So basically back to what it's been since the beginning of time? I do not think 1 player in what, 15 years constitutes a "pipeline" to aTm. So one guy to zero guys.

this is eric crutchfield slander and i don't appreciate it.

What do you expect when your entire conference plays at least one FCS team every year. Replace those 14 wins with a SEC opponent and things change a lot for your conference.

Colorado, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina all have 1st or 2nd year head coaches.

there are legitimate conversations to be made about non-conference scheduling and i think most athletic departments could do better here.

as far as conference strength arguments, it's meaningless tripe - admittedly much of which flows from sec homerism - but what it generally reveals is people that do nothing but watch their own conference, or in many cases only their own team and pay no attention to the rest of college football. as to your point above about 1st or 2nd year head coaches . . . great? so does texas. doesn't have much to do with the roster.

It's a good thing your schedule is a shit fest. The SEC West is down big time, even Bama may struggle in some games, as I just don't see O'Brien being successful there. Colorado likely sucks, and your 3 other OOC games is a fucking joke.

yes, i know, every team on every schedule sucks, etc. even bama. incredibly productive argument as always.

and leal may be a top 10 guy after this year if he stays healthy. he's a freak.

    Here’s one for you:

One of the things the aggies and Fisher’s corrupt-as-fuck ass are doing during the dead period is quietly hosting recruits out at his ranch off campus. Don’t want to do a student visit? No sweat. Fuck the dead period and the rules, come hang out with coach off-site, on the QT and the hush-hush.

I hope Sarkisian is doing the same somewhere on Lake Travis.

Fortunately, not everyone has their hand out looking for literal bags of money to be dropped on their doorstep out of the trunk of D Craig's suped-up Monte Carlo.

    i see nothing shady here.

and i don't remember a time in my life where a&m and texas had this many capable recruiters on each staff who knew how the games were played. both schools have had their moments, but: jimbo, dameyune craig, tommie robinson, james coley, sark, jeff banks, bo davis, stan drayton all in the same state going after a handful of the same guys?

lots of churches about to get new elementary school wings.

Jimbo and his counterproductive love of dual-threat QBs...

i somewhat agree with this . . . but damn weigman has some tools and his highlights are fun to watch. elevated a program that hasn't done much lately either.

    low floor, crazy ceiling.

Only one highly likely loss but Missouri, Ole Miss, LSU, and Auburn are all very loseable. Heck, if Leach gets his shit together he's always got a punchers chance too.

I also don't understand why Aggy is being ranked so high for next year. They just lost their QB and 4/5 of their OL, most of which is being replaced by Freshmen. Also a few key pieces of their front 7. Those 3 areas were their biggest strengths

because jimbo has always had a plug and play offense, pay attention

I absolutely agree that he is a football player and could play several spots but have you seen Banks as a SR? He's a good 35+ pounds heavier than Smith was coming out of high school, no hyperbole. Maybe they put him at WR and maybe he does well, he is a damn good football player, but he's not going to get smaller with a college S&C program and diet.

He has NFL potential as a spread killing OLB.

needs to get his body right, no doubt, but the dude is fun. would be shocked if he's not bit leaner by end of august. i'm guessing lots of slot and lots of rb.

He never got over the fact that Texas told him he's a DT 3 technique and not a WDE.  I have a buddy who is tied in at OU and he said that there was an ”altercation” with Tunmise and one of the OU coaches who told him the same thing.  No wonder his final 3 were Alabama, Florida and A&M.  My question is why would you do a Horns down at the end of your ”video” if you don't play Texas and they weren't in your final 3?  Talk about free rent 24/7/365.  I am willing to bet that if he plays, it won't be at DE.

i heard he sucks so bad we called him to reject his commitment then lit his loi on fire.

You know I'm not big on Fatheree but rolling the dice on him is fine because I think Wykoff and Zuhn are the two best OTs you guys have taken under Jimbo. Deuce Harmon is the best CB you've taken under Fisher. So to that end, I think there's more than a few reasons to be amped about this class.

Stowers is just the next in the confusing line of mobile QBs that Jimbo has taken going back to FSU. He doesn't want them to run on designed runs often and he hates improvisation/off-book plays. I can't figure out why he doesn't just take pro guys but it's beyond me to know for sure. It makes the Klubnik recruitment all the stranger. He's really fucking good (and I am by nature meh on Westlake/Lake Travis kids) he could run Jimbo's offense to perfection, and he's a multi-aggy legacy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think if you turn ej manuel and christian ponder into first round picks, followed by the national championship with jameis, you convince yourself you can make anything work. he's fallen in love with these guys with physical tools that don't appear to be very natural throwers of the ball, and all i can guess is that he's overthinking it.

here's to haynes king breaking his current streak.

I agree that Vaka seems like a good kid but I think even with his excitement a guy that would start buried on the depth chart (because he ate his way down it) is going to be hard to keep in the program with the portal, etc.

I wonder about the WR room as well, but I don't know who you guys are truly targeting there. I assume that both Brown and Daniels could see some time at WR a la Smith to go along with Banks. There are 53 offers out from the Ags but I don't know how serious any of them are.

@bizzle are you thinking someone like JJ Henry or KJ Liggins?

Any flip candidates, like Hal Presley (no offer), Sturdivant, or Ketron Jackson?

Roll the dice in the Quay Davis recruitment?

this year from hell has kept me away from paying attention to this like i usually do, but the guys above probably have it right. i think we're gunning for:

    - dl: 2 from tunmise, shemar turner, jeudy, and some dude i haven't heard of from florida / jersey / etc. that we're paying enough money to stay in on

    - db: still going after mj daniels, yet another safety that elko thinks can play corner

    - ol: 1 of bryce foster (yes please) or remington strickland (no please)

    - rb/wr: still looking at lj, trying to keep up in the brian thomas sweepstakes, no idea about all the slot guys

    - bonus: some other high rated guy that we'll sneak in on because jimbo likes to do that

i actually like this class a lot, i think the questions are does this get us any closer to beating bama (probably not), and was eli stowers the right take (debatable).

  12. digging that avalanches / leon bridges combo.

i'm pretty drunk at 4:30 on a friday, but i am enjoying beabadoobee much more than i should be this past week, and playing her way too loud in my car. 90s revival punk, moldy peaches / veruca salt-ish. pretty awesome.

When will king get into a game and how great will he look?

i actually think he'll be first off the bench when we get up or down big. his arm isn't as big as advertised, but he's a great athlete, needs some time. heard he's wearing a weird helmet.

he'll also need to be The Future or we're fucked entirely, so no pressure.

  14. i'm a little late on my season preview, but after talking to some guys pretty dialed into the program, i think we'll see the offense really struggle as the wide receivers are young, kellen has regressed, the offensive line is horribly average, and i'd be surprised to even see demas see the field early.

on defense, it's a pretty talented front 6/7, but the secondary is still too slow and going to struggle. I see a 5-6 type win team. let me know if any specific questions, i feel pretty dialed in here.
