"First time in history?" Come on. Over 50% of our 2019 class (ranked #3 in the country at the time) came from OOS, and it was a complete disaster. Guys like Jake Smith, Watson, Washington, Adimora, Liebrock, etc. that all had ironclad offer lists and were wanted by many of the big programs. No one's 'obsessed' with in-state recruits, but the fact is that OOS guys are generally tougher and riskier evals. The TXHSFB coaching connections aren't there, there's less familiarity, and there's always the risk that influences from home pull them back (see McCoy and Smith), now magnified by the portal. A class where the blue-chip signees are mostly from OOS and the lower-ranked signees are from in-state carries a lot of risk despite looking good on paper. The fact that we signed so few of the top in-state recruits in the 2019 class was a significant factor in its failure.
There is a difference though. They had to go out of state in 2019 because Herman had alienated the majority of players/coaches in the state. Then he continued to suck ass at evaluations....

All due respect, but this may be the single worst recruiting take I've seen since I've been on this board.

How do you trend a head coach that has been a head coach for one year? And how do you come away with the idea that his program is due to improve?
Simple:
1) Said head coach has been pumped up by the media as the next sure thing head coach.
2) Said coach is at a blue blood program where you can't possibly struggle to win games. (See our media pumping for the last decade)
3. Said coach and school have a good relationship with national media.
Cake is baked.

“Confirmed?” That’s doing a lot of work in this post.
Gerry posted about LSU being basically out of the Simmons hunt in close succession to him posting about Simmons being very astute and able to catch coaches lying to him...confirmed may be a strong word....but...

Love the LSU belief they are still in it for Simmons. It's been confirmed he caught Kelley lying to him and they're basically done.

After reading the LSU whiningcthis week, i fully expect if i ever wondered onto a Bama or GA board they would be bemoaning schools buying players and talking about how hard it is to find good wholesome team guys who just love to play football and aren't all about money.....

What’s the song still playing on your page? I’m like 95% sure mine is either “hey there Delilah” or “purple stuff” by Big Moe (RIP). I’m pretty eclectic

I do love the if we win 10 games recruiting will be rolling logic....
Time and time again it has played out and been shown that success the season leading up to signing day has little impact on recruiting unless you've had sustained success in previous years.

Per TFB so not sure how accurate. Rubell filmed a commitment video to ohio state when he was there and gave them a silent commitment...then he visited Texas and the staff got pissed about it and told him to fuck off. The pick saturday will be texas
TFB also had him as locked a done deal to Michigan 18 hours ago, so let's not quite regard them as gospel on this particular recruitment.

Oh right, like with Payton Kirkland.
Yeah that one went out way, but there have been plenty of recruits this board has convinced itself in the last 24 hours that we had a shot at flipping that ended up being nowhere close.

Ok....may be wrong but after looking around....I think the Michigan fans are falling into the last minute trap of someone committing to your team out of nowhere at the last minute we occasionally fall into.....I may be wrong but I don't think he's going to Michigan.

TFB can be really hit or miss depending on their source of info on recruits...but then Nahlin gonna Nahlin.... so who knows
