Shipyard not long after I left in 1995. I did drop by on the way to Tahoe from SF a few years ago. Most of the buildings I was familiar with are gone. Somewhat bizarre to me that they built houses there, that place was an industrial wasteland. Was pretty funny seeing the bridge and other familiar places in the show.

    What was the crime?

    Re: American Nightmare....

Also, it blows we away at how inept some PD's are.  You see it all the time on Dateline/20/20 type shows.

It's usually some idiot detective saying "we only care about the truth" when that's not the case at all.

I'm glad those folks sued the shit out of them and won.  Good for them.

I'm digging it so far. Liking the callbacks to season 1. Interested to see how Rust Cohle's ghost dad plays into this. The Tuttle connection could be interesting. I'm not hating any of the characters too much. Jodi Foster has been great. I'm excited. It's been much better than the first few episodes of the last two seasons.

    This.

I watched all of them with Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell..this is more intriguing based on the first 2 episodes.

The frozen dude gave me "sloth" from Se7en vibes.

  6. Had some gumbo at a friends house on Monday.

I'm not one to bag on another's cooking, especially as a host...but this was terrible.

    He's from Louisiana too.

No veggies, no seasoning, no spice.

Basically just a flavorless roux/broth with sausage.

    Is this a thing?

Last time he made it, he served it with potato salad, which I know is a thing for certain areas of LA, but the gumbo itself was not good.

  7. Beautiful song about an absolutely horrifying subject.

Cartel killing in Mexico told from the point of view of a woman/wife/mother that's about to be killed along with the rest of her family.

Jerry Joseph is one of my favorite song writers that probably only a handful of y'all have heard of.

He visually transports you to that villa that day.  It's something else.
