honestly, for someone that struggles to keep up with the minutia of college football these days - incredible breakdown of the 2024 roster and season, i remain a fucking savant.
and if there is any hope to be found in our fandom, it appears that despite the 2022 recruiting class implosion and subsequent buyout that people are still writing checks, which is quite obviously a necessity in the current landscape of the sport, and there is hope that elko has the ability to be a wiser ceo than his predecessor. he's clearly targeting a quite different type of kid than jimbo was, we'll see if any of this works out.
the irony in elko being an intelligent, defense-minded guy is that he absolutely shit himself repeatedly with his in-game decision making the 2nd half of last year - was he trying to overcompensate for various roster failings year one, felt the need to be more aggressive than who he really is, felt the pressure in the texas game, etc, or is this who he is as head coach? no idea - i'm too tired to spend much time on it outside of watching the games, but i am quite fascinated to watch us play this year.
