Other schools are allowed to come in over the top on NIL too. And I’m all for Texas adhering to budget discipline, particularly with this long left to go in the cycle.

I don't doubt that, but it seems like a weird play for Michigan on a recruitment they weren't getting anywhere with. Who knows maybe they're just that desperate at safety.

  2. I know "new shit can come to light" and all that, but everything out there is JJR to Texas and it's not even close....

Maybe he goes Michigan, no idea but that would be weird coming out of last weekend and everything predicting Texas.

Heck the michigan recruiting coverage was basically waving the white flag on JJR before his visit here.

No, I’m sorry but you are giving that dolt way too much credit. He has no connections inside the program. He’s simply looking at Cupp and Wilson transferring from A&M, some db whose name I can’t even recall transferring from Texas, Spencer signing with Tech after being processed by Texas, plus whatever Hudson is doing now, and trying to formulate some larger narrative.

That schmendrick castigated his own followers this spring for giving credence to the notion that BMDs have a say in determining whether coaches are retained or let go. He went on to state that Tech didn’t really need BMDs and their meddlesome ways at all…the AD could get by on small donations alone. “You don’t want to become Texas” he said, describing it as the most inept athletic department in the nation..

Same guy told everyone on the internet that Chris Beard would never leave Tech for his alma mater because he “bleeds Lubbock” and Austin wouldn’t suit him (probably right on that bit)…less than a week later, the McDonald’s meeting took place. Not to belabor the point, but this year he also claimed that Mark Adams, the guy who hadn’t sniffed a D1 head coaching job since the 90s, was an “elite culture-builder” and “one of the greatest bball minds in the entire sport.” He called Gavin Kash’s final AB vs Texas this year “as close to an actual life-or-death situation as humanly possible.” I couldn’t make this shit up if I tried.

So, while the message may resonate with what has been reported here, nobody on the inside is talking to that dude about messaging or anything else. Most Tech fans despise him. He’s a fat fucking moron who makes Ketch look like a totally photogenic, respectable journalist.

Not to argue with you, and I don't know anything about Tech to do so.....but that all kind of sounds on message for the kind of idiocy McGuire likes to promote.....

Wow they got legacy Jack Anderson, said the world was changing, the world did not change, they got legacy Micah Hudson, said the world was changing...

They beat us in the lowest percentage upset of the year, and that's awesome, they played their odds right and won, shit I hate gambling and even I've been there.

But they win a recruit based on their clearly well-run alumni network and act like regular kids want to go to Lubbock when they have options. And it's just not true.

They're in a great spot for the little Big 12, they might grab some middle ranked recruits that want to be superstars in a nationally televised game against Cincinnati, but long term for the national recruits it's just not there. And I'll be cheering for Skyline chili against uncooked tortillas every time.

Don't go aggie on us and start calling it the Little Big 12.....

Part of the problem is that the guys who have been historically good at the evaluations aren’t involved with them anymore. They’re higher up in the orgs or just not interested in the tedious nature of how the rankings are crafted and updated.

I can tell you for a fact that more than a third of the top 250 for On3 would be removed by guys that used to do it, to say nothing of the rivals and 247 stuff. ESPN lost their workhorse and their stuff has turned to absolute shit.

One other thing that I have been reluctant to post about has been happening since Herman flamed out. The stigma with Texas’ class rankings versus the NFL production has become a widely spread problem in the space. That seeps into how Texas locks and leans are viewed early and how things get ranked later. In other words, if you rank Texas guys well, you’re going to look like an idiot later. Until that narrative turns due to performance, you really are going to see some downside weirdness. The whole moving down of Arch Manning thing in the last cycle played into this.

I know that sounds conspiracy level on its surface, but consider the human psychology of it and also assume that I’ve been told multiple anecdotes associated to this. It also makes the aggie belief in On3 being a “sip run organization” comical.

I figured that on the evaluators moving up into other roles.  Just the dweebs that seem to cover recruiting outside of Gerry just leave me shocked.

Also while I can't blame them for having a stigma about rating Texas players highly,  then again they are also the idiots that went along with Tyler Owen's being a 5 star....

Somebody upthread mentioned how "we'll see if Sark's 3-star specials turn out to succeed at a better rate than any of his predecessors"  or something similar. Here's what's different about nowadays: there's just so much more information available to the coaches now. Mack would see somebody in one of his camps and offer based on that. Now there's a whole apparatus whose job it is to sift though data, to make phone calls about players, to talk to coaches, to research their personalities, to watch them in camp videos and then to break those videos down analytically etc ... I bet we'll see that, percentagewise, a great many of Sark's 3-star specials turn out to be diamonds.

I would also argue the recruiting services are worse on their evals/rankings.

I don't know if it's sheer volume, emphasis placed on camps, laziness, the number of jock sniffing dorks that know Jack about football anyway, or the stupid arbitrary manner some of them spread their rankings out to make sure there are good players in all states.

Are there fewer under the radar diamonds in the rough? Sure.  But I don't think the Evals by the services are as good as they initially were 15-20 years ago.

  7. I love the 12man foundation isn't associated with the university stuff. I just don't know how much scrutiny that would Bear up to.

-The building is on university property.

-They are the primary(maybe only) direct source for aggie sporting event tickets.

-They are directly associated in so many ways its ridiculous.

The paperwork may say independent organization, but they certainly don't operate in that manner.

Any sane man would factor in wealth among the most desirable characteristics of a woman with a net worth of $500 million. All I can think is, "I can't imagine how much useless shit this broad must own."

Why is that a factor though?  99% of surliers wouldn't get the time of day from Kendra Scott....then the 1% that she would give the time of day to would totally have blown it after her 45 seconds in heaven experience with them.  You ain't getting any child support for sleeping with her? That 500 mill is inconsequential to the process.

Kendra Scott is plenty hot and worth mid 9 figures. If you wouldn’t leave your wife and children for her you’re either Jack Easterby or your last name is Walton.

Ok WilliamFromLakeTravis I'll allow she's plenty hot and in my single years I'd of been more than willing.  But I ain't leaving my wife and kids for nobody.

For that scenario to be true, the sequence of events doesn't make sense.... talkiebird calls zwerneman, instant presser convened with bjork, WITHOUT the agreement of the league cigars

aggy broke the news before the rest of league was ready to do so

the reveal of a move of this magnitude is carefully orchestrated

in addition, for 72 hours, from wednesday until 1045am saturday morning, looch had the troops gathering for a runaway scrape destination birmingham

if bjork was sacrificial and sharpe wasn't throwing a hissy-fit, the pitchforks and torches would not have been on the march for almost 3 days

The pitchfork and torches were on the move to give sharp and company cover.  Bjork didn't know squat but Sharp did.  The fact that Bjork was the front man on A&Ms response tells me that.  For all I know the leak to Zwinnerman came from Sharp.  Sharp is perfectly capable of throwing public hissy fits.  The fact that he kept his mouth shut and let Bjork be the face of it tells me he knew.

Apologies for the further derail, but I thought SFA was prominently part of the state forest service.

No TFS is under A&M as part of the Extension Program umbrella and it's why A&M is technically responsible for all disaster response in the state sense 2012 budget cuts when the legislature basically eliminated funding for TFS as and entity and rolled them into the Extension/engineering/and research programs.

Technically it's name is now Texas A&M Forest Service.
