Reminds me of an Onion article years ago that has always stuck with me.

Man Brings Lunch From Home To Cut Down On Small Joys

Speaking with reporters while opening Ziploc baggies of pretzel twists and baby carrots, local man Stan Keppler said Monday that he has started bringing in lunch from home to cut down on his small joys. “Making your own lunch each day is a great way to reduce simple pleasures throughout the week—it’s already made a huge difference for me,” the 38-year-old insurance underwriter said as he unwrapped a plain turkey sandwich that he had woken up 15 minutes early this morning to prepare. “I used to go out for lunch with coworkers and actually enjoy myself every day, but now I just sit at my desk and eat something I packed from home. It’s quick, easy, and has cut my weekly sense of gratification by at least half.”

Didn't have time this Fall to get around to Veilguard, but it is already going for fire sale pricing. Gamestop just dropped the price to $25, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and grab it for next time I need a game to sink some time.

Glad I got distracted and held off. Veilguard is free on PS Plus starting tomorrow.

$3.50-$6.95 thru Mar’26. The $8.63 ceiling never really seemed doable. If we are trading at $8 or $9 in Jan/Feb, I’ll be ecstatic. I don’t think that’ll happen so quickly but I also never saw August ‘22 coming.

I'm not a finance guy by any means so I'd appreciate a brief tutorial if you've got a second. The $3.50-$6.95 range you're quoting is a collar, correct? Basically you're protected from nat gas price dropping below $3.50, but lose out on any upside if the price breaches $6.95? Would appreciate an example in that scenario of what exactly happens to you if the price hits $2.50 vs. if price hits $8.50.

Got semi big boy lineup today

Watched the first inning on lunch break at work. Paredes had a long AB ending in a full count BB in his first Astros appearance. Guy's got great plate discipline.

Walker also took a 6 or 7 pitch AB that finished with a stand-up 2B off dead CF wall.

Convince my parents to starts plowing every available cent into $3 shares of an upstart e-commerce website called called amazon.com

For shits and giggles, start telling everyone I know about "my" theory that the present day is actually sometime around the year 2200, and "reality" is merely a complex computer program created to placate the minds inside the bodies being cultivated as battery power for intelligent machines. Watch heads explode when friends head to the theaters in late March.

It's been a few years since I had a back injury from weight training, but it put me out of commission for at least a week.  Those muscles are so connected to most everything we do in the gym, so it's not like tweaking a leg and still being able to do a lot of upper body exercises.

Do a lot of stretching the next few days and avoid the weights.  Don't rush back, tough guy.

OH I know. This is something that happens once or twice a year typically. Just a slight twinge in my lower back that gets progressively stiffer over the course of the day and persists for the next 10 days or so. Only really bothers me when standing up from a seated position after a while or if I try to bend over and pick up something heavy.

Epsom salt bath tonight.  Gym tomorrow morning will just be a brisk walk on the treadmill for a half hour to loosen up and then do stretches. Taking the rest of the weekend off from doing much of anything physical.

One thing I've been really pleased with over the past 7 weeks or so is that I've finally begun to break through the plateau where I felt I stalled out for the final 3-4 months of 2024. More reps at heavier weights than just about ever before in my life, and I'm a few weeks shy of hitting 41.

Cursed myself with this hubristic post. Tweaked my back doing kettlebell high pull this morning. Several days of stiffness and discomfort ahead.  I'll still be able to hit the gym next week, but will not be able to go 100% until week after next at best. Gonna stall me out for a bit.

  8. Bummed.

Was planning to take a group of hometown buddies out to my lease Saturday morning. Been talking about it since November and finally found a weekend where all of us were free, which is very hard to do. Weather forecast this weekend sucks ass. Not gonna make it out of the low 40's and looks like guaranteed rain starting late afternoon and then hard rain Sunday for the drive home. Pretty much defeats the whole purpose of going out (ride around in the UTV's, drink beer out by the fire), so we decided to postpone. Hoping to try again sometime mid-March but who knows?

Another one. Took me a second. First minute and a half is a kind of gimmicky rockabilly number that just ain't my thing. 2nd half is epic. I really enjoy this band. Looking forward to the new album. March 21.

My read is that this isn't an industry-driven thing as much as it is a corporate-specific ting. IMO this has been a long time coming. There was a re-org last year that predated this and this was a corporate move to catch up to the other big integrated's on stock price, e/ps, valuations, margins, etc.

I agree. Plus, Chevron has officially moved its HQ from San Ramon to Houston. I imagine the 2000+ California-based employees will largely get wiped out.

They're stretching this out through the end of 2026 and will start offering buyout packages this Spring, so it's not a panic move b/c they're in big trouble or something, IMO.

  12. One of my least favorite annual traditions, I'm sitting in my office hungover, just staring at the clock until I go drive my truck downtown to pick up our shit from the NAPE booth and lug it back to our building. 363 days until next time.

Oh well, it beats actually having to go work a shift at GRB.

Some of the markets down on the coast are already selling live crawfish. Boyd's in Texas City is currently at $4.88/lb. At this rate I'm thinking an early March crawfish boil might be in the cards.

Saw $2.88/lb Tuesday and Wednesday this week. They charge much higher prices on the weekends, but prices are already dropping fast.
